I think we look best with our natural hair color. My hair color is DARK BLACK and it really compliments my skin tone (medium brown).

Well, some black women just really love making a statement, they're loud and proud and so is their hair and nails. lol.

I for one think the main reason many people believe black women have no hair is b/ca a lot of black women are unrealistic about their choice of hair styles. Sometimes when I want to give my hair a break, I get my natural hair tree braided with extensions that look like MY hair. No one ever notices the difference. White women and Asian women wear weaves and wigs but nobody, (unless you're an experienced veteran ;D) can really tell the difference. They hit their mark but many fine black woman are missing theirs.

The older Indian women I work with all have a few strands of Dark Red hair mixed in with their jet black natural color. The red is not natural and it is only isolated single strands. What does this mean? I don't feel comfortable asking them.
The women do not have the dot on their forehead, so perhaps the few random strands is a substitute for it.

The red hair strands may be a symbol of sacred purity and power. Historically, more of the central part of the hair would be dyed, but maybe it has been reduced to a set of strands for more subtlety or assimilation reasons.

Researching our genalogy is about looking at the records our ancestors generated during their lifetime, so names, dates, places we do not know what colour hair they had unless on the occassional record such as a military record it tells us, so genealogy is nothing to do with genes, that would be biology/science so you are best to ask in the biology category.............

Look for coffee browns, moss and olive greens, rust oranges, dark tomato reds, golds and camels. Grays, navy's, taupes, purples and pinks could make you look lifeless though.

Choose ivory, apricot, tans, beige, medium browns, violet blues and golden yellows if you have strawberry blonde or light auburn hair, golden brown eyes, and peach or golden undertones to your skin. Marine blue and warm grays will work well for you, but not black or wine which could look sallow.

I wouldn't recommend dying neon colors into your hair because they wash out after a week. I had turquoise highlights and they turned green within 3 washes. Just use extensions!

My hair is dyed black and it REALLY comes out black when i use this brand. Its from the brand Natural Instincts and its just the one that is regular black hair dye. It is a permanent hair dye and it really works. I put mine in about 3 or 4 months ago and it never faded at all and still looks really black. I think the price is about 8- 10 bucks or something like that.

Lipstick: if you have red hair and Lighter skin, go with a pale pink lipstick. You don't want your lips to be too red when you have that kind of completion. For red hair and tanner skin, dusty rose shades will look nice, and give a nice glow, but won't look too muddy.

Eyeshadow: for red hair and light skin tones, use rich copper eyeshadows. As for tanner skin and red hair, use more of an apricot one with a warm tint.

I'm getting tired of the upkeep with henna since I have naturally golden/ash blonde hair on the verge of light brown and my roots show through pretty quickly. I love how it has made my hair feel but I think it's time to grow it out. Since I don't have the option of removing the red- what's the best shade of brown to use to help cover the red and make my roots less noticeable while I grow my hair out? I made sure to get a high quality henna so I'm not worried about dying over it. So I have an ombré hair with ash brown as my roots & blonde for the ends, my natural hair color is black, & I wanted to dye my hair red but since red fades fast & I will be using the ones you buy at a drug store so it won't be anything perfesional & I don't want the red hair for long just as long as it'll last, well the blonde I have now change color after the red washes off & I will have to redu the blonde or will it be fine and won't change after the red is colored over it?? This is after the red hair washes off over 6 weeks or so what color will my blonde hair be??

If you're talking about the semi-permanent hair dyes, when they say it only lasts for 6 weeks that means it only stays its strong red colour for that long, and after that it will fade. But it quite probably won't completely disappear: I used to dye my medium brown hair with semi-permanent dye, it's been a year and a half since I last dyed it red but you can still see a slightly red sheen at its ends! It never completely fades.

And if you're bleaching your hair (which I suppose you must be if your natural colour is black) it will be extra absorbent so will hold more colour for longer.

So, yeah, I imagine that you will have to redo the blonde. Although you might quite like the faded red look? I actually rather like the red shine to my hair (although I'll probably lose the last of it when I next have my hair cut...)

YES!!! be careful, and wait a few weeks before swimming. I had blonde highlights and they turned green'ish. It was awful and I had to go and dye my hair darker. Luckily I have pretty strong hair, so by dying it darker it added colour to it (vs highlighting it takes away and damages more). Good luck, but my opnion is to definitly wait!

Well, long story short, I had to end a friendship with a girl that I've known for about 10 years. We were best friends, but when we started college, she changed.

She got mad at me for everything, calling me selfish for winning scholarships, and ignoring me when I mentioned new friends, my life in college, or my boyfriend. She started talking bad about me behind my back as well, especially at our common workplace. I couldn't take the negativity anymore so I ended the friendship when I stopped texting and talking to her.

Now though, the bad mouthing has gotten worse. I hear her whisper about me and while it hurts me, I try to ignore it. I also noticed that she copies the things that I do. I started working out with a friend; she started doing the same thing and would post statuses on Facebook about how she was getting fit (she was never fond of working out before). I have natural red hair; I heard her mention that she wants to dye her hair red. She'll talk about her college program at work to our boss; my boss will ask about mine and she promptly leaves the room. Heck, I had to get a new car because mine died, and she got a new car about a week later.

I'm trying to ignore her the best I can, but its hard and it makes me sad that a former best friend has become so mean and toxic. I can't transfer to another department and I can't quit because I need the money. So what do I do with this friend? Should I say something or try to continue ignoring her? Thank you!

For small, obscure scholarships, the chances are pretty good. If you apply for 100 of them, I'd say chances are good that you'll win at least one.

The ones with the best chances are ones that fit all of the following:
1) Not worth much money ($500 or so)
2) Aren't open to everyone
3) Require a significant amount of work to apply for (an essay rather than just a form)

For more common ones worth a lot of money (>$1000), your chances are probably better if you just buy a lottery ticket.

Your best chance at a scholarship is just getting one from the university you go to. Most private organizations that give scholarships can only afford to give one or two per year. Universities have multi-million (sometimes multi-billion) dollar endowments and can afford to give tons of scholarship money (especially since they're getting most of the money back).

In high school, I probably applied to about a dozen scholarships and got nothing. The private university I went to gave me almost $30,000 per year, I got $5,000 split over 2 years from the alumni association, and got about $5,000 per year for 3 years from a special endowed fund for people in my major.

You can go to the salon and get it striped of all the colors you have dyed it and get it back to your natural color or you can dye it back to your natural color it's not good to dye your hair tho when it's already damaged you should get a leave in conditioner or cream for dry frizzy hair or split ends. After that I want to use L'Oreal Superior Preference Dream Blonde Hair Color, 9A Light Ash Blonde to get my hair to the color I want. But I'm going to buy Ardell Red Gold Corrector Plus to make sure their aren't any gold or orange brassy tones before applying the hair color. Next I want to use the Revlon Frost & Glow Highlighting Kit to throw some dimension to my hair color with highlights. I just need to know if I am going about this the correct way. Any help is welcome!

Go to a professional salon is the best advice I can give you. I know it's not what you want to hear, but this is a really tricky process and it can definitely go wrong very easily. Trust me, I've tried this multiple times and so have friends of mine, and the results have often been a little scary. I would definitely say going to a salon is pertinent, unless you have a friend who is a hair dresser who can monitor you.

Is it possible to lighten a dyed hair color?

I had my hair dyed dark brown three months ago (SEMI Permanent), to cover red hair color that was done a month or so before that. It's probably a medium to dark brown on the ends, with the old red hair color coming through. I went to a salon and asked for her to lighten my hair color to a light brown. Well, she decided to only put lightener on my roots (which are now a medium blonde), and waited until after to tell me that you can't lift color with color. I'm going back tomorrow to see what I can do to fix the botched color job. How can I lighten my hair (without using highlights), without causing too much damage?

How do I get the green out of my hair from using a "ash"color hair rinse.?

I have ebony relaxed hair. I use bold beautiful hair color (rinse) light ash brown to cover my gray hair. I accidentally used dark ash brown which left my hair color too dark. I then used the light ash brown which turn my hair green. Can anyone tell me how to get the geen out without damaging my hair any further.

Toner alone (without developer) won't damage it any further. It will layer more color on, and you need to be under a dryer for 10 minutes for it to saturate the hair shaft. To get the green neutralized, you may have to use a red/golden base toner.

You may need to see a professional.

How do I make my red hair colour warmer without dyeing it again?

I dyed my hair a warm copper red, but it turned out as a cherry, violet, cool shade of red instead. How can I add a bit of warmth to my hair colour without buying yet another box of hair dye. Are there copper rinses or anything like that?

I don't believe so. You can try highlighting, or maybe using henna, but I suppose that still counts as dyeing. If I were you, I would wait another week (at least. Dyeing hair so closely together is never a good idea.), then use a red dye that specifically says 'warm'. L'Oreal sells these. Their "Feria" haircolor line has different shades that are categorized as "warm", "cool", or "neutral." They have very pretty, prismatic dyes that almost seem highlighted, due to the tones the dyes offer.

What color clothing will look good with my unnaturally red hair?

Okay so in my last question some one gave me advice as to what colors would look good with my red hair. The color that i have literally looks like a red crayola crayon. The girl had said that black, white, navy and dark green would look good with my hair. what other colors do you think would look nice? I have tan skin too. (if that helps out some how)

You sound really pretty. Hahahaa.(: I wouldn't wear black close to your face: choose tops and accessories in natural, earth tones such as dark and olive greens, beiges, browns, golds, camel and even orange reds. Black is OK to wear on skirts and trousers. If you have a black jacket that you like, don't worry: you can always brighten it up with a shawl in the colors mentioned above. Purple, bright red, navy and pink are also on the no-no list and should probably be avoided. There is in fact a whole debate going on between stylists as to whether the clash between red hair and colors such as pink or purple is fashionable or tacky. Pale pink, for example, may suit dark redheads but looks edgy and "loud" on women with a more copper-colored 'do.

In the end, it's a matter of each and every woman's taste - but as an overall piece of advice, avoid such colors unless you're looking to make sure every eye is on you at a party or on an evening out with your friends. If you do want to wear pink, for example, make sure you go for a more intense or darker shade of pink for the bottom half and a lighter shade for your top. Pink accessories are not a good idea. I think we look best with our natural hair color. My hair color is DARK BLACK and it really compliments my skin tone (medium brown).

Red works for some of us but its usually a loud red color they use.

Well, some black women just really love making a statement, they're loud and proud and so is their hair and nails. lol.

I for one think the main reason many people believe black women have no hair is b/ca a lot of black women are unrealistic about their choice of hair styles. Sometimes when I want to give my hair a break, I get my natural hair tree braided with extensions that look like MY hair. No one ever notices the difference. White women and Asian women wear weaves and wigs but nobody, (unless you're an experienced veteran ;D) can really tell the difference. They hit their mark but many fine black woman are missing theirs.
