best hair color for asians?

sexiii_kk

i would like to dye my hair or get highlights. i am cambodian, and i have always had black hair and im sick of it. my skin tone is a brownish-tan. should i just add highlights to my black hair if so what color?

i was also thinking of dying my whole hair a rich dark chocolate brown and adding highlights to that but i dont know what color highlights.

which should i do, and what colors should i get?
or are there any other ideas? (plz noo like blonde color or a really light color highlight im not sure if it would look good on me (i might accept copper but im not sure) thanx
+++ how much would you think doing my hair would cost?

Answer
Black hair with red highlights would look good on an Asian, also a dark chocolate or chestnut color would look nice with some dark honey colored highlights. I always envied Asians for having beautiful straight black hair that always looks flawless! Try not to criticize yourself so much, I'm sure it looks great how it is (but I understand the need for change).

Best color hair feathers for Asian hair?

Myungsunki

I'm Korean and have medium-long length (couple inches past shoulder) dark brown/black hair. I am getting some hair feathers put in and was wondering what colors would look best? I was thinking the black/white striped feathers? Any other suggestions? Could they be put with the black/white or no?

Also, what is the best placement for the feathers? How many strands do people usually get put in? I want it to look cool/semi-natural and not too crazy!

Answers with pictures or helpful links gets best answer and points!!! :)

Thanks!! ^_^

Answer
Red, Blue, Purple & White will contrast in your hair really well since you have black/brown hair your can pretty much have any colour in your hair & make it look good

Here is a pretty purple/black/white that i think will go best with your tone

i have black with some brown hair, its natural. should i leave it as it is? or should i change it?

maybe an auburn color? i think something with a tint of red would look pretty awesome! opinions please, and put pics in to show exactly how it looks like, thank you ^^

Answer
I really think a dark auburn would be beautiful.

Here: what do you think: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3251/2296289900_2728e8cccf_m.jpg

There are lots of variations you could do. And just because you're Asian and have a certain skin tone doesn't mean you can't have fun with it! You can have whatever hair color you want. It's all about how you carry yourself! Have fun with it.

To get dark red natural looking hair color, will box dye be okay?

Mary

I'm Asian and currently have dark brown hair though it's more on the darker side. I colored it 2 months ago with a "cool mahogany brown" by garnier and well it didn't really lighten my hair and i think it shaded quite quickly.

Just wondering if red hair dye will be enough to lighten it, or will it be too dark and it only shows in the sun?

I really want to avoid bleach...

Any ideas on what box color?

Answer
No, box red won't show up on black hair. Box dyes are only good for going two or three shades lighter or darker than your natural hair color. Anything more than that and you will need to lighten the hair before dyeing. You will need to remove the black color from your hair with a pre-lightener and THEN use a red dye. Hair salons can give you vibrant reds that last longer plus the methods they use to remove color is far gentler on the hair than drug store home bleach kits.

thanks!

Answer
Go for it girl!
I think it would look great on you!
I'm actually halfway through dying my hair black and red at the moment. I generally have black hair, with a lot of crazy, bright colours these days, and everyone seems to like it. I love it personally. It's creative and original. I'm going for only two at the moment, because I want it to be red and black over Halloween. Before I put the black dye in tonight it was black, bright pale purple, brown, bright pink, bright orange-pink, bright fluoro green, bright pale blue and purple. I've done red and black before, but it'll be all over the place this time =)
You should go for it. do all your tips... if you're game, put some in your fringe. You're beautiful, it'll look great.

Oh, but one thing to keep in mind: your hair is part of your outfit, so when going for colourful hair, it's important to remember that if you care about colour-coding, that when you have obvious red in your hair, you can't wear anything with pink anymore, and if you have pink, you can't wear red.
With my last hair, a whole huge section of my wardrobe that was black and red went into storage, because I refuse to mix pink and black. It get's to come back now...but no more pink tartan miniskirt! Your choice though =).

Asian attitudes towards red hair?

KB

I am going to have the opportunity soon to travel across Asia but there's something that has been puzzling me.

I'm of Irish stock and possessed of long red hair that I generally keep tied back in a ponytail. I've been told in China, I can expect a fairly negative reaction, that red hair is seen as ugly. I've also been told the opposite, that it's seen as new and exciting. I've been told that in Japan, nobody will really care, Thailand I'll probably draw sideways glances but nothing major. The one common theme though seems to be that, whatever reaction I get, it will be extreme because of my hair color.

The trip is going to go through Japan, China, Thailand, Vietnam, and South Korea. I will be going through the cities as well as urban areas.

So, basically, what can an outsider (American) with long red hair expect when traveling through these countries?

Answer
well, people will be curious about it but aside from that they don't care. asian people don't really care much about how others look or about other people's business, they just keep their opinions to themselves and mind their own business. you might get some fanfare from Thai or Viet girls because of your different and radiant hair colour. no red hair's not ugly
