Color Fiend Fuchsia Flash Hair Color reviews?

Ella Emica

i want to put red in my hair but i want to know what it's like before i put it in and i don't want it to be permanent.

Answer
I found this review of that product. Hope this helps!!

I used Color Fiend yesterday (without bleaching) - it is a semi-permanent die and does not use a peroxide or bleach - this also means it will wash out after 3 to 6 weeks - (which is good if you hate it) - but it wont harm your hair. Also - as a side note - you can use Prell Hair Shampoo or Head & Shoulders and they will STRIP color out of your hair in about two days (even permanent hair color) - if you ever goof up - thats always a back up eraser.

About the color fiend - it was very thick - so if you cut the tip down lower its easier to get out - like half way down the tip. I used gloves to really squish it through - its like a paste. I LOVE it - very good color - true to bottle My naturally highlighted areas are the color of the bottle and the rest has that "sheen" from the color - like its tinted - but not as bright...(and I was covering hair that had been dyed natural black and red) - I used Red Rum which is a great color - but a red - and it turned out fantastic - I was really happy with it. The only thing - they told me to rinse until the water was clear and not wash it with shampoo for two days - it took FOREVER to rinse - because it is a thick hair color...I went back and bought every bottle they had in stock of this color - I really liked it. Feel free to email or IM me if you have any questions

Hair color help!!!!!!!!?

Brittany

I tried dying my hair bright red using hicolor Hilights in magenta and 30 developer. I have naturally dark brown hair and I've heard so many good reviews on this stuff but mine came out SO uneven. Since it's still a dull red could I just put my normal black brown with red undertone hair color on top to fix it? Or would it still be uneven. (It's a darker color than the red.

Answer
From Ya member who was so depressed: "sallies beauty salon isnt really a salon is more of a hair suppply store and the beautitionist who looked and tested my hair said it would work just fine and now im left with bald spots and im only 15 will a little less than half my hair missing and white roots and bright orange red and spotted black hair that is melted up to around 2 inches from my scalp idk what to do" Another example: "Ok i know i shouldnt have but i bleached my hair last week and it came out ok it was just different shades of blonde and i wanted it o e color so i went to my beauty store and bought dye well i had a reaction to it my hair is fried and falling out help me please.... can i cut it and it will stop falling out or what do i need to do besides not EVER dye my hair again"

London, Feb 20, 2013 I've been saying that since 2009.
Hair dyes, which include home hair colouring kits and those used at pricey salons, are linked to deadly cancer-causing chemicals, warn scientists. In 2009 the Mail revealed that women who used hair dyes more than nine times a year had a 60% greater risk of contracting blood cancer.
A year later the European Commission banned 36 hair dyes which put long-term users at risk of bladder cancer. < < < <â¨

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. Itâs made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. Itâs well-known to be a cause of serious allergic reactions -- including something called contact dermatitis which can lead to rashes, blisters, and open sores.
PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. One bad reaction can lead to sensitivities to other products such as hair dye, sunblock and some types of clothing dyes. Oftentimes, it's using the product a second or third time. Skin specialist Najjia Ashraf reveals that there are barely any dyes that donât contain this toxin; even the ones who claim they donât, are not being honest. âBig brands often escape the blame by suggesting they are ammonia-free. However, ammonia and PPD are two very different things and PPD is present in nearly every dye because it is what gives off the colour,â she explains.

What color will my hair turn if I use red dye on black hair?

Q. my hair has previously been dyed red, and it shows up with a reddish tint, but do you think dying it the same color would gradually make the color appear noticably?

Answer
If you have black hair, your hair will look black, and have a gorgeous red gleam in sunlight. You could bleach out some highlights and dye them red to really make it all pop.

how many washes for red hair colour to wash out on natural black hair?

.

i don't know if its permanent, semi or demi or whatever. s: i just got it done today. so i got my tips coloured red on my natural black hair. no bleach or toner. but something with a up lift colour, or something along that. i have two weeks of my school holidays left and i was just wondering how many washes it takes for it to wash out. it doesn't have to be completely gone, it's just i go to a private school and yoou know. ><
thanks in advance. (:

Answer
it won't wash out completely but it'll just fade. Maybe you should try putting a dark warm brown rinse (semi-permanent color) to cover it. you'll still have an ombre color affect on your hair but the red will be toned down.

Will my daughter have red hair? What color eyes?

Laniah

My husband had red/orange hair and eyes that change from green/hazel/blue, I have light brown/blonde and light blue eyes. But all of my fully biological sisters have some kind of red hair (red red, orange, strawberry). I want to know how likely it is that my daughter has red hair and what is the plausable eye color?

Answer
You carry the recessive gene for red hair, and a dominant blonde. Your husband carries two recessive for red hair, so there is a 50/50 chance of her having red hair. As for eyes, his are likely hazel with a different varient, you have double recessive light blue, so there is a very low chance of blue eyes, more likely to be Hazel.

Help with my hair question?

KylieShey

Okay, long story hah.
So my natural hair color is like dirty blonde-ish and i wanted to be adventurous and dye it like auburn..then i dyed it dark brown and then not long ago right before prom i wanted to back to the dirty blonde thing, so me and my mom tried to do it at home..(bad idea) it came out really bad and only died my roots and yeah okay, so we went to a salon and spent 100 dollars for them to say that it wont be dirty blonde because i died it red that one time? So now my hair is like reddish brownish with the "blonde" part mainly at the top and im not satisfied.. i'm getting a job soon and plan on spending over a $100 to get it fixed at a salon, but could someone just tell me if it can be fixed and if so, how??
Thank you(:

Answer
50/50 chance, but there is NEVER A GUARANTEE since they will strip it, making the hair more weaker and how many layers of chemicals was that in less than a year?

Right now your hair is weak, and having the salon FIX IT, that's 75% more risks, and the chemicals used @ the salon are more stronger than home kits.

Style meets chemistry meets biology: We're talking hair coloring.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.
Example: "My hair is right about armpit length as it is, but I've severely damaged it by bleaching it all at once. As a student of cosmetology myself, I would have to say that it was probably one of the worst mistakes I could have ever made."
Another example: ok i did my hair yesterday i DIDN'T bleach it ,but im not sure what its called but she took the color out of my hair and then dies it a blond color and my head was on fire it killed me so after that i hated my hair color so i colored it my self a darker color, it looked so ugly and it burned me again it rully hrt so after i washed it my mom checked it for me and found small spots of blood all over my top scalp like over 20 of em now im scared and don't know why its there is it from the color am i sick and something is wrong ??

Hypothetical question about evolution: is it possible the color red has been integrated into our DNA/genes?

Q. By that I mean as something we recognize as a color of power or status or danger?
This is strictly scientifically hypothetical and not meant for people to just say "God did it".
The color red has had powerful meanings for quite some time now through out history.
For example: going back to Ancient Egypt, the poorer class of people would paint their hair black, the middle class would bleach it blonde while the wealthy, priestesses and aristocrats would bleach it and then dye it red as a sign of their status. And many Greek and Egyptian Goddesses were often depicted as red heads or with red as a symbolic color.
If you study art you would know that you can tell the wealth of the artists before the 1800's simply by how much red they used in their paintings as red was the most expensive color to use/paint with. Many artists simply used a lot of red in their paintings for this reason.
Even looking at Da Vinci's religious paintings, whenever he painted women of seduction he always depicted them as red heads. Eve was a red head to symbolize her seduction of Adam into eating the apple and in the "Last Supper" Mary Magdalene was depicted as a red head (Or whoever that was for those of you who think that's just a stupid conspiracy theory)

What do you think? Is it possible red is apart of our DNA by now? Is it possible humans can evolve to color?
Seriously I'm asking, I'm not a sociology expert yet cause my college is losing funding in that class.
Actually no, I only like black on my avatar.

My gf is a red head, as well as my mom and grandma. I guess that explains my obsession with red, but I'm wondering about others.

Answer
Only so far as there is a photopigment tuned towards the red range and its absence results in color blindness to red. Blood is red. Wood fire is red. There is as much to believe it is an association that crosses cultural boundaries.

As for dye choices, most dyes and pigments were expensive until synthetic indigo created a revolution in chemistry. The British Army's red coats date to the English Civil War. Since it was countryman vs. countryman, one color of dress was used to identify friend from foe. Red was selected because it was cheapest.

Fellow Atheists, a question about evolution?

Celes

I don't even know if this has anything to do with evolution since I'm not too savvy on the subject and things related to it. But yesterday I was thinking a lot about humans and hair color. So here comes my stupid question: Do we have the assortment of hair colors that we have today (blonde, red, brunette,) because of evolution? And if so, is it possible that we could've naturally have had blue or green or purple hair if some changes happened through out our evolution process?

IDK, I just thought it'd be interesting and would make our species more...colorful and vibrant if we many different kinds of hair colors and not just the ones we have today. PLEASE don't throw rotten tomatoes at me if I'm not making very much sense (since I'm almost positive that I'm not...)

Answer
The question makes sense and is legit, even if slightly "off the wall." But heck, it's a fun idea so I'll take some time on it.

We have the hair colors brunette, blonde, or red because of adaptation, which is one element of the overarching topic of evolution. Originally, adaptation was the process whereby our hominid ancestors developed different hair colors (all over the body) as camouflage. Various shades of blonde-brown were effective in hiding those ancestors in tall wild grass stalks. I've seen pictures of female African lions in tall grass where all you can see are the eyes and teeth. Everything else blends in perfectly. That color is a sort of blond with very light touch of brunette thrown in.

As hominids, we grazed a lot, so had hair that would adapt to our grazing areas. Once we evolved into Homo sapiens, our hair color was less important because we lost most of our body hair. What is left is so small as to be nearly invisible. But our cranial hair became a feature for a different type of adaptation - mating displays. Just as the peacock developed that glorious tail, beautiful to see but useless for flight, we developed hair color variations as attractants. (OK, I'll admit it - I have a weakness for true redheads...)

As to the possibility of blue, green, or purple, I don't think that is a possible hair color because our hair is really just a modified type of skin cell. Our skin tones cannot be blue, green, or purple because melanin, the chemical that colors our skin, cannot show any of those colors.

Hope that answers your question adequately.

Red color Japanese hair dye brand?

At the moment my hair is blondish brown with black regrowth. I would like to dye it red but keep the balance in my hair (red isn't stronger or weaker at sections with regrowth). As for the red, I don't want it too strong, but still obvious. Something like this:

Best Light ASH Brown Hair Color to get rid of red tones?

What is the best Light ASH Brown hair color? Looking for a very STRONG ash color to counteract the annoying and impossible to get out copper/red tones in my light brown hair color.

No answers like go to a salon/professional because they suck just as bad if not worse.

Answer
It's NOT the hair dye that can cause hair to turn green.
Sun can fade color-treated hair (invest on a good wide brim hat), chlorine (is blue, blonde is yellow, chlorine coats the hair, leaving it green, wear a bathing cap and rinsing your hair right after swimming. Hair products are killers on colored hair deep conditioning the hair once a week to retain moisture. But avoid products with keratin because that can actually harm the hair color. Volumizing products and clarifying shampoos can be too cleansing and can strip the hair of color. Brazilian and Japanese relaxers also limit what you can do with color because they really change the condition of your hair. Don't use Head and Shoulders, Pantene or Suave because of the build-up they can leave and the color-stripping they can do. - InStyle

Adding another layer of hair dye on top of another will not turn out the exact color you want. That's like adding another Crayola color on top of another. It doesn't work that way! Style meets chemistry meets biology: We're talking hair coloring.

anime character with long red hair?

KagomeLuvL

ok, so I have this wig. It's red, doesn't have bangs, and goes about to my belly buttton.
so basically, I need to find an anime with a well-known character that has red hair, no bangs, and her hair can reach anywhere from her chest to...her waist. actually, even past her waist, because it's ok to do that most times! =3
and I'd like it to be a sort of popular character? although, if I haven't seen her yet, then I'm not sure she exists.
I wanted to be Shana from Shakugan no Shana, but she has bangs. and I'm not "big" enough to go as Rangiku Matsumoto. (plus her hair is too orange :/)
got it? thanks in advance! =3 =3

are redheads weird looking?

missy400

some people say yes, some say the exact opposite. i am a redhead, a real one with very red hair, and i was just wondering what other peoples opinions are?

Answer
Red hair is caused by a mutation of the Melanocortin 1 receptor (MC1R) gene, which is influential in determining skin and hair colour. Across the world population, between 1% to 2% of people have red hair - in some shade from reddish-tinged dark brown to strawberry blond. The incidence is somewhat higher in people with ethnic backgrounds from western Europe - between 2 to 6%. The very highest frequency of red hair is found in Scotland (where all the best things come from :-)

So I wouldn't say that red-heads are "weird-looking". However their hair colour is generally less common.

It was noted that some Neanderthals may have had red hair. However the mutation responsible for red hair in Neanderthals is not the same as in modern humans; so don't believe anyone who says it's a cave-man relic.

Like Richard B, I think red-heads are hot! Must be my Celtic background ...

Hope it helps.

Why do people with red hair often have freckles?

Q.

Answer
"Freckles can be found on anyone no matter their genetic background; however, having freckles is genetic and is related to the presence of the dominant melanocortin-1 receptor MC1R gene variant. The formation of freckles is triggered by exposure to sunlight. The exposure to UV-B radiation activates melanocytes to increase melanin production, which can cause freckles to become darker."

Hair color?

I was thinking about dying my hair a deep burgundy purple-ish color. I've always thought it was really pretty but I'm not sure if it would look good on me or not. So I'm asking all of you! I have fairly light skin, dark brown eyes, and my hair is currently dark brown. Also, what brands of hair dye would you all recommend?

Answer
I also have fair skin and brown hair and I have done the red purplish type of color and you would look awsome.Revlon colorsilk is really good but just be warned that reds and burgandys or anything that has red in it except for brown WILL fade very fast

What is the best brand of hair colour Revlon,L'Oreal,Garnier,Clairol,Henna?

Q. I want to dye my hair dark brown or reddish auburn, but I don't know the best brand. I want a brand that won't dry out my hair, won't damage my hair, and the colour should not fade as fast.(like in 2 weeks) All my friends say to use Henna, because it's the best brand and it does not dry or damage your hair.
Thank you!!!!!

Answer
Your friends are wrong...henna is the most riskiest and the one that you have no idea what the outcome will be.
and do NOT BUY A BOXED KIT OF HAIR COLOR. What you need to do to have the best hair color is to buy the tube of color and the developer separate.....
and let me explain...why....
they only work on 10% of the people......because ........
think about this:what if a red head
a blonde
a brunette
and a black hair
person all go into the store to buy that same box of hair color........
which one of the them is going to have the correct color when finished?
Only one of them............
why? because it matters what color the hair your start with as to how the outcome will end up
On the UNIVERSAL hair color chart that all companies go by....there are a base 12 colors of hair.....
Level 1 is Black and Level 12 is white hair
Only 1 of them will get the proper outcome with a boxed hair color..........because each Level needs a different formula to have the correct outcome...
T H E R E F O R E:
there is a 1 in 12 shot you might get the right color
that is not very good and not the numbers I would want with MY OWN hair..........

how about you?

I am a Colorist/Stylist from Malibu Calif. and would be very glad to help you get the right color and developer so that you will not have any of the problems, you want avoid.
It sounds like it will be fairly simple only I need the color your hair "is" now BEFORE anything is put on it.

You most likely have a SALLY'S Beauty Supply in the town you live in....they are in every city practically in the USA. There is a new line of professional color made by CLAIROL called PREMIUM Creme PRO LIne....
now it depends on the exact color
but for an example if you want: Reddish auburn Level 5 hair
you should buy 2 tubes of color and mix 1/2 tube of one with 1/2 tube of the other.
buy 1 tube of : 5R and one tube of :6N
mix 1/2 of 5R(RED) Plus 1/2 of 6N(light Brown) stir....
Add 2 ounces of 20 Volume Developer
apply with brush.
Leave on 40 minutes.
The exact directions are written out on the box of color. JUST as if you had bought a kit. So it tells you exactly what to do and you should follow that. I have some of the color here, so I just looked at the box to give you their directions.

That is the professional way to color.

If you want more specific help, i will be glad to give it to you. As a Colorist we used to call boxed hair color kits "job security"...because people would always trash their hair and then come to us to get it fixed after using BOXED HAIR COLOR KITS....and that is why hair stylists never say anything about them....
I'm retired from hair....and have a hair BLog now... so I write about Hair and am a chemist now
Tackling the problem of trying to get everyone to stop using the boxed kits is a mission of mine.

iT'S a fairly easy method of working around the kits and then more people will not have to go through the heart ache of trashed hair

How can I get a nice Dark Red hair color?

MARIA

I dyed my hair black back in January 2013 (this year) but I wanna dye my hair dark red now. I'd like a red like Snooki's or better yet like Cheryl Cole's. Im very light brown skinned, Im Mexican and I have brown eyes. A few years ago in 2009 i did dye my hair Auburn Brown with Revlon hair dye and it was perfect since it was the first time i had ever dyed my hair but I want it back now lol. Im thinking about dying it for summer though so I wanna dye it by May or June.
How can I get the best results? Must i have to bleach my hair? How long will it take the black to fade away? Is there a specific color you would recommend?

Any other tips or suggestions are welcome :)

Answer
My hair is very dark and when I went to the hairdressers to have red dye put into it I didn't have to bleach it, if you use a very brightish red colour it should come out like a darkish red, but if you go to the hairdressers they should be able to do it without bleaching it

What Color Should I Dye My Hair And What Brand?

Rachel

So I'm dying my hair an unnatural color for the summer and originally was planning to dye it a bright fire truck red. I'm dying it today or Tomorrow and I'm in between the colors red teal or lilac. I have dark brown hair (I am bleaching) dark brown eyes and a medium skin tone. What color do you think would look best for me and what brand do you recommend ? Thanks so much if you answered!! Have a nice summer!

Answer
Dyeing your hair in the summer is the worst thing that could happen to your hair: Chlorine, the sun, all fades the dye faster and the sun causing your hair to get sunburned more.
Red, white & blue, it will go well for the Fourth!

Overlapping dye onto previously colored hair is what creates dullness and dryness. If you color your hair @ home or salon, let your roots grow out as long as you can stand, so the line of demarcation is easier to spot. Only run color through the lengths for five minutes to refresh the ends. To extend the time between touch-ups, use a gloss and deep -conditioning treatments. They will help smooth cuticles roughed up by daily wear & tear, and the hair will look shinier. ~ Harry Josh, hairstylist of the celebrities.

Celebrity wears two-tone hair dye all the time, trying to grow out their dye. They call that the ombre style.

How to turn copper-red hair a goldish hue?

Miss.Under

I asked earlier about how to do this, and got some good answers, but just in case I need something stronger, or can't go to a stylish, can anyone suggest a hair rinse or something that will take this copper-red hue out?

I'm was trying to get a goldish-brown hue, and had to use a booster to get my hair to lighten (it doesn't take to color easily). Instead, it came out copper-red with some darker roots. So please, can someone suggest what I can do at home to bring the color down? I'm getting extensions in a week, and must do something now to get a golden-brown hue...

Thanks for any help!

Answer
at this point i would not suggest adding more color to your hair especially cause ur roots are darker....red is hard to get rid of..honestly the ony way to fix this once and for all its to go to a salon and get a soap cap done and then dye your hair at the salon of course the color that resembles copper red...a good hairdresser can mix a custom shade for you...just remember color deposits..it does not lift color nor does adding color change color

Need genetic info of humans w/ red hair, brown eyes, and somewhat freckled yet tan-able skin?

Grant

I'm a man with red hair(specifically orange-brown hair), medium brown eyes, with skin that can tan but also lightly freckles.

I have a mostly constant skin tone with about 10% freckling of different shades. Most of the freckles on my skin are evenly distributed and light to medium brown in pigment, but the smaller percentage of the freckles on my skin have a dark brown pigment, are more randomly distributed, and are somewhat bigger in width than the lighter ones making them more noticeable. When I was a kid my skin wouldn't get sun burned like other red haired people but it would have to have more frequent exposure to the sun than other white people who could tan to be as tan as them. I'm not saying I tried to be tan in comparison to other people then I was just outside and exposed to the sun for at least 3 - 4 hours, on average. I only started to think about this a couple years ago. This is just retrospective analysis. Back then, though, I wouldn't get freckles. When I transitioned into a teenager my lifestyle reduced my exposure the sun to almost probably 1 hour a day and I was paler. I'm 25, the past 10 years my skin started to produce freckles much easier. Is this because of years of reduced sunlight somehow making the dynamics of my skin change when hit with adequate amounts of sunlight? I just want data on this genetic make up if anyone can give any?

Answer
The melanocortin-1-receptor gene (MC1-r) on the surface of melanocyte cells is important in converting the red pigment phomelanin to brown pigment melanin. If you are European and have red hair you probably have an allele of MC1-R that does not convert all the phomelanin. The ratio of red to brown pigment determines hair and skin coloration.

The gene SLC24A5 expresses the protein that determines the melanin density of the skin so different alleles of this gene impact skin color. The A variant allele is found in humans with less skin melanin.

The eye color genes EYCL-1, EYCL-2 & EYCL-3 determine melanin's local distribution in the iris and its background skin so influence eye color from this pigment.

Certain alleles of MC1-r are linked to fair skin and freckles.

How can I enhance my Natural hair colour without dye?

Yippee

I have a sort of light red-ish brown hair colour (it's hard to explain) but I'd like it to be more on the red side. How can I enhance the red in my hair without using permanent dye. I've already tried the "red" shampoos and they don't have enough impact. what else can I use?

Answer
hello there,
in here you can learn more about red hair:

"The pigment pheomelanin gives red hair its distinctive color. Red hair has far more pheomelanin than other hair colors, but far less of the dark pigment eumelanin. Auburn hair has both high levels of pheomelanin and eumelanin.

The genetics of red hair, discovered in 1997, appears to be associated with the melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R), which is found on chromosome 16. Red hair is associated with fair skin color due to low concentrations of eumelanin. This lower melanin-concentration has the advantage that a sufficient concentration of important Vitamin D can be produced under low light conditions. However, when the UV-radiation is strong (like in the regions close to the equator) the lower concentration of melanin leads to several medical disadvantages - one of them is the higher rate of skin cancer.

The MC1R recessive variant gene, which gives people red hair and fair skin, is also associated with freckles, though it is not uncommon to see a redhead without freckles. Eighty percent of redheads have an MC1R gene variant,[13] and the prevalence of these alleles is highest in Scotland and Ireland. The alleles that code for red hair occur close to the alleles that impact skin color, so it seems that the phenotypic expression for lighter skin and red hair are interrelated.

Red hair can originate from several different changes on the MC1R-gene. If one of these changes is present on both chromosomes then the respective individual is likely to have red hair. This type of inheritance is described as an autosomal recessive mode of inheritance. Even if both parents may not have red hair themselves they both can be carriers for the gene and have a redheaded child. (red hair genetics)." in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_hair

THANKS!
Okay, cool im liking the answers I have received so far, a friend of mine told me a few minutes ago that I should just wait a few days and the color should dull a little as it settles, because I just got it done yesterday,

ALSO I am african american so does that makes a difference?
HEY EVERYONE, THANKS FOR ALL THE INPUT I ACTUALLY JUST GOT A BROWN MAHOGANY CELLOPHANE ïVã¢R THE RED AND IT CAME OUT BEAUTIFUL, LIKE A DEEP BURGANDY!!

Answer
you can't dye it the same day. it would be too damaging. wait at least 2 weeks. in the mean time, you can get a rinse for now. it won't damage your hair, but it will start coming out the next time you wash it. rinses are cheaper than dyes and you can change it as much as you want :)

ETA: African American hair is already fragile. putting too many chemicals at once will cause a lot of damage to your hair. Good rinses are Jazzy and Colorshowers. Also, check out longhaircareforums.com. They are VERY helpful :)

Do bleach super cool colours work on dark/brown hair?

i've seen lots of good reviews about the bleach temporary colouring but people recommend bleaching your hair if you have dark hair to use them. the reason i want these is because they're temporary and my school doesn't allow crazy hair so i thought i could use them over the holidays meaning i can't bleach my hair. has anyone with dark hair used them? or does anyone know if they'll work with my brown hair?

HAIR COLOR & YOUR HEALTH: Personality & health risks.
There is a strong belief among some people that a personâs hair color can tell you some about their personality. A new study out of Harvard suggests hair color can also tell you about a personâs health risks
Top doctors say you can tell a lot about a personâs health from their hair color:
-Blondes have a higher risk of melanoma, especially on their scalps, and should always wear a hat in direct sunlight.
-Brunettes are more likely to suffer from hair loss, and can help prevent it by getting enough iron (dark leafy vegetables are high in iron).

Coloring brown-red hair?

I have a sort of brown-red hair (it's more like mid-brown with a slight ginger tint) and I've been thinking about coloring it in some crazy way. I've ultimately decided to go with bright red highlights (of course I'll use a temporary color first), but the problem is I know next to nothing about the chemistry involved in hair coloring, so I'd like to ask:

1) Does this color of hair require bleaching for the bright color to develop (I understand black and dark brown hair does, but I'm not sure about this mid-brown)?

2) Does temporary dye require bleaching at all (you know, with the color only sticking to the hair shaft)?

Answer
Call the 1-800# found on the box of dye or email them, (to find #, go online & search the brand if you don't have the box) they're the hair color experts they can advice you best.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab.

Answer
hi, i died my hair red and i regret it so much, it is the hardest colour to get out of your hair. I have put so many coats of brown on my hair to get it back to brown and its just gone a blacky browny red:( the only way to get it out is to strip it which totally destroys your hair! makes it feel like straw so i don't want to do that:L so i would advise not to but if you have your heart set then:
no bleach needed

What color should my eyebrows be if I have red hair?

Paranormal

I'm thinking about dyeing my hair a dark red. Probably something like this:

or maybe even really bright like this:
http://fc00.deviantart.com/fs21/i/2007/234/c/e/hair_by_encreblanc.jpg

But I pluck my eyebrows very thin and pencil them. What pencil color should I use? I'm afraid if I use red it will look like I have lipstick eyebrows.
I don't have eyebrows to dye. I pluck them out because they've always grown funny - since I was 13 I've penciled them.

Answer
I would just get your eyebrows died also. plucking them and then just coloring them, expecally with red wouldnt look good.

Is there a way to darken red hair without products ?

emmalouise

HI. i have naturally red hair and i would like to know if there is a way to naturally darken my hair without chemicals or products. ? cause i'm sick of having red hair.

thank you.

Answer
Chica, are you sure you want to change your hair color? Red is such a beautiful color!

If you want to darken it without products, I suggest you use vinegar. For your hair color, mix in about three tablespoons of red wine vinegar with your shampoo. Shampoo, then rinse. Sit outside in the sun for a few, your hair color should change. Do not substitute for regular white vinegar, as this will bleach your hair.

Good luck!

What is the best color stripping product for red hair?

Karley

I have decided to go blonde from red and I am trying to do some research on the best COLOR STRIPPING (NOT BLEACH) product for red hair. I plan to go to a professional to get the actual bleach/dye done, I just want to strip the red out beforehand to save a little money. also, should I tone it after using the color stripping product or should I just wait and my hairdresser will do it?

Answer
Red hair is notorious for being stubborn and difficult to strip, especially natural reds. Sorry, but you will have to use bleach. You don't have to use straight bleach, you can attempt to use a high lift color. But any hair color that lifts has a certain amount of bleach in it, there is no way around this. I would recommend you first use a base breaker to lighten your entire head a couple shades. Then go to Sally's and pick up a high lift blonde color, there are lots of brands, Clairol Professional, SoyPlex, Wella, Ion and more... Make sure it is the number 12, preferably 12N, which stands for nuetral. This will be the blondest color. If u wanna order online, CHI Ionic sells a 12N that will take you up nearly 8 shades, I use it for my roots instead of bleach. I have naturally black hair and bleached it and used a base breaker to get to a light blonde, so my roots are extremely dark and high lift color seems to work well. Use it on your entire head w/ 30 developer, 40 only in a salon.

My 4 month old red cocker spaniel is starting to turn a lighter color. Is this normal?

Sandra Nic

Her red hair has turned to a buff color on her lower legs.

Answer
To sophylake yes there is red colourings. The colours are black, liver and choclate, red, red and brown(unusual), red and black, golden, golden and brown(unusual)and golden and black. Those are the solid colours. The secondary colors are on the legs and tail. There are also white tricolor and white bicolor and occasionally a rare sable or silver(weimerainer color). There is also tan masking on solid color dogs occasionally. You may have a red and brown dog. But its most likely a straight red as the legs and belly are usually a bitlighter in color and under the chin.

-red highlights and ur good-to-go :) to different colored highlights probably isn't a good idea, especially if one of them is red, go With blonde highlights, because the color red usually look way better on black hair or platinum blonde,(my friends recently got red highlights, one of them has black hair, the other has brown, it doesn't look flattering at all on the friend with brown hair, but on the one with black hair it looks really hard core and awesome) but blue, purple and pink are nice on brown hair.

brown hair with blond highlights are soo 2003, try something fresh:) all my friends that have colored their hair more than a few times always say they wished they never colored it, colored hair becomes dry and frizzy, and it doesnt have that beautiful natural glossyness, and then you have to put hair mask and conditioner ALL the time, other wise it automaticly looks like pubic hair -not pretty

good luck with your hair :)

Ugly hair color. Want to change but don't know what to do?

Q. My natural hair color is an ashy light brown. When I was 16 I decided to color it a dark brown. When I was 17 I decided to color it a chocolate cherry color (brown with red undertones). Then when I was 18 I did not like the color and wanted to go back to my natural color, so I got it professionally lifted/bleached, toned, and then redyed. Now I'm 20 and my color is starting to fade back to this ugly strawberry blonde brown color. I've been very busy with school so I haven't had time to go back to the salon, so lately I've just been covering it all up with a box color: medium ash brown color. It looks fine for a few weeks, then goes back to this color. SO... a few months later, I stopped coloring my hair altogether to grow out my roots. My roots are now about an inch or 2 long so you can clearly see the difference in my natural color, and this yucky color. I'm on vacation now in another country, but after vacation I plan on going to the salon to get it done. I have saved up money, so that's not an issue. I'll be willing to pay whatever it takes to just make it look nice again hah. I added 3 pictures of what my hair looks like now. All of them are taken in natural lighting.

I've tried doing some research on what I could do to my hair at the salon. So far I've come up with the idea of getting full foil lowlights, coloring the entire thing, or toning it. But I'm not really sure which is the best option for me.

Basically, I want to have my natural color back. Right now it just seems too warm toned and too light... like a strawberry bronde. What I'm looking for is a light ash brown, or a medium brown with some highlights. Not sure. But could ANYONE give me advice on what to do??? Like I said before, I am on vacation and can't go to the salon now, therefore I can't ask any professional advice until I get back. I'd just like an idea of what I should consider doing about this situation.

Here are pictures of my hair now:

Here is are examples of what I would maybe like:

Again, If anybody could give me advice on what to do about this, I would be extremely grateful :) thank you!

Answer
ADDING another layer of chemicals on your hair will ONLY take longer to get to your natural color.
Celebrity wears two-tone hair dye all the time, trying to grow out their dye. They call that the ombre style.

Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

The allergic reaction was caused by a well-known brand of semi-permanent hair dye Chloe used to turn her hair black for a Halloweâen party. . . . . called for beauty bosses to ban hair dye chemical PPD (para-phenylenediamine) from the shelves. 11-04-11

Google: A 38-year old mother left in a coma after using hair dye. SHE DYED HER HAIR MANY TIMES BEFORE, USING THE SAME BRAND. The British woman who went into coma after a reaction to hair dye has died after a year. Updated 11-25-12. The woman suffered a heart failure, struggled for breath and became unconsciousness. Her family blamed paraphenylenediamine, a chemical found in hair colour. Her family has now called for paraphenylenediamine to be banned from home dye kits. I say do it. :3 Plus you can find some super cheap ones. If you don't already have some in mind check out this site: hairextensionsale.com

That's where I got mine. :3 Hope it helps! And good luck!

Sims 3 Skin Color and Hair Color?

Jedi_Knigh

I asked my mom for The Sims 3 for my birthday and I'm already planning my sims. I heard the skin colors included red, blue, and green, and wondered is that still true? Or did they patch that out? I see plenty of sims on the internet with unusual skin colors like that. Also how can I get two-toned hair?

Answer
Yes they still have those skin tones. As for hair when you go to pick a hair stlye the colors will be at the bottom if you want to costumize the color look in the corner for a little paintbrush and you can make different toned hair. Any color imaginable

Where can i get this sims 3 nightlife hair?

Bubblelove

If you look on the sims 3 nightlife box they have 6 parts to it, the top left part there is a blonde sim being photographed and she is wearing a red dress and sunglassses. Where can i get that hair and dress for my sims, its not included in the game and i downloaded the celeb pack and its not in that either, i really want that hair for my sims. DONT SAY " try the exchange" Either find me a link to it or tell me what pack to download thats what you get points for!
when i said celeb pack i means the red carpet collection

Answer
The red dress is in the expansion pack (I think it's black originally in CAS, but you can change the color). I don't know about the hair. It's pretty similar to a style that comes in the EP, but it's not exactly the same.

You can see pics of the dresses on this blog:
http://mysims3blog.blogspot.com/2010/10/new-late-night-screenshot-and-5-new-cas.html

It's the black and gray one. You change the main color to red and the trim to black.

bleaching red out of hair?

Chelsea Mu

k well, i dyed my hair bright red.. like very bright, and i bought Loreal Feria Bleach Blonding Intense 1 step lightening system , the number is 200, and i was just looking for reviews\tips etc; because i dont want to fack this up ..
does it work?
how do i not damage my hair that much?
will it get my hair bleach blonde it one try?

Answer
it will damage your hair, been there done that.
You can go to a hair salon and ask for an oil treatment to help your hair.
- which is what I did.

On the first try of bleaching it may not all come out, and turn your hair orange.
Do not freak out, like I did.

Bleach your hair again , it should be closer to blonde, then your going to have to buy a blonde hair dye and dye it blonde.

Your hair should then be blonde, wait about 2 days for the hot oil treatment from a salon after dying and bleaching :3

What happens when you bleach red hair?

Q. P.s ppl someone told me it would just turn into lighter shades... plus my hair isn't DYED red

Answer
Unfortunately, Red Hair (Especially Natural) is very difficult to lighten. Most people get some shade of Orange Or Deep Yellow. If you have the right hair type and the right product you can get Light Yellow which you can dye almost any shade (Except Silver Or Platinum)

P.S. If you get a good, Blue Based Professional Bleach and 40 Vol. developer and do TWO bleachings (First one for 1 Hour MAX. and the second a few days later for up to Two Hours) You Might be able to get a nice pale yellow.

Good-Luck!!

How long does red hair dye last?

Q. I just dyed a small strip (not even a strip, less than that) red and yes I bleached it. I used splat so I'm wondering one when will it fade and two how bad will it look? I mean it's just a small piece I can easily hide but I don't want it to look bad and damaged.. >.o

Answer
red hair dye fades the fastest because the molecules that make it are bigger than other colors, so when they come out of the follicle it makes a more immediate impact. Red hair dye will begin to fade within a week and turns kinda orangey. If you want to keep the red you will have to touch it up every 3-4 weeks, but this can damage hair. If you plan on doing this then you need to do a few things to help it stay healthy looking. Use conditioner and leave in conditioner everyday. If you are going to be in the sun for a while then you will want to wear a hat or lightly spray sunscreen in your hair. The biggest thing that will help is only washing your hair under cold water and avoid styling with heat if possible. This should help your hair stay healthy and make the red last longer.

hair color?

ok i want some kind of color in my hair but not yellow what color will not wash out. please help
any color does anyone no HELP!!!!
(wild hair) my color hair in between dark and light brown thank so far!!!!!1
THANK YOU!!!! for all the answer that you have given me so far

Answer
Red washes out the fastest - apparently the color molecule is largest...some junk like that.

Depends on what color your hair is. If you have light hair, you can put just about any color in your hair. If you have darker hair, you might need to bleach your hair first in order to get the color to stay.

If you want wild colors, I suggest going to a stylist, only because in my experience, the colors that they stylist uses tend to stay longer.

If you want a more natural color, just go to the drug store and buy some hair dye (make sure it says permanent). Ask one of the cosmetician to help you out if you're unsure about colors.

Your question is pretty vague. You should mention what kind of colors (natural or wild) that you were looking at. And what kind of hair color you currently have....this might be why you're not getting a lot of responses.

I have bright red hair, should I colour my eyebrows the same?

Ocean

If you google LedaMonsterBunny, you'll see that sometimes she'll colour in her eyebrows the same colour as her hair. My eyebrows are naturally black/Dark brown and im just wondering if i should colour them to match my red hair.

Answer
No.
DYEING EYEBROWS
Myth 7: Dye your eyebrows to match your hair color.
False: â Your hair color and eyebrows should not be a perfect match. A slight contrast is good,â says Warren, makeup artist to the stars. To lighten up your brows and fill them in for a natural look, use a brow pencil or powder one shade lighter than your hair color.

Never dye your eyebrows or eyelashes. This can hurt your eyes. You might even go blind. FDA does not allow using hair dyes on eyelashes and eyebrows.

That's why someone invented eyebrow pencils. If you want to change the color of your eyebrows, shave them, then line them with eyebrow pencils. Google celebrities with different color hair and see what eyebrow colors they have. Google Lady Gaga and check out what color eyebrows she's got with her so many wig changes. Have you seen Miley's eyebrows? She's now blonde!

Example from one salon to a client: "i have been a beauty therapist for 8 years and have never experienced a client react to an eyelash tint..
The client came in to have her hair done and while she was having this done asked about the eyelash tint.. she told me that she had a reaction in the past when she had it done so i gave her a patch test. about 40 Min's later she said that by now she would have reacted to it and said she would like to go with it and have it done.. so taking her world for it i done the tint she then asked for her eyebrows too..
this was on a saturday, monday morning i got a phone call from my boss saying i had to come in as the client had a reaction anyway when i got there i was a bit shaken as i didn't know what to expect the client was very sore.. she then said that she didn't want to take further action and that she just wanted me to know to be more careful for next time :s . . . . i think I'm going to give up my job too as my confidence has gone down the drain :( "

Wht should I do with my hair?

I have died my hair red I think four times and gone back brown three times. My mom likes my hair brown with highlights but I just feel like its not cute. I really want my hair red again but I'm not aloud too. And I hate getting highlights is there a way to tint your hair or no? But also since my hair was bleached would it still come threw whatever I dye my hair? Also I have extensions so it can't be drastic what can or should I do

Traction alopecia is hair loss that occurs as a result of continuous pulling of the hair. Pulling may occur from hairstyles such as tight cornrows, plaits or braids with or without extensions, weaves, ponytails or even hair rollers or curlers. Natural hairstyles can also lead to traction alopecia as well. Long heavy locks and tightly coiled twists can lead to traction alopecia. The hair loss associated with traction alopecia typically occurs at the frontal hairline, at the temples or the area of the scalp above the ears. It may also occur at the posterior hairline.
