What are some things that used to happen when you were younger?

Sone98

When I was younger:
Pluto used to be a planet
I had a portable CD player (No mp3)
Guys didn't have long hair or earrings (No offense to anyone if you do)
Blues Clues was my favorite show
Kids spent more time outside playing than on their iPods

I'm a curious 13 year old now :)

Answer
When I was younger:

1) Spanking was a socially acceptable means of discipline
2) White boy bands were a hot commodity (New Kids on the Block)
3) Permed, frilly hair was "cool" as were thick ankle socks pulled over leggings and tie dye shirts
4) Cassette tapes were used
5) The first home video cameras were hulking things that you carried on your shoulder
6) Sofas either had flowery patterns or plaid patterns
7) Paneled walls were trendy
8) Mc Hammer was the God of Hip Hop
9) You could buy an ice cream from the ice cream truck for 25 cents
10) Ghost busters, She-Ra/He-man, Thunder Cats, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were the top cartoons
11) Cabbage Patch Dolls were a hit along with Teddy Ruxpin
12) Teenagers thought it was cool to say "groovy"
13) Color forms were an acceptable (not cheap), birthday present
14) Sweat bands were a fashion accessory (around head/ankle/wrist)
15) Michael Jackson's "Thriller" was Top 10 for months along with Bon Jovi and Kiss and Whitney Houston
16) Tacky Christmas Ornaments were trendy
17) The local Nestle Plant made the entire city smell like chocolate each time it rained
18) Rotary phones were a norm
19) Kids still knew how to play Red Rover and were allowed to ram the streets without worry
20) Sears mailed out a 2 inch thick Christmas catalog each year
21) Sharp angles on cars was trendy
22) You could still buy soda pop with ice cream and foam
23) Weekly allowance was the norm
24) Dancing looked like jogging in place
25) A gallon of gas cost 55 cents
26) Bill Cosby was a beloved Celebrity figure
27) Ronald Reagan was President
28) More money was spent on local holiday events like fireworks on July 4th, or the Memorial day parade
29) "Mash" was a hit tv series
30) Men wore jean shorts that cut off at the bum.

Gotta love the 80's

I need as many songs from the 70's-90's as you can list, please?

><

I'm feeling a little nostalgic. My dad used to sing a lot and I know most of those songs are from the 70s-90s. Songs like
Tears in Heaven
You and Me Against the World
I don't wanna miss a thing
Tie a Yellow Ribbon...

I think you get the point :D
60s works too! :D

Is red the rarest hair color?

Q. Just wondering. I heard that pure black was, because asians don't have PURE black. So just want to know.
Thanks :)

Answer
yes, red hair is actually considered a MUTATION. It is extremely rare to have natural red hair. if your parents have red hair there is about a 6% chance you would have it. 5% chance if it's happened before with your siblings. and about 1% if your parents DON'T have red hair. red hair is completely random.this seems ridiculous and made up ,but luckily i just learned about it in science :) people in UK, Republic of Ireland, and Australia. All in all only FOUR PERCENT of people have red hair!
Hope I helped!
Love ya

why do people with red hair burn and get freckles?

nikki s

Answer
well, red hair is actually a mutation in the genes, so people with red hair have the mutated MC1R protein in their body.
the same mutation effects the pigmentation, so people with red hair usually have fair skin, which means the skin is easier to burn. the reason for the freckles is because the MC1R in the skin react to sunlight, so they show when you're out and about doing whatever.
hope that wasn't too confusing.

Any good red hair dyes?

Alara Sayg

I want to dye my hair bright red and I want it to be permanent and something that wont make my hair fall out. Any good ideas? It could be something homemade, maybe a special Kool-Aid way?

Answer
To make natural hair colour use...Henna leaves make them and use them to improve the quality, texture and color of our hair. Which are very cost effective and have no side affects. Here are a few receipts to make good hair care product at home with most of the ingredients available in our kitchen.

There are a variety of products available in the market for hair care. One can choose number of things to make ones hair look beautiful. Today even herbal products are very popular among people, which are not chemical based like most of the hairs care products available in the market. We usually search for everything outside home but we have a whole lot of variety available in our own home and kitchen to give a better care for our hair.

Take coconut oil and boil bitter curry leaves in it for few minutes. When the oil gets cool strain the leaves from the oil, mix olive oil half amount of coconut oil to it. Keep this mixture in a bottle and use it to massage on your hair and scalp. Its very useful to those who get lice in their hair and those who get boils and itching on their scalp too get rid of that when apply this oil.
Take coconut oil; mix mustard oil to it, which should be one fourth of the coconut oil. Add 2-3 menthol pieces to it and one lime's juice. This mixture helps to get rid of dandruff and makes the hair shiny.
Take henna leaves and boil them in coconut oil. When it cools, strain the leaves from the oil and apply it on hair and scalp. This oil gives color to the hair.
Mixture made from amla, reetha and shikakai too is very help to make hair silky smooth and prevent the hair fall. One can use this mixture to wash the hair or can use it as a hair pack.
For dull hair boiled tealeaves water is useful. It adds shine to the hair.
One can make a hair pack by taking henna powder, adding limejuice and curd to it. Leave it on hair for at least 30 minutes and wash it. It's a very good conditioner to the hair and gives them a nice color. Some good conditioning tips are, heat two tea spoonful butter in microwave, when it melts add a spoonful olive oil to it and message it on hair. Leave it on hair for at least 30 minutes and then wash it off using your shampoo. It will make your strands extremely silky.
Soak fenugreek seeds in mustard oil overnight and then boil them in the same oil in the morning. Strain the seeds from the oil and fill it in a bottle. Using this oil helps prevent hair fall and premature graying of the hair.
Rubbing lemon peel from the juicy side on the scalp is a very known and useful remedy for hair suffering from dandruff.
Take 2-egg yolk and beat them. Add a spoon of henna to it and a spoon of curd. Apply this mixture on hair for at least 45 minutes and then wash it off with shampoo as it leaves smell on your hair. This hair pack can be used one a month and is extremely useful for most of the hair problems as dandruff, hair fall and premature graying of the hair.
Just beaten eggs too can be applied on dry hair to make them smooth and silky.
To give volume and life to dull, lifeless hair, apply two-spoonful vinegar on hair and scalp and wash it off after 15 minutes.
Boil fenugreek and henna leaves in water. When it gets cool, add half lemon juice to it. After washing your hair, pour this water mixture on hair and get smooth and shiny hair for the day.
Dried amla and used lemon peels boiled in coconut oil and then strained can be used for hair massage. It stops hair fall and helps hair to grow.
Soak fenugreek leaves, henna leaves and bitter curry leaves overnight in little water or oil. Then boil them. Squeeze them and strain in a bottle. It can be applied directly on hair and scalp or can be added in any oil of your choice. It helps hair to tackle most of their problems and one who suffers from hair lice, gets rid of them if apply this oil frequently on hair.
One can make oil the same way only with bitter curry leaves to get rid of the hair lice.

So there are plenty of home made variety available in our own kitchen to pamper our hair, to protect them, prevent them for further damage and make them look more beautiful.

How to make my red hair last longer? ?

Q. I dyed my hair red last night and I know to wash in cold water and not wash not very often. Anything else?

Answer
John Frieda: Radiantly Red (shampoo and conditioner)
red hair color never lasts very long because the molecules are smaller and don't hold color as long as brown or blonde.

How to make red hair dye stay in hair longer?

I re-dyed my hair red and red hair dye fades really fast. When i wash my hair red still comes out of it. So what can i do to make it stay longer?? Plz help.

Answer
If you are looking to maintain your red hair color, special treatment will boost shine and improve color power. According to Morbid Outlook, red hair color is the hardest to maintain. The small molecules found in red dyes are easy to dislodge from the hair shaft with each shampoo. However, with a few simple steps for red colored-treated hair, you can make your red hair color last using inexpensive beauty products and salon techniques.

Wait between 24 and 48 hours after coloring red hair to shampoo. Most shampoos contain harsh cleaning compounds like sulfates. By not washing your hair immediately, you allow the red color to penetrate deep into the hair shaft. It's important to choose a conditioner or shampoo one shade lighter than your red. If the color is too dark it will distort the red color.

Use a red glaze or cellophane one week after coloring your hair. Beauty Bargainista recommends you add a red glaze to hair to slow down the oxidation of the red dye. Cellophanes are dyes made from vegetable colors that add shine to the hair. Both red glazes and cellophanes seal the red color and add shine.

Flat-iron your red hair two to three days after a coloring process. Use a heated flat iron to smooth your hair cuticles and lock in the color.

Prevent fading of red hair with a shampoo that deposits color. According to the Good Housekeeping website, "Color depositors will add a small amount of dye to hair with each shampoo." To extend the red color, wash hair twice a week with color-extending shampoos.

Protect red hair during water sports and swimming. Water penetrates the hair shaft and dissolves the dye used in red hair coloring. Apply a conditioner for color-treated red hair to your head. Cover hair with a plastic cap to resist color-fading salt and chlorine. Use a silicone-based conditioner to help seal the red color into the hair shaft.

Does anyone know what the name of this anime/game is?

Jasmine

So I saw a picture on 9gag and it says, "Some girls have kittens as pets, and some have psychotic vampires that make Freddy Krueger look like Santa Claus."
The picture shows a girl-blond hair, blue eyes, school uniform- with a gun in her hand, and blood dripping from her shoulder. A rather large man, grinning wickedly, with long black hair and red eyes eyes is bowing directly behind her. Surrounding them are dark creatures with bright red eyes and sharp teeth. It looks like they are in some kind of tunnel.
Does anyone know what this could be?

teal, red or purple? hair-dye questions?

ryry

heyy there. i'm getting my hair highlighted today {don't believe in DIY [:} and have a few quick questions-
i want to highlight it red, teal, or purple {all brighter, neonish versions of these colors}. i wash my hair every one to two days. what color would stay in the longest and remain noticeable the longest?
as you can see, i have darker hair and am only gonna lighten the base a smidge, so keep that in mind.
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f248/ryleelewhore/0608091811.jpg
thank you [:

Answer
in my hair dying experience, bright red color lasts the longest and looks the best on dark hair. it's also brighter and more noticable than teal or purple are.

DIY Hair Strippers?

VIXEN

I am naturally a brunette and I have been dying my hair blonde for over 10 years, but a few months ago I went red...i liked it at first, but now, i dont feel like me!!! i really miss my blonde hair! and want to go back. I cant afford to get it done at the hairdressers, so if i brought a hair stripper would it strip it to my natural colour or some horrible multi coloured mess? Im intending on dying it afterwards but i want to be prepared for what it will look like after the colour is stripped. A friend of mine used a wella stripper a few years ago and her hair when green!! also after it has been striped, can i go straight to blonde or do i go brown first then wait to go blonde? If anyone can tell me any good hair strippers then that would also be great. thanks alot.....oh, my hair is in good condition and i know to use conditioners etc....
P.s....I know that people are gonna say go to a salon...(even after i've added this little p.s) but im not even joking..i CAN'T afford too! I know the risks etc, but would appriciate advice only about what i have asked. :-)

Answer
the red may go orange but bleach over it again (inbetween use a very good deep conditioner)and finally use a blonde hair colur over the top to tone it.

if it goes orange first time dont try covering it with brown as it may go green, bleaching again for a shorter time will be better

of course its never ideal bleaching hair at home but ive heard this works

vagina pubic hair problem?

Sarah S

im trying to make my vagina not only easier on the eye but also to make it comfortable for myself. when i shave i tend to do the racing stripe but everything else is sort of still bumpy and not smooth. is it normal to have dark hair on your thighs on the crease of your vagina and legs? and if so how can get rid of the hair so that its not bumpy with red spots and i cant wear a bathing suit without the pubic hair bumps being so visible..
i have terrible skin which doesnt help

Answer
Hey there,

Some girls just have dark hair, and it is not fun, and yes, having it on the inside of your legs is completely normal.

Usually shaving pubic hair leaves bumps, and can become a rash.

First, I would recommend using a hair removal cream. You can get ones especially for the Bikini. Read the directions before using.

Second, if you have a high pain tolerance, I would suggest waxing. Professionally done is the best way to go.

Third, you can go to most stores that have shampoos, make-up, etc, and get a "bikini bump" cream, and it is made especially to keep the shaving rash and little pink bumps away.

Goodluck!

IPL Laser Hair Removal HELP!!?

annedoll_1

So don't laugh at me. I got IPL Laser Treatment on my sideburns and excessive neck hair and yes, I'm a girl.

My sideburns didn't hurt that much just a slight stinging sensation but not very painful. But when the lady was doing my neck it was EXCRUCIATING and the pain was almost burning.. I have quite an average personal pain tolerance but this was really horrible and I was crying alot.

Afterwards the swelling and hotness went down with this cooling fan device. The treated areas appeared clean and hairless but if I stroked my finger in the opposite direction the hairs grow in, I could feel slight stubble.

About 5 days after the procedure I've been getting pimples and red bumps on my sideburns and neck. And the hairs have grown alot. They are short little dark hairs and I've been plucking them out with my fingers ( by the way is that safe).

I googled IPL and most of the pages indicate that you should feel little to no pain, just slight discomfort. I'm beginning to doubt whether this clinic did their job right and if they're really qualified? I'm supposed to be going for repeat procedures and my next one is on the 21st.

How should I be caring for the treated areas after treatment? Should I stop plucking the regrowth hairs? And will it hurt less the second time? Is this whole procedure actually going well? Please help!

Answer
I get IPL on my privates and legs and the first few treatments hurt just like waxing did but after a few sessions the pain was almost gone.

Being able to pluck it out with your fingers with ease is a good sign and means the IPL treatment is killing the hair folicals so the hair won't regrow.

I try exfoliating the areas so the hair falls out with ease.

You need multiple sessions for it to work. I was told around 10% of hair will never grow back after each treatment and so far it is true for me. I've had over 12 treatments on my privates and 3 on my legs and I know it's pricy but not having to worry about soo much hair is SOOOO worth it!!!

If you are concerned contact the salon you had it done and ask for their advise.

Dying hair red with 30 developer without bleach.?

Joycelyn

Hi,

So I've ombre red hair, and my red have faded quite a bit and this time i want to dye it on my own, i got a 30 developer instead of 40 as it ll be less damaging (although still damaging to the hair) with the red creme. I forgot to buy bleaching powder earlier tho. So i was wondering if it ll lift my hair color. Also whats the ratio of the creme and developer i should put?

Thanks in advance!

Answer
This can be done but if you have a really dark natural hair color you may not get the desired results if you're looking really red, burgundy, magenta, fire truck even. Then with a darker hair color I'd suggest bleaching your hair first. To so its pre lightened for best results. Even if a foil highlight was done to lighten up from its natural hue to kick in the red. Also beaching roughens the hair cuticle so the red would adsorb deeper in the hair leaving it much brighter. I like my highlight idea because this would give 2 tones to the hair. It's an awesome double edge sword because this leaves a highlight and lowlight effect to the hair adding a look of dept. to the hair.

What are some tips on how to dye dark hair red semi permanently?

sara

I really want to dye my hair red semi permanently. But I have dark brown hair. Will the color show up? What are some good, non damaging hair dyes? Will dye damage my hair permanently, or when it grows back out, will it be the same? Thank you for answering my questions.

Answer
Since your hair is already dark, I would suggested staying clear of any permanent dyes since you want it to wash out and use a semi-perm dye on top of your dark hair! It will show well!!! Go to your local Sally Beauty or any beauty supply store and pick up my favorite brand... Beyond the Zone in candy apple red, and I know it looks bright, but it will not be bad at all on top of your already brown hair! I recommend to leave for at least an hour an a half! It has no peroxides, so it won't harm your hair at all! Just be careful with the dye because it stains your skin too easily! I looked like a hot pink Smerf the first time I tried it!!! If you want, even try the Crimson Red color, but I really recommend this dye!

I need a good pink-red hair dye and other tips.?

Tiffany

Hello, world!
I'm in need of hair dying tips. I dye my hair on my own frequently, and do my best to keep it healthy. But i'm trying to grow it out, lighten it to blonde, and then dye it a very pinkish-red. My problem is that my hair is currently slightly longer than shoulder length, and multiple colors. (Red, black, blue, purple, pink.) I'm tired of having to spend countless hours dying sections of my hair and just want a cute solid color, which is why I decided on one of my favorites: Pinky-red. I can't find a good brand or actual color of this though. /:
Any suggestions on lightening my hair, (with lack of bleach, if possible.) making it grow faster, or hair dye? Thanks!

Answer
If you want just a small section of your hair to be a pink or red, you could just get a single hair extension, I just do that to avoid bleaching or dying my hair to make it any worse.

anyway, product wise, you could get h2-ion, it repairs any damage you have done to you hair, seals your split ends and helps it grow healthier and faster, and alot of other things, look it up, and see if it could help

Its about $80 for a can,

with dying your hair blonde, its harder the darker your natural color is, if your hair is darker then medium brown, or even light brown it might just turn out a horrible orange or yellow, so if you have dark brown or black you'll probably have to bleach it to get a good result :/

also dont bother trying any of those legends like putting lemon juice in your hair to make it blonde, they dont work.

hope anything i said helps.

Cool hair colors for tan skin?

Iris

Okay for starters, in summer my skin gets a tad tanner than usual. So as of right now my skin color is tan yet pale. Does that make any sense? Well anyway, I'm wanting to dye my hair a unique color; such as pink, blue, etc. What color would look best with my skin tone?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you (:

Answer
I would just go with darkish red. My best friend has it, an she's pretty tan, and she looks REALLY good!
But as for the 'unique' color wise, I would go with pink.

BUT, TAKE MY ADVICE! I HAVE HAD PINK HAIR FOR TWO YEARS!
In order to get the pink color you want, you have to bleach it. If you dont want to bleach it, you'll be out of luck. But BE CAREFUL WHEN BLEACHING! If you can afford it, I would get a professional to do it. If not, have a friend help you out to make sure you get the bleach COMPLETELY covering the your ENTIRE HAIR, or the hair you want.

When you have your pink hair, it will fade FAST. You MUST keep up with it, otherwise it will end up looking terrible later on. Take this advice also: Buy more pink hair dye (one or two bottles, depending how often you want to keep doing this), and DEEP CONDITIONER THAT IS WHITE. Doesn't matter who makes the conditioner, as long as its WHITE, and a DEEP CONDITIONER. (Note: You don't HAVE to have a deep conditioner, it will just help a lot more with damage and dryness than a normal conditioner would!)
What you want to do is pour out your WHITE conditioner into a nice, big bowl, and pour an entire bottle of pink hair dye into the WHITE conditioner that you have. (Or half a bottle of the pink hair dye, depending on how bright and vibrant you want your hair color to be.) Mix and stir it around for about a minute, or however long you prefer. Once that is done, pour it back into the bottle the conditioner came in.
What this will do, is every time you shampoo, your hair color will fade. What the now pink conditioner will do, is add back the color you shampoo'd out! Leave the conditioner in your hair for about 3-5 minutes, then wash it out. Yes, the conditioner WILL wash out just a little bit of the color from the conditioner, but hardly any. This is a good way to both deep conditioner the hair you bleached AND colored, AND keep the color lasting longer!

BEWARE! Depending on the brand of hair dye you get, it WILL STAIN TOWELS, SHEETS, PILLOWS, AND CLOTHES. So be careful to completely dry your hair once you're done washing it!

NOTE: For the WHITE conditioner, a hair color treatment conditioner will also be good. Conditioner for color treated hair will help the color last longer, so if you can find a WHITE conditioner like that, that would be a good alternative for other conditioners. Deep conditioner or color treated conditioner works either way, as long as its white.

Another note: You will need to keep bleaching your roots every few months, or until you think your dark roots are too long. It's okay to bleach over some of the pink when bleaching your roots, but try not to go over the pink hair too much. It'd be better to have a professional do it, or a friend to help you out. After that, put in some pink hair dye, leave it in for however long you want to, wash it out, and use the now pink conditioner you have! :)

Probability of having black, brown, red, blonde, auburn, hair color?

Increas

What is the probability of having:
⢠Black Hair
⢠Brown Hair
⢠red hair
⢠Blonde Hair
⢠Auburn Hair
⢠Brunette Hair

So far this is what I have:
P(red hair) = 1 - 2% of human population
2-6% of Europeans
10% of Irelander's
Down less than 1% in Asia and Africa
(Human population = 6.8 billion)

â If you can give me links, that would be helpful.

Thank you :)

Genetically, Africans have more variety than other races. Every time a group advanced out of Africa, or from one isolated area to another even more isolated, another batch of genetic variations was left behind. But on the surface, it's caucasians that have the most variety, for the simple reason that they have a lot less melanin, which takes the darkness out of their skin, hair, and eyes to reveal other possibilities.

Hair color is determined by 4 to 6 genes, each with several alleles, some with incomplete dominance (i.e. not a matter of one thing or the other, but perhaps a mix of both - like pink carnations). The basic genes involved are for black hair (with a recessive allele for not-black), one for brown hair (with a recessive for blond), and one for red hair (with a dominant allele for not-red). Some of these genes are close to eye color genes on chromosomes 15 and 19, and tend to go along with those genes, which is why we tend to see certain combinations of hair and eye color more frequently than others.

Black is the most common hair color in the world, and is due to a large amount of eumelanin. Brown is also common, and is due to eumelanin mixed with a bit of pheomelanin. Blond is only found in about 2% of the world's population. It is due to very small amounts of melanin. Slight amounts of black, brown, and red make for all the variations we see in blonds - such as ash, flaxen, and strawberry blond. And red hair is the rarest of all, about 1% of the world. It is due to high levels of pheomelanin plus low levels of eumelanin.

If you are curious, gray hair is due to nothing but a little black melanin, and white hair is a matter of no melanin at all.

light colored hair is found primarily in scandinavia and the baltic sea area. Blond and red hair was probably more common in Europe centuries ago (as witnessed by Greek and Roman accounts), but being recessive, it has slowly receded northward. But you can still find blonds and redheads in places like Afghanistan and northern Pakistan, where the descendents of Indo-European invaders live.

What is red-green color blindness? How to create a punnett square for it?

tulipsi

Please help me with following questions, I'm a non major doing biology and its hard but I try to do the way I can and compare my answer when I get a reply here...please please

1)Draw the punnett square for a heterozygous mother who carries the trait for red-green color blindness and a father without red-green color blindness.Make sure you indicate what chromosome the trait is on and thus the inheritance. Then determine the probability that the daughters fromt he cross would demonstrate red-green color blindness and the probability that the sons would demonstrate the trait.

2). Draw the punnet square cross between an AB blood type parent and a heterozygous A blood type parent and determine the probability that the children will be A,AB,B and O blood type.

3).Draw the punnett square and determine the probability for the autosomal recessive trait of gray haired flies in the offspring. One parent is homozygous dominant for black hair and the other parent is homozygous recessive for gray hair.

Please please help me..I have spent so much time figuring these out and I have answers but not quite sure..please

Answer
From the information in each question, you need to figure out the genotypes of the parents in each case.

So, for the first one, you know that colorblindness is X-linked. You also know that males have 1 X-chromosome and 1 Y, while females have 2 X-chromosomes. In the other two problems, the genes are not X-linked.

1) Let XB = normal vision allele and Xb = color blind allele. Mother is heterozygous so she would have a genotype XB Xb. The father has normal vision so he would be XB Y.

When you do the Punnett square, you should end up with All girls will have normal vision, but half of the girls will be carriers. For the sons, 1/2 will have normal vision and 1/2 will be colorblind.

2) One parent is IA IB and the other is IA i. In terms of genotypes, 1/4 of offspring will be IA IA, 1/4 will be IA i, 1/4 will be IA IB and 1/4 will be IB i. So, 1/2 of all kids will be type A, 1/4 will be B and 1/4 will be O.

3) Let G = normal and g = gray hair. The cross is between GG and gg, so all offspring will be Gg, and will have normal black hair.

What red hair Dye Should I Use Next?

Demons The

I Have Used Manic Panic, Revlon,Soft Sheen Carson.And L'Oreal
I Have Dyed My Hair Red With All Of These Products
And I Would Really Like To Find A Good One. They Have All
Worked But They Fade So Quickly!!
Do You Recommend A Good Red Dye That Worked For You??
Also If You Guys Have Any Tips On How To Maintain Color
Vibrant And Not Let It Fade Please Let Me Know
Thanks In Advance :D
...............................

Answer
Using semi, demi, permanent red hair colors are always going to fade fast.
I've used scarlet red in Clairol , manic panic, redken, matrix ect and no matter how expensive or brand the red is going to fade , but the only way to help with red is to use a pH balanced hair color shampoo and conditioner. Bumble and Bumble have red color shampoo to help keep the hair vibrant, joico also has hair color low in pH shampoo, redken has color treated ones too. Also, try not to shampoo your hair everyday that will help and use a thermal protectant to avoid oxidation of the color .
What i did was a mixture of things to keep it vibrant was if i used a permanent color every couple of weeks i would use manic panic or a demi permanent to refresh the color. Those are okay for the hair because they're conditioning and just stain the cuticle layer.
Hopefully this helps and also buy some kind of moisturizing conditioner to help seal the cuticle layer as well to hold the color

Is it true that AUBURN or RED hair is becoming extinct?

Cristal

I just died my hair auburn like Ashley Simpson's red shade. I really love this color, and I noticed - I'm the only one who practically has it! I don't mind that though. :)

Anyway, I was just wondering if red hair or auburn is a total turn off now a-days, or if it isn't a turn off but just isn't popular anymore.

Thanks to all who answer! :D
This is the color I died my hair to all who are interested. :)

Answer
I actually know quite a lot of people with naturally red/auburn hair. I wouldn't say it's becoming extinct, it's just a rarer hair colour to say brown or black.

I'd say if you suit the colour it looks really good. I don't think it's a turn off at all many people pull it off and look amazing with it i.e. Isla Fisher.

Why do some people claim that blonde/red hair and coloured eyes are going to be extinct?

Na'vi

Blue eyes and blonde hair have a recessive gene. Being recessive doesn't mean about to get extinct, it means that if one happens to have brown and blue gene his eyes are going to be brown, but he can have blue eyed children if his wife has blue eyes OR a recessive blue gene. Some scientists claim that it's going to be extinct by like 300 years in the USA, Canada, Australia, Latin America and nations where people are mixed ethnically or racially. But that is just bigoted crap. Many people in the Middle East still have coloured eyes even though the majority have brown since like eons, and the eyes still survive. And red/blonde hair is also present there. If you visit Aleppo, Syria you'll notice that about 1/3 of the population are redheads with green eyes!

Also there are many racist ''Aryan'' groups that are spreading this crap to get more attention from stupid superficial people.
1st answerer. I'm Palestinian and my class is all Palestinian. There are 15 guys in it, 5 have coloured eyes. You are ignorant. Not all Middle Easterners come from Saudi Arabia!
Arabs and Europeans are both Caucasians. Just like Zac Efron is Jewish and blonde/blue eyed Palestinian and Lebanese people can be blonde and blue eyes. Just like Italians and Spanirads can have those traits, their Southern neighbours often have them too.

Answer
It doesn't make sense that it would go extinct. Anyone can be carrying that recessive gene and not even know it which is why it is recessive. It could have been passed on from someone 1000 years ago and just have been hidden all that time.

I think your right that it is bigoted crap. I am sorry but there are plenty of mixed race babies but aren't all americans mixed race? The Aryan people spreading this stuff are contradicting themselves. If they are true racists and believe that they will always be racist and their children will be racist then DUH their kids are going to have blond hair and blue eyes.

It was a fun question. I have had a lousy day and it was nice to try to answer even if my mind works so fast that it doesn't make sense. Thanks for the question.

EDIT ** It still doesn't make sense to me. How can a recessive gene go extinct. Indeed there may be fewer and fewer but it will still be there hidden. I have a friend from Panama who is 100% spanish origin with beautiful blond hair and very blue eyes. She is also fair skinned and nothing like the rest of the kids in her family. When you get the right combination these things pop up. Maybe I am not thinking clearly because I am 100% german with blond hair and blue eyes and every person in my family has blond hair and blue eyes. Since people with recessive genes can only give those genes then there is just know why that it can become extinct. Like I said before there is always going to be some couple somewhere that are going to get married and have babies and they are both going to be be blond with blue eyes. Am I over thinking this?

Is it rare to have red hair and brown eyes?

paiige_pea

I was born with really red hair, and pale skin with freckles. But I have brown eyes! My moms side of the family have mostly red hair and green eyes, and my dads side mostly has blonde hair with brown eyes. I've never seen a redhead with any color but green/hazel/blue eyes. Is my situation rare? Because I've heard that the gene that causes red hair and light skin pigmentation also causes light eye pigmentation. Idk though! Any ideas?

Answer
It is rare to have red hair but not with brown eyes.

Is it rare to have Brown eyes and Red hair?

Talia

I have brown eyes with a sort of amber near the pupil. My hair was quite red when I was little but it has faded to a muted red-brown color. I don't have any freckles and my skin is light but not too translucent looking. I can tan in the summer, not instantly but my skin gradually gets darker. Now most redheads I know have blue eyes and Red or Ginger hair. They have freckles and don't tan with very white skin. I never see redheads like me. Is my coloring rare?

Answer
I'm in your exact coloring group. As a matter of fact, my eyes are only slightly darker than my hair color. It's weird, because I'm the only person I know with this tonality. Anti-ginger gingers, unite! (:

Hair color correction advice?

Muse

I wanted to add that on Night 2 (last night) when I 'bleached', I did a long deep-condition afterwards and conditioned again today. My hair feels like all I did was re-dye it. It does not feel like 'straw' or anything so I'm not afraid to put another layer of color on it.
I have shoulder length hair that was dyed black. My natural color is a medium blonde. At this point I'm an at-home mom of 2 so I can't afford to go to a salon and would have to pay $12-15 per hour for childcare for the day. It's a bit impossible.

I got advice from 2 different people - one at Sally's and one from the local cosmetologist/hair dresser. Both said the same thing and it seemed like sound advice that made sense. The suggestion was to use a hair color remover and then a bleach. The result would most likely bring me down to an orange hue and at that point I should use a medium ash blonde over it to reduce the orange/brassiness and would be left with a dark blonde.

Night one, used the color corrector. It brought me down to auburn. Deep conditioned.

Night two, used the 'bleach'. It brought me down to a lighter orangy-auburn but closer to the root area turned yellow (I'm assuming because it had fewer applications towards the top).

I expected it to this point.

I decided to do a strand test for the final step - using a full-length strip of hair from the back. I expected a more neutralized dark blonde. I ended up with a very grey, mousy dark blonde to light brown and towards the roots are the same with a bit of a green tinge.

I'm obviously not going to use the medium ash blonde on my whole head but now what? That seems to be the general suggestion: to use an ash blonde to get rid of the orange/warm tones.

What I don't want: black, grey or green hair.

I wouldn't mind: any variation of blonde or brown. I would even keep an auburn, copper or strawberry shade.

So... how do I get a color that resembles anything normal? I can either (a) color the orangy hair first then color closer to the roots with less time, if necessary, or (b) do an all-over color application at the same time. I don't even care about the gradiated look. My husband actually likes it - if it were a bit more 'normal'. :)

Answer
Stay away from any ash colors. I have done hair for 16years and never use ash colors and never had undesired color results. I would suggest using a color that is a natural blonde or natural brown. They have a different base color and will have a more predictable result. The other colors you mentioned will only add more red and/or orange tones to what you already have. I would do a test strand from scalp to ends for the full time. If ends grab, then apply to scalp first, if scalp grabs more then apply to ends first. Good luck!

what exactly is a hair color correction?

....beauti

I dyed my hair black and i love it but im bored i want a lighter shade. does color correction take you back to your original color?

Answer
A color correction can be classified as so many things! Probably the hardest Colors to get out are black and red. Especially if those colors are achieved with a box color. In your case I would assume your stylist can either use a color remover on your hair and that would just strip out all the artificial color in your hair and start over or depending on your hairs integrity maybe you guys can work up to a lighter color by highlighting and toner your hair. Good Luck!

How can I keep the red hair color on my hair?

lowridergi

I always die my hair red, but i hate it when it starts fading right away.....any of you got any tips on how to make it last longer?

Answer
red is the harest color to keep. try that new glaze shampoo for red hair, or a color locking shampoo might help a little, but really you have to dye it alot because it will fade a lot no matter what

Would you recommend radiant red luminous color glaze from john frieda?

Tiffany

I have strawberry blond hair (more strawberry than blond) and I was wondering what other peoples results were. Does it make a drastic difference in color? Because I don't want to go from my redish color to flamming red.

Answer
If you use a red luminous color glaze there is a likelihood that your hair color will be intensified but you cannot tell unless you use a strand test on a bit of your own hair with the said product. Each person's hair react differently to color and glaze based on the amount of oil your scalp produces naturally. You should only use clear glosses for the extension of color and to improve shine.

Many hair colorists may offer to apply a clear color gloss or foil over newly colored hair to extend the life of the treatment. These glosses not only help to seal the newly colored hair's cuticle, but also help stretch its life.

Glosses can be semi-permanent when applied with heat or temporary without heat. They are considered a very healthy way to extend hair color, tone down intense colors or help to modify color on hair that is porous.

Vegetable glazes are semi-permanent glazes that provide a slight change of color that lasts from two to six weeks. They give hair shine and body and are usually activated by heat; i.e., 5 to 10 minutes under a dryer produces a temporary color reflection, 15 to 20 minutes offers semi-permanent color and 30 to 45 minutes makes color last six to eight weeks. Glazes or glosses are generally safe to use after relaxing and perm treatments.

I have naturally darkish red hair. As of right now it almost looks blonde because of all of my highlights. I have no freckles on my face, brown eyes and brown eyebrows and eyelashes. Fair skin, not completely pale. My hair stops just above my shoulders, shorter in the front longer in the back.I'm a weird looking red head. And I want to dye my hair for the summer! I would like to stay in the red range. Any suggestions? I am open to ALL ideas(:.

eyebrows and hair color?

YukiNamida

well, i have brown hair and brown brows right now..
im dying my hair red...so does that mean i have to dye my eye brows red too? O.o

Answer
Most redheads I know (inc. myself) don't have eyebrows the same colour as their hair. I'm naturally a coppery-red, but I dye mine a really deep RED red, but my eyebrows are brown.
You won't really need to dye your brows red, most redheads either have brown eyebrows or VERY fair blonde eyebrows, so if yours don't match the red it won't be a big deal.

Online/LDR with a Cancer male..is he losing interest?

Rose

Where do I begin? I've had online "flings" before, where we chatted on IM and said we liked being together ect in the past. But thats as far as they went. Those usually always last just about a month then die.

Well Dec 5th I started talking to a guy. I live in Florida, him in California. We met off of Youtube of all websites. I made a comment on a Bing Crosby video that I was born in the wrong era. He replied to my comment saying "I feel the same way" I didn't think anything of it then. Then I saw his screen name had the word Fiddle in it. I'm mostly Irish and the Fiddle is a big thing to me. I clicked on his screen name thinking I'll see a middle aged gray haired man...but no, it was a guy in his mid 20's about my age. I left a comment on his page, saying it was so cool he played the fiddle. The next day I got a personal message on Youtube from him, first we talked about his Fiddle playing, and that we both liked the same style music. 1940's big ban, crooners, and old Country like bob wills, Eddie Arnold, and even Woody Guthrie. It was so cool to talk to someone my age, throw these names out and they actually knew who they were. We both also love the old Black & White Movies and like the same Actors like Jimmy Stewart, and John Wayne, and Gregory Peck. After a week of this, he asked if I had a myspace. After just one day of emailing on myspace, he asked if we can chat on the phone.
That First 2 weeks we would talk on the phone every night for 2-3 hours and never run out of things to say. We'd text each other like 20 times a day...never would 2 hours go by without one texting the other. The chemistry was just amazing, and we even had a few telepathic moments. Like I suggested he should see the movie Shop Around the Corner. The night he watched it, I got off work, I waited patiently for him to finish the movie. When I couldn't wait any longer I called him, I was gonna ask "how much longer?" instead he says "how did you do that?? I just finished the movie like 10 seconds ago!"
Another one..when I think of our future together for some reason the walls in our house are red..don't know why...so after 2 weeks of this I told him, and he said the hair on him stood up because he wants red walls.
We wanna live in the same part of the country, like to do the same stuff. We both used to be runners, I started running again, and so did he. If there was a such thing of a perfect match for me...he is it! After the first week he was set on using his next vacation time to come to Florida in April, and as of last night he still is.

That first month was great, every single morning he would text me good morning beautiful, and go to Youtube and share songs with me. He still texts me goodmorning..but its not goodmorning beautiful andf he doesn't send me videos on youtube anymore. He used to text me back right away. now not so much. he went from texting me 20 times a day to more like 5 times now. Saturday he recieved a card in the mail from me. It was the first thing I ever sent him. He said he got misty eyed and read it over and over. He really liked it!! Monday was the very first night we didn't talk on the phone since this started, because he was sick. Didn't talk Tuesday either. Last night we talked but for only 30 minutes. I am really worried that he's losing interest, and I'm trying to not text him all the time and look like I'm desperate. As of 3pm my time 12 noon his he text me once..I've text him 3 times. He went from texting me saying how much he missed me, and saying he loves me...to well hasn't done any of that in 3 days. I said I loved him yesterday and he said he loved me to, but its not the same as him saying it first. I expressed my concern about him waiting 4 months for me, but he asured me "Don't you worry about me" like he was for real.

I've never been this serious in a LDR or online relationship before so I'm not sure if this is a sure sign that its going down hill or just calming down? how do I get him interested in me again?

Answer
Don't worry, we cancers are very loyal and hardly ever lose interest in someone. Unless they do something mean. But even then, if they apologize, we'd still be likely to give them many more chances. Seriously, when they say Cling, they mean Cling! We hardly ever let go, unless there is rational reason to. We are quite rational actually. they say we go on feelings...but yes, ok what we do is that we give our feelings lots of importance. We're always aware of how we feel. But we can also ignore our temporary, fleeting feelings for the sake of common sense....aka IT'S TIME TO MOVE ON. So we do know when to move on. We just have strong feelings and strong attachments, so as long as the person is not horribly evil or has too much drama that we is making us drown in it, we will stand by you and always forgive you. (until it gets to be too much of coure. There should always be a line there, right?)

Remember, Cancer's teaching is "Love is devotion." Haha! so there's nothin' we do better!

Ok, I have a capricorn best friend, so I see the resemblance. She gets very sad and worried that i dont call her enough or hang out enough, and I just need some space and some time by myself. I really like spending time with myself. heehee. So she holds her feelings from me and one day explodes about them when we have a tiny misunderstanding about something insignificant, and I tell her, where did all this come from, you know? I had no idea she felt that way, and i if i had known, i wouldve done something about it a long time ago.

To us cancers, there is nothing, sweeter, nothing nicer, nothing that feels better, than to make someone ELSE feel better. So, yeah, now I'm calling her more, hanging out with her more. just because she needs it, you know? That's what makes her happy, and it's simple for me to do so it couldn't be any better than that.

What you really, urgently, desperately need to do..is tell him about it. That's what I would have given 100 dollars for my friend to have done for me, tell me sooner! So she wouldn't have had to suffer for so long. (Lol.) that's just terrible! Alright, so please, go ahead, tell him about it...he will probably be like, really i had no idea..i'm so sorry. Just be nice about it don't accuse him of anything like "you did this this this and this and you never do This. WHY?!" lol. Instead try "Listen I've been very worried lately that you're losing interest in me. This thought has been killing me! Will you please tell me if I'm worrying about absolutely nothing?! Please, it's really really killing me."

We respond very well to vulnerability. To asking for help, admitting feeling bad about oneself, admitting feeling worried, sad, hopeless desperate pathetic. Haha. We do respond very well to someone admitting their own vulnerability, being very honest about it. It's very attractive to us. We like to nurture! Remember! so let yourself be nurtured, and enjoy the ride :)

You can do it, it may not end up the full color on the box.

I want to die my hair a fire engine red color without having to go to a salon I saw a box dye that I liked?

Jordan

Should I bleach my hair before using the box die?? Also my hair color fadeds pretty quick would the color fade to the bleach or just light red??

Answer
Bleach your hair. Especially if you have a dark hair color. If you dye your hair red while your hair is a dark color, the red is darkened by the black and never comes out to a bright color. Bright colors tend to wash out and fade in the shower but it won't completely go back to the bleached color. It will be a very dull red.

What color highlights do you add to red hair?

**Hunter's

I have a light red/blond color hair that is natural and short angled bob. I wanted to add some dimension to it by adding highlights but Im afraid that blond may look funny in red hair. What is your opinion?

Answer
I think you should put some dark red highlights in your hair, since its naturally light red.

has anyone done dark red hair with blonde highlights?

xolilshort

Im getting my hair done next week and I've always had pretty much black hair. I definitely want to go for a change and want to definitely do red and blonde. Ive looked on pinterest but havent exactly found what im looking for. i have REALLY long hair, so i dont do much with my hair just straighten it. i was wondering if anyone has any photos of dark red hair with blonde highlights. I want to do the highlights more underneath and not on top. Thanks :)

Answer
Just a little warning, I hope that your hair isn't black right now- and if it is, please be advised that it may take a couple of different appointments to get the color you're actually looking for- especially with your hair being long, and black. If it's not, then no worries. But if it is, black is one of the hardest things to get out of your hair, and is a logistical nightmare to try to get to blonde. Hopefully when you made your appointment, you either got a consultation first, or you told the person on the phone your situation. If your hair is all virgin hair and not colored, then you should have no problems. If you have any color on your hair anywhere, or all over, then this will take quite a while to achieve, as they will need to strip the color from your hair before doing anything else, and just doing that takes a whopping amount of time. Good luck!

What colour will my hair be after dying it XXL red over PANIC Rocket Red?

Q. I've got XXL as a base colour, but it came out pretty patchy, my hair is in pretty good condition, but I don't want to ruin it, so have used manic panic rocket red over the top, it turned out exactly as I wanted, but it fades so quickly, and started running when it rained :| So I was going to dye it over again with XXL, not sure if it will turn out the right colour though? or any suggestions to get it bright and stay put? I don't mind about re-doing my roots, but can't take the hassle of it running down my face when it's raining :(

Answer
I use the XXL red on my hair, and it turns out pretty great, but after using it for a while, it kindof damages your hair? its good though :) it is VERY red too and doesnt run, don't worry :)

HELP schwarzkopf live colour xxl ice blonde on red hair ?

Abbey

Hi i just wanted to know have any red heads or peoplewh have dyed there hair red used this? if so did the colour come out on your hair ?

Answer
if you want to take the color out of your hair you'll need to bleach it.

head to the salon if you plan on bleaching your hair for the first time because this could turn out pretty badly if you do it on your own.

a dye probably won't take the color out of your hair, unless you're a VERY light strawberry blond.
