What color will my hair turn if I use red dye on black hair?

Q. my hair has previously been dyed red, and it shows up with a reddish tint, but do you think dying it the same color would gradually make the color appear noticably?

If you have black hair, your hair will look black, and have a gorgeous red gleam in sunlight. You could bleach out some highlights and dye them red to really make it all pop.

how many washes for red hair colour to wash out on natural black hair?

i don't know if its permanent, semi or demi or whatever. s: i just got it done today. so i got my tips coloured red on my natural black hair. no bleach or toner. but something with a up lift colour, or something along that. i have two weeks of my school holidays left and i was just wondering how many washes it takes for it to wash out. it doesn't have to be completely gone, it's just i go to a private school and yoou know. ><

it won't wash out completely but it'll just fade. Maybe you should try putting a dark warm brown rinse (semi-permanent color) to cover it. you'll still have an ombre color affect on your hair but the red will be toned down.

i want to colour my hair red?

You might want to use lighter red color first, I am not sure if you can achieve that look the first time you dye it. You can try and later an just dye it again with the darker red color. Remeber red hair is very hard to dye it over with another color to cover it up. Only if you use black to cover it up. I know this because once i dyed my hair red and it was imposible to get to cover it up.

Why didn't the bright red hair color take on my black hair?

I have black hair. I just tried putting the bright red color on it and followed the instructions to a tee and it didn't even take. Didn't even leave highlights. How come? Thanks. IM and let me know please.

The reason it didnt take is because you can't lighten any hair color by dying it with another hair color.

The only thing that will lighten any hair color is bleach. After you bleach your hair lighter, another hair color like red will take and your hair will look like a combination of that color on bleached hair. (This can sometimes look pink or orange, instead of red)

If your hair is dyed black instead of natural black, even worse. Nothing in the world except a professional using bleach and heavy damaging haircolor stripping products will lighten the black enough to show another color.

Any drastic haircolor changes like that should always be done by a professional (or someone who has done this to their own hair sucessfully before)- if you mess up with bleach, you can destroy your hair, or burn it off at the roots. Good luck!

Half of my hair is Black and the other Red i bought the products to help my hair color stay red longer but iwonder if the black hair will change color .

It will not change the color of black hair. I just recently dyed my hair red so I did a bunch of research on hair care, and the Riveting Red Shampoo and Conditioner deposit amounts of red to brighten up SPECIFICALLY red, strawberry blonde, etc. hair. It basically brightens up and keeps hair vibrant. Black hair would be way too dark for it to change anything. Plus, it doesn't have any chemicals in it so I can't imagine how it would change the color of black hair. But it does add moisture and decreases frizz, so it definitely won't hurt. :)

How long does red hair color last?

Q. my natural hair color is black or dark brown, and i dye it blonde 2 times on the roots and the bottom i need to bottles cause i have lots of hair lol , theni dye it red how long will it last i dye it 2 weeks ago and am just wondering when will my black hair come back :(
i did not bleach it that ugly no i dye it blonde revlon hair dye
and it came out orange

It depends on how long your hair grows if your hair grows fast it will proably grow out in 2-3 weeks , when I dyed my hair a fiery red colour it only lasted a couple of weeks and it was growing out , it's good to buy a red shampoo as it makes the colour stay vibrant and also stores the colour in the cubcile of the hair

Do i have to bleach my dyed black hair if i want to color it red?

permanent colour can not lift another permanent colour... youl need to bleach out the artificially dyed areas of your hair (and not the natural, untouched areas) to lighter than the desired shade before recolouring with the colour you want. the natural bits of your hair should match the red permanent dye you choose. its very difficult to only bleach the coloured bits of your hair so its much better to see a professional who can work with your hair in the best way to keep in good condition and give you the most even result. also remember bleach can be very damaging so if you insist on trying this yourself be careful not to over process the hair! if you bleach all over your hair, the natural bits will go very light and will be very bright when you recolour with the red and the coloured bits that had been bleached will be a different darker colour. natural hair bleaches a lot lighter a lot quicker than coloured hair, even if the colour is lighter than the natural base.

I need to dye my hair a bright orange color for a costume party, and i bought temporary neon-red hair dye (that comes in a can), but when I sprayed it on, it made no difference in my black hair color. Any suggestions?

The stuff from costume shops and beauty supply stores do work. I've done it. Silver, red, etc... had to do it for Halloween and it showed up on my jet black hair. But you need to find out from the store if it's an opaque spray on or a tint. Tints don't work. The 'coverall' opaque ones do - and they work on every color hair.

Me and my fiance are thinking about having a baby in the future, i have black hair with random streaks of brown [sometimes blondish streaks also] NATURALLY. I'm alot of indian, plus german/french/and irish. My fiance is german and irish, he has red hair. Some of my cousins have red hair. What color hair would our baby most likely have?
