what color would look ok with red hair?

i have naturally very red hair. it kinda has natural orange and blonde highlights.... i would really like to get an alternative color streak in it. i have no idea what would look good.
HELP... please?

I vote for you to go back to your gorgeous, natural red hair! I love red hair and to have NATURAL red hair is amazing.

I thought you were asking what colors would be great for you to wear with red hair, and that would be greens and mustard and even red red, but another streak color? Maybe kind of a caramel color?

I did highlights very beginning of July, and now wondering if I can color my hair. Will it look OK, or fade?
Someone told me the sun can fade it and that since I have highlights it may fade from that too. True or not?
I have naturally brown hair, and had virgin hair before the highlights.
So, should I go ahead and color it, or let it just grow out?

Any ideas or suggestions ?

Red fades the quickest so if that's a concern go with the brown, especially if you are mostly wanting to cover up the highlights.
I'm not a fan of DIY color so if you can have it done professionally it would be better. Maybe they can just go over the highlights by painting them if there aren't too many. Then you won't have the problem of the whole head fading as it will. Once you start coloring fading is bound to happen. Then no matter what color you go, even if it's your natural it will even without the sun. Using a haircolor protecting shampoo will help but not completely.
Using 10 volume peroxide/developer is better than the 20volume that comes in box color. 20volume is best used to lighten and it opens up the hair shaft more than its needed to just deposit color. It won't hold the color as well and is more damaging.
If the color isn't that bad or super heavy highlights I would just let it grow out or have them painted over and see if that holds better.
Once you start it's a never ending cycle and if you don't have the knowledge you can mess up your hair if you DIY. There are so many little things to know that make haircoloring more successful that the average person doesn't know.

I dyed my hair a warm copper red, but it turned out as a cherry, violet, cool shade of red instead. How can I add a bit of warmth to my hair colour without buying yet another box of hair dye. Are there copper rinses or anything like that?

I don't believe so. You can try highlighting, or maybe using henna, but I suppose that still counts as dyeing. If I were you, I would wait another week (at least. Dyeing hair so closely together is never a good idea.), then use a red dye that specifically says 'warm'. L'Oreal sells these. Their "Feria" haircolor line has different shades that are categorized as "warm", "cool", or "neutral." They have very pretty, prismatic dyes that almost seem highlighted, due to the tones the dyes offer.

How to dye naturally black/very dark brown hair to a medium brown with caramel highlights?

My natural hair color is very dark brown-almost black. I had it dyed with red highlights a couple of weeks ago- they lifted the dark color where the highlights are and dyed them red. I now want to dye my hair medium brown with caramel colored highlights. How do I do this myself? How do I get the red color out and then dye my hair the medium brown with the highlights? If you can afford it, get it done professionally at a salon. If not, there are 2 methods you can use.

The first one is using a cap. This is the easier method.
You can buy a special highlighting cap from a regular drug store.
You put it on your head and it has holes in it. You basically take a stick and pull out strands of hair though the holes in the cap. You can decide on the thickness of each strand and the amount of strands you want highlighted. When the strands are pulled out, you take your hair dye and put it on the strands that are sticking out of the cap. Follow the instructions on the box WITHOUT removing the cap until AFTER you wash your hair.

The second method is foils. This one is harder but looks better.
You hair to buy special highlighting foils. You will have to know the exact placement of the highlights. You take a strand of hair and put in on top of one foil. Then you put hair dye on it and seal it with another foil. Repeat for desired amount of strands/highlights. Leave dye in for designated amount of time (Should say on the box). Take the foils out and wash your hair.

You could also but a hair dye kit that will come with everything you need and instructions.

As for which hair dye to get:
Pretty much any regular hair dye should work, just make sure the colour isn't a lot lighter or darker than your current hair colour. If it's too dark, it could make your hair turn dark red. If it's too light, it's gonna end up being a very ugly, gingery colour. So for very dark brown hair, I would suggest you go for a medium golden brown as the caramel or light brown may be a too light and you won't get the desired effect. The word 'golden' is key because although it's not light, it will still have that shine to it, making it seem lighter than it really is, and contrasting nicely with your dark brown hair.

I have naturally dark brown hair (not black, but still to the point where I'm having trouble picking a color that would show up) with natural auburn highlights that you can see in the light. I want to put a couple streaks of blue, red, purple, something wild, not a natural hair color. What would be a good idea that would show up in my hair?

I have natural red hair and everyone knows its impossible to keep color in red hair.
so I bleached a section of my hair and dyed it an electric blue and it really shows up!
so I would suggest blue or red, maybe even purple, but with it being a darker color it may be hard to see in your hair.

How to get hair light brown or ash blonde after striping black out?

So a few days ago I decided that I wanted to go back to my natural hair color (light brown/ blonde highlights). After dying it black for a year. So over the weekend I stripped it with color oops. And the only color that came out was from my roots. They turned an auburn color. Then today I used a different stripper called ion brilliance color corrector. It worked really good. My hair is no longer black but it's still pretty dark like a dark brown but with red and of course my roots are a little orangish now. So I'm planning on stripping it two more times to get as much color out of it as I can. But what I need is some advice of how to get the ash brown/blonde color afterwards without it turning my hair a weird color. P.S my hair is in really good shape even after I stripped it.
