Help with hair dying, please?

Kakarot

Okay, so I naturally have medium dark brown hair. Last year in August I started dying it with L'Oréal HiColor Excellence in Red for dark hair and it worked perfectly. My hair was undamaged, came out beautiful, and I was in love with it.

Last month I went through a little.. episode. I ended up putting Ion Semi-Permanent dye in Sky Blue and put it in my hair. It turned out a beautiful purple, even though I do regret why I ended up dying it.

But since I technically do still have the red undertone in my hair and the dye I was using was for dark hair and my hair did turn out dark, would I be able to use the L'Oréal HiColor Excellence in Red for dark hair to acquire my red hair again?

Answer
Overlapping dye onto previously colored hair is what creates dullness and dryness. If you color your hair @ home, let your roots grow out as long as you can stand, so the line of demarcation is easier to spot. Only run color through the lengths for five minutes to refresh the ends. To extend the time between touch-ups, use a gloss and deep -conditioning treatments. They will help smooth cuticles roughed up by daily wear & tear, and the hair will look shinier. ~ Harry Josh, hairstylist of the celebrities.

Celebrity wears two-tone hair dye all the time, trying to grow out their dye.

Style meets chemistry meets biology: We're talking hair coloring.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.

Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. Itâs made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. Itâs well-known to be a cause of serious allergic reactions -- including something called contact dermatitis which can lead to rashes, blisters, and open sores.
PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. One bad reaction can lead to sensitivities to other products such as hair dye, sunblock and some types of clothing dyes. Oftentimes, it's using the product a second or third time.

Help!!! Ion Color Brilliance permanent hair color!!?

Stefanie

I dyed my hair yesterday a "light intense red" with Ion Color Brilliance permanent hair color, but it came out a little to dark and you can only notice it when i'm in the sunlight. So i'm wondering will the color fade out since it says it's permanent or will it wash out? :o

Answer
Mine came out too light. I bleached my hair for 90minutes to lift the dark brown in my hair. I actually am curious as to what you did to make it a dark red. I'm looking to make it that color.

Ion color brilliance brights red?

Dylan

I bought Ion color brilliance brights in the color red and it's semi-permanent, and I have dark brown almost black hair and 1/3 of my head is bleached from 1 1/2 year ago and so I was wondering how bright would the dye look on my black hair and how bright would it be on my bleached hair?

Answer
Ion brights red is fabulous! It's nice and concentrated, and the color generally comes out bright. I've dyed the red on both blonde and orange hair and they both looked the same... BRIGHT red, as the name suggests:) it should be bright red on your bleached hair. I'm not sure about the black hair though

red hair color question?

courtneyfa

Does Ion Color Brilliance Brights in Red need a developer? Also, can I use the Ion Red Intensifier with that color on my hair to achieve a very red hot color. My hair is currently a colored red, but it is not intensely bright. All advice welcome. Best answer will be awarded!

Answer
Try bright red henna. A natural dye is better for your hair. Just add an acidic liquid to mix it up with and follow directions. It stays on longer than synthetic dyes.

Ion Hair Color Ratio Question?

Lexi

I bought a Richest Red shade from Ion Hair Color and a sensitive scalp creme hair developer (30). I want to dye my grandma's hair with it and figured I would use a 1:1 ratio, if that sounds correct? In addition to this hair color, she wants blonde highlights throughout, so I bought a powder bleach. Should I put that through her hair during or after coloring it with the red? I am pretty nervous, and I just need a little advice. I have done other people's hair with boxes but I haven't ever used this type of dye.

Answer
for the developer you want a 10, if its dimi, but for others 20.

for highlights, color the hair red first, but waite a day or so, then do the highlights with the bleach., or go to an actual hair place.

Ion Color Brilliance Red over dark hair?

franki

It's winter break right now, and next week I'll be going to my dad's house. He lives very close to a Sally Beauty Supply and they're the only store I know of that carries Ion Color Brilliance. I want to dye my whole head a vibrant red, using 6RV Light Burgundy Blonde or one of their reds like it.

Currently my hair is a VERY faded dyed black with slightly faded Manic Panic Pillarbox Red in random places.
I dyed my naturally dark brown hair black in September and I haven't redyed it since the beginning of October. I bleached a few spots of my hair and dyed over it with the Manic Panic. The black in my hair has really faded and is pretty much my natural color again (which is a very dark brown anyway), and I haven't redyed the red since almost 2 weeks ago so it's fading.

If I tried to put the dye over my hair as it is (without bleaching) using a 20 developer how would it turn out? Would I have to lighten my hair much beforehand? I don't want to have to bleach my whole head because I don't want to have to fry my hair.

TL;DR I know.
Ignore how stupid I look in this picture, but yeah: http://l23.sphotos.l3.fbcdn.net/hphotos-l3-snc6/hs014.snc6/166438_10150145756922388_725332387_8092289_6937861_n.jpg

I don't have that many pictures that show the color well...

Answer
If you want to dye it red on dark hair what i would recommend is what I use, Loreals excellence hicolor hair dye. its available at Sallys for about 6 dollars
http://lorealtechnique.com/hicolor_list.shtml

Its meant for dark hair. And just use a 30 vol developer. heres a pic of my hair after using the magenta on dark brown hair

I hope this helps :)

What unnatural hair color looks best with blue eyes?

red hair color ion
 on orange highlights..NEED HELP
red hair color ion image

Heather

What single hair color looks the best with dark blue eyes? Also, by unnatural hair color I mean blue, green, pink, orange, magenta, etc.

There should be a picture of the person whose hair is getting dyed attached to this question.

Answer
Any color looks pretty with blue eyes, but a color like magenta that contrasts with the eyes would look especially stunning. Try red, dark pink, magenta, or purple. Green looks nice too.
Here are some dyes I recommend:
http://www.amazon.com/Splat-Rebellious-Complete-Lusty-Lavender/dp/B00153Z3I0
http://www.sallybeauty.com/ion-color-brights/ION153,default,pd.html?cm_vc=SEARCH
(magenta or fuschia)
http://www.manicpanic.com/besthaircolor/fuschiashock.html
http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/Accessories/AllAccessories/Manic+Panic+Ultra+Violet+Amp+Hair+Dye-252323.jsp
All of these are available in a store, but it may not be anywhere near you so if you can, you can buy all these online. You can buy Splat at Walgreens or Walmart, along with other pharmacies and stores. Ion and Manic Panic is available at Sally Beauty. Manic Panic can be bought in other places as well, and is common online but will take a bit of searching for a physical store that sells it. Manic Panic Amplified is sold at Hot Topic.
Good luck! :)

Can you dye auburn red hair bright red?

biracial_b

So I used ion color corrector to take black dye out of my hair before dying it red. It worked and I used Manic Panic Pillar Box Red temporary hair color. It came out somewhat of an auburn color. Is there anyway I can get it to the bright red that I want without stripping it again? Also, if there is what are some good permanant bright red hair colors?

Answer
I dye my hair red all the time. Usually i also end up with auburn and have to go bright red like i want it. try using garniare nutreisse on it in the red/burgundy color and it always gets you to the color you want.

How to take care of red hair?

red hair color ion
on red hair color chart practically in all walks of life! And when it ...

My hair is currently in a healthy state right now. I just trimmed it 2 days ago, and I do not plan to dye it until this weekend. I bought the Ion light intense red hair dye and was recommended to use a 40 volume developer at sally's beauty supply. Please explain everything that I must do to keep my hair healthy and to maintain my red hair color?
I'm actually kind of scared that the result is going to come out to be a really intense red color though ):
I have black hair btw

Answer
Use really gentle shampoos and be gentle with your hair in every way, and try to reduce hair washing. Sulfate free shampoos are the best because those help the hair color to stay in for longer and they keep hair soft and healthy looking. I use the pro naturals argan oil shampoo and conditioner, plus I use the oil itself for after a shower because my hair gets brittle easily and I dye it once in a while.
