what is the safest way to bleach my hair?

besides going to a hair salon.
My hair it naturally black.
just a small section so that I could color it red
I tried manic panic but it took to long I had to wash it out before it made my hair brittle

Squeeze fresh lemon juice in your conditionare and let it sit for like 10 minutes, then wash it out! (do this very first then dry hair for bleach process) Now I have bleached my and others hair from a mix of black and brassy tones on the head starting off!! and I have found success and not so bad hair condition out of this bleach kit!!

You squeeze some drops in the bleach bowl with the bleach in it, mixing it in with your stir stick, and it helps you not have Red Brassy or Gold tones when you dye it!! ($.50 for a tube)

when done bleaching and ready to wash out use a purple based shampoo/conditioner in 1 like

Does anyone have a photoshop tutorial on how to turn black hair blonde?

I've found ones on turning blonde hair other colors, which is rather easy, but I can't find a good one on how to turn black hair blond. When I screw around on photoshop I can't seem to get it right, so I'm going to need some assistance

if black hair has enough detail and highlites , you should be able to figure something out to work with, if there is not enough highlites, like the area is all completely black with now detail, you may have to create new layer with overlay and soft light on new color,

I won't be bleaching my hair so it will probably be a bit darker/duller than in the link...

I have pretty much over processed my hair. I have been dying my hair since I was about 13, but in the most recent couple of years since moving out on my own and everything I have dyed my hair more then I should have and way too often. Anyway, it got to the point where my hair would no longer take any colour, at which point I decided to Henna it. When I got bored of that I dyed over my henna, but the colour didn't take at the ends of my hair, so I decided to just cut off my hair and start fresh. I am trying very hard to lay off the dye, I currently have red hair, and the roots are bugging me, but I at least want to get my hair into better shape before dying my hair my natural colour.

Do you guys have any advice on what kind of shampoo and conditioner I should use, or anything I can use on my hair to help make it healthier? Your hair is probably over processed. You will need to back down from all the dye jobs for at least a year. Have a professional trim your ends, then use a shampoo and conditioner which works with damage hair only and has in vitamins. Use it for at least two months. At that point, switch to something that has in less aggressive like a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Treat your hair at least once a week to a VO5 hot oil treatment to bring the life back into your hair.

I want to Dye my hair red, but i have a small problem. Can you help?

My hair is naturally a brownish/black color.
About two years back I dyed the top half of my hair Black and the bottom half blonde (of course by a professional) so still have very light hair on the bottom half of my hair (about half way through) Similar to this:

Now, two years later i haven't really touched up the blonde (which was patchy due to the terrible work of the cosmetologist! >.< ) and eventually I just got tired of it and dyed it black with L'oreal's Feira in the color Bright Black: http://beautifulbutcold.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/07124923001_450x450_a.jpg

I have been dying my hair with this about every 5 weeks, longer than the directions suggest. But i found 5 weeks to be perfect, for me.

Once i decided i wanted to make the change to my hair and dye it red i went out and bought a color remover or color stripper called Color Oops :

This turned my blackish/blue hair into a medium brown, the naturally black part that is. What used to be blonde turned into an orangey/red color .. my hair is VERY splotchy with color. I now have brown,orange,red,black and even some blonde in my hair!!!

How can I turn this mess of a hair into a red that is constant throughout? and NOT patchy??

- I plan on using L'oreal's Hi Color for Dark hair only because this would prevent me from having to bleach my hair:

I used A Hair Lighiting Gel & Would Wash It Out Realy Good . After About A Month Of Doing , My Hair Was The Lightiest I Wanted It & It Didnt Damage My Hair At All . Now The Blonde Part Is Ombred Purple To Pink . & I Had Very Dark Hair

Actually, layers and channels are two very separate things, and used for specific and different purposes, so it's not really an issue of one versus the other.

Having a Photoshop file that contains layers lets you -- for instance -- assign different components of your file to different work areas. The biggest advantage of working in an image with layers allows you to work on one part of the image without disturbing the other parts.

Let's say you wanted to make a composite photo, using pictures of three of your friends. You could put each friend's picture on a separate layer in one Photoshop file, and be able to move the picture on each layer independently.

You could also edit each layer independently. If you wanted to make a change to one friend's hair color, or bump up the color on another friend's face, you could do those things without affecting the overall picture. When you're finished and satisfied with each layer, you could merge, or combine, the layers into one composite layer.

Channels are much different from layers. When you open a new image in Photoshop, you automatically create color information channels. The image's color mode determines the number of color channels created.

For example, an RGB image has four default channels: one for each of the red, green, and blue colors, plus a composite channel used for editing the image (that's all three channels put together). A CMYK image has five channels -- one each for cyan, magenta, yellow and black, and also a composite channel. You can edit each channel independently, or edit the color in the composite channel. So channels allow you to manipulate the color of an image.

You can also create what's known as alpha channels to store selections as grayscale images. And alpha channels can be used to create and store masks, which let you manipulate or protect specific parts of an image. An image can have up to 56 channels.

So you can see that layers and channels are two totally separate things. Long story short, layers are used for editing separate parts of an image, and compositing, and channels have to do with the color mode and color editing of an image.
