Hair/hair color variations between siblings?

Lilyana

Okay so I'm one of nine children (Weird I know)
Both my parents each have seven siblings. Within their families, they have every hair and eye color.
My mom has reddish blonde hair and brown eyes. My dad has dark brown hair and green/hazel-ish eyes. and somehow they produced us.
#1: Brown hair, brown eyes
#2: Reddish Brown hair, light goldish brown eyes
#3: Blonde hair, blue-grey eyes
#4: Really red hair, and really intense blue eyes
#5: Brown hair, hazel eyes
#6 Reddish brown hair, blue grey eyes
#7: Red hair, dark hazel eyes
#8 (Me): Reddish brown hair, Hazel/Green eyes
#9: Blonde hair, Blue-grey eyes.

What really confuses me is the variation within each color. Like one of my brothers has really, really bright blue eyes but everyone else with blue eyes has more of a grey-ish shade.
Is it just that there are so many of us that every gene possible worked its way out?
Is it normal for there to be some variation, even within the shade of each color?

Answer
Completely normal. Sometimes things skip a generation, for instance, I had a really tall great granddad and my family whom are living are quite small and I'm like a giant. But yes it's normal for that to happen. So you probably had a relative or still have a relative with bright blue eyes that he has got the colour from :)

I want a brownish red hair color (more red though), like a maroon or a burgundy. Does anyone have a website with a variation of red hair shades?

Answer
I just dyed my hair that color today! It's pretty fantastic. It's a cooler purply-red indoors, but when the sun hits it it's BRIGHT red. I love it.

I got it salon-dyed, so I don't know what dye they used, but here are some swatches from Manic Panic if you want to dye it yourself:

Why do people have different hair and eye colors?

Q. It is to my understanding that each organisms characteristics developed over millions of years of adaptation, and each characteristic, at some time or another, helped that organism survive. For example, peoples living near the equator tend to have darker skin to protect their skin from sun damage. Why is it then, that in some regions of Europe, many people have blonde, red, or brown variations of hair color? How did it help those people survive in prehistoric times? I pose the same question for eye color. Lastly, why do people in some parts of Asia have different eye shapes than in other parts of the world?

Answer
it has something to do with the genes
as Gregor Mendel's study says that the most dominant gene is the one that is commonly hereditary to the children in the family!!

i think i got the point of it :D
