If you look at the ancient Greek paintings that have survived most are dark.You have light skinned Greeks and a few blonde ones today but I think they have always been dark.Also do they have arranged marriages in Greece?
Answer Blond hair is most frequently found among the populations of Northern Europe. The pigmentation of both hair and eyes is lightest around the Baltic Sea and their darkness increases regularly and almost concentrically around this region. Strawberry blond is a much rarer type containing the most amounts of pheomelanin. Blond hair is also found in the rest of Europe and beyond. A 2009 study found that light hair colors were already present in southern Siberia during the Bronze Age. Due to migration from Europe from the 16th to the 20th centuries, blonds are also found all around the world such as in North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa etc.
Generally, blond hair in Europeans is associated with lighter eye color (gray, blue, green and hazel) and light (sometimes freckled) skin tone. Strong sunlight also, on some people but not all, lightens hair of any pigmentation[citation needed], to varying degrees, and causes many blond people to freckle, especially during childhood.
In Central Asia, the Middle East and South Asia, there is also a low frequency of natural blonds found among some ethnic populations. In Afghanistan, blonds are particularly found among the Tajik (10% blond, especially in the Pamir region), Nuristani people (related to the Kalash) who have a blond hair frequency of one in three. In Pakistan, the Kalash tribe mostly have blond hair. Blonde hair color can naturally occur even among other people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa & Northern Areas of Pakistan and in India which includes Khowar people, Pashtuns, Kashmiris, Shina people, Burusho, and descendants of European colonists (the latter found in Goa, Pondicherry).[citation needed] Blonds are also found in Turkey, especially in northern (Caucasus) and western (European) parts of the country, and parts of south-west and northern Iran, especially in the Caspian and Caucasus provinces.

This same correspondent also asked about Macedonia, which I mentioned in my previous article Italians and Race. He mentions the current conflict between the Greek and Slavic identities in the current nation of Macedonia, formerly part of Yugoslavia. This more recent series of Slavic and Asian migrations into the area in modern times adds excitement and drama to our investigation. But this is a different question, irrelevant to the focus under discussion.
Note that in history, the signification of the term Macedonian has changed or at least diversified. The modern country called Macedonia is now populated primarily by people of Slavic origin. This is due to the movement of Slavic peoples from the east and north into the Balkan area in the later centuries of the Roman era and later.
The original ancient region called for over 2.5 millennia "Macedonia" was the land of the largely blond, blue-eyed and Greek-speaking ancient ethnic group called "Macedonians," the people of Alexander the Great. It seems they were looked down upon by the Greeks in what we think of as Greece now, the Roman province of Achaia. They had conquered the land area that came to be known by their name, and proceeded to conquer all the Hellenic-speaking peopels and all their known world. The Romans never conquered all the territory ruled by Alexander and his successors.
It appears the Macedonians were a mixed people too, and various commentators mention their blondness and light colored eyes. Some references indicate
red hair also, though I have been uncertain how much of that is novelesque descriptive license and how much is representation of documented information about the people. It is likely they did carry a stream of Celtic genes and culture.
The later invading Germans were also heavily Celticized. Even the Asian Huns and Mongols incorporated significant Celtic genes. Today the Celtic peoples -- by culture and language -- include red-haired and dark-haired lines, with some blond as well.
The Macedonians gave their name to the "Greek" or "Hellenic" Empires of the next few centuries after Alexander conquered much of the known world of his time. It appears the terms "Greek" or "Hellene" and "Hellenic" were linguistic and cultural designations, not so much racial or ethnic terms.

Apparently, England and Australia. It was pushed through by ICC during the stewadship of Malcolm Speed and India was intially reluctant to accept it. It was dragged into the T20 World cup 'kicking and screaming' as I remember one news report. But after the World Cup, things went into a reverse mode with the initiators slowing down and the last ones in being most enthused about it. See what I found about it in Wiki:
"Twenty20 is a form of cricket, originally introduced in the United Kingdom for professional inter-county competition by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), in 2003. Both teams have a single innings and bat for a maximum of 20 overs.
A Twenty20 game is completed in about three hours, with each innings lasting around 75 minutes, thus bringing the game closer to the timespan of other popular team sports such as football. It was introduced to create a lively form of the game which would be attractive to spectators at the ground and viewers on television and as such it has been very successful. The ECB did not intend that Twenty20 would replace other forms of cricket and these have continued alongside it.
The first Twenty20 International took place on the 17th of February 2005 when Australia defeated New Zealand by 44 runs at Eden Park in Auckland.
On July 15, 2004, Middlesex vs. Surrey (the first Twenty20 game to be held at Lord's) attracted a crowd of 26,500, the largest attendance for any county cricket game other than a one-day final since 1953.
On January 12, 2005, Australia's first Twenty20 game was played at the WACA ground between the Western Warriors and the Victorian Bushrangers. It drew a sellout crowd of 20,700.
On February 17, 2005, Australia defeated New Zealand in the first men's full international Twenty20 match, played at Eden Park in Auckland. The game was played in a light-hearted manner - both sides turned out in kit similar to that worn in the 1980s, the New Zealand team's a direct copy of that worn by the Beige Brigade. Some of the players also sported moustaches/beards and hair styles popular in the 1980s taking part in a competition amongst themselves for best retro look, at the request of the Beige Brigade. The first Twenty20 international in England was played between England and Australia at the Rose Bowl in Hampshire on the 13th June 2005, which England won by a record margin of 100 runs. On January 9, 2006, Australia and South Africa met in the first international Twenty20 game in Australia. In a first, each player's nickname appeared on the back of his uniform, rather than his surname. The international match drew a crowd of 38,894 people at the The Gabba. Australia convincingly won the match with man of the match Damien Martyn scoring 96 runs.
On February 16, 2006, New Zealand defeated West Indies in a tie-breaking bowl-out 3-0; 126 runs were scored apiece in the game proper. The game was the last international match played by Chris Cairns - NZC handed out life-size cardboard masks of his face to patrons as they entered the ground.
Starting July 11, 2006, 19 West Indies regional teams competed in what was named the Stanford 20/20 tournament. The event has been financially backed by billionaire Allen Stanford, who gave at least US$28,000,000 funding money. West Indies legends also backed the programme, and several "looked after" the teams during their stay in and around the purpose built ground in Antigua. It is intended that the tournament will be an annual event. Guyana won the inaugural event, defeating Trinidad and Tobago by 5 wickets. On January 5, 2007, Queensland Bulls played the New South Wales Blues at The Gabba, Brisbane. A crowd of 11,000 was expected based on pre-match ticket sales. However, an unexpected 16,000 turned up on the day to buy tickets, causing disruption and confusion for surprised Gabba staff as they were forced to throw open gates and grant many fans free entry. Attendance reached 27,653.
For February 1, 2008's Twenty20 match between Australia and India, the Melbourne Cricket Ground was sold out based on pre-ticket sales and 84,041 people attended the match involving the Twenty20 World Champions against the ODI World Champions."
I really find it strange that after the World Cup, Australian fans find this form of cricket so abhorrent, when one day cricket originated there, the rules of test cricket were changed the most in Australia and England and so on. In fact, the test cricket that is called the "real cricket" is quite unrecognizable from the test cricket played decades ago, when it was unlimited in terms of days.They reduced it to five days, introduced a further limitation of 1 day and then 20 overs. When so much good has come out of change, why should it not be accepted?After all, change is the only permanent thing in life.
