I started dying my hair a dark red color two months ago (I get it done professionally) and so far all I got done was my entire hair (first time it was dyed) and the roots touched up. I use special shampoo to keep the color in longer so I won't have to dye it as much. I was wondering how long I can maintain this color until it starts damaging my hair? :( I really love it and take good care of it but I don't want anything bad to happen.

Answer
Done @ home, or @ the salon . . . .Chemicals THERE ARE OTHER SIDE EFFECTS, hair loss is just one of them. Hair is 'considered dead' so anything you do while it's growing, comes from how you take care of yourself. Anything outside of your hair, it's hair products that does very little benefits to your hair. - Wikipedia.

A WOMAN was temporarily blinded when her face swelled up "like a football" following what she told was a severe reaction to hair dye.
Carmen Rowe, 25, from Swansea was hospitalised for three days after using the Clairol 'Nice n' Easy' natural black colour. She said: "I lost my job, all for the sake of a glamorous hairstyle. I just want to warn parents what could happen." She claimed she carried out a skin test 48 hours before using the dye without a problem and has been colouring her hair since she was 13. Vanessa Minnillo Lachey: "I dated a guy once who wanted me to have blonde hair. Clearly, he was the wrong guy for me! I went to a lady who bleached my hair and it literally fell out. So, not only did I go back to my natural hair, I broke up with the guy!"

Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. Itâs made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. Itâs well-known to be a cause of serious allergic reactions -- including something called contact dermatitis which can lead to rashes, blisters, and open sores.
PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. One bad reaction can lead to sensitivities to other products such as hair dye, sunblock and some types of clothing dyes. Oftentimes, it's using the product a second or third time.

Permanent black hair dye is linked to causing leukemia and lymphomas.

Also, there are reasons why babies are born NOT NORMAL, because their moms dyed their hair while they're pregnant. My mom had bloody noses for 75 years, and had no idea why, doctors didn't know WHY, but she had Paget Cancer by age 89, he died before her 91st Bday. My sister had double mastectomy by age 35, both abuses chemicals on their hair. I had frequent migraines, the 1st one lasted 14 hours. Mom started giving me perms by 2nd grade, then I started abusing with chemicals again, in the 80's & 90's. My migraines no longer, I get a headache 1-2x a year or none.

I have been letting my hair color grow out for quite a few months but i'm sick of the mousy red look.

I hate the hassle of getting all of my hair colored again when roots show through, plus it is terrible for my hair!

How can i keep the color from fading and just get root touch ups? is it possible?

My friend dyed my hair red and some of it isn't dyed. It has some blonde on it and dark spots that make me look like a cheetah. Can I use root touch up tomorrow on it?

Answer
You can. I'd suggest using a demi-permanent color because it's gentler on the hair & lacks ammonia

So I have naturally red hair.. a month ago I dyed it black, and I've had to touch my roots up 3 times already since my hair grows so fast.. I don't want to have to continue doin my roots every 2 weeks... what is the best way to get it back red?

Answer
well if you want a healthy way since youhair grows so fast just let it grow out
OR
use colour remover like 'colour oops'
OR
bleach you hair and dye it back

tip:if you remove the colour or bleach it make sure you put a good protein mask/ deep conditioner on you hair afterwards otherwise your hair will be disgusting
