I started dying my hair a dark red color two months ago (I get it done professionally) and so far all I got done was my entire hair (first time it was dyed) and the roots touched up. I use special shampoo to keep the color in longer so I won't have to dye it as much. I was wondering how long I can maintain this color until it starts damaging my hair? :( I really love it and take good care of it but I don't want anything bad to happen.

Hair is 'considered dead' so anything you do while it's growing, comes from how you take care of yourself. Mom started giving me perms by 2nd grade, then I started abusing with chemicals again, in the 80's & 90's. My migraines no longer, I get a headache 1-2x a year or none.

How to keep brown hair color fading to red?

I have been letting my hair color grow out for quite a few months but i'm sick of the mousy red look.
I hate the hassle of getting all of my hair colored again when roots show through, plus it is terrible for my hair!
How can i keep the color from fading and just get root touch ups? is it possible?

sadly the more you dye your hair the darker your roots will get sooo
