Red Vs. Black hair...?

I'm just curious I guess. I have really fair skin and light blue eyes. My natural color is bland because it is literally a little red, brown and blond...

Anyhow, I'm just trying to decide whether black or red hair would suit me best. Any suggestions?

What would you think if you saw someone with fair skin, light blue eyes and red or black hair?

stereotypes are fine. I thinking personality, stereotype etc... I wear a lot of black, but I don't really dress gothic.


I'm afraid red would be too standout-ish though.. it looks natural on me, but black makes my eyes really noticeable... I like both, I just wonder what people would think when they look at me.

Idk if this changes anything - short, skinny, long hair, some make-up (nothing drastic), jeans, lots of black Tees... and natural looking colors

I have normal brown hair & get it coloured at a salon, L'oreal 666 is what I have applied & it's a real fiery red & I get lots of positive remarks about my hair colour, I have greeny eyes though but blue eyes can really stand out with red hair. Red hair is also one of the hottest colours around & if you want a few famous names with red hair & blue eye then think of Florence from Florence & the Machine, Lily Cole, Tori Amos, Gillian Anderson. Red hair with blue eye is unique & you will stand out from the crowd, but defo go to a good salon & don't tamper with home products, home hair dyes can give a real cheap red which looks like a home hair dye. Only thing not so great though with having your hair coloured red is it fades pretty quickly, I splashed out on Ojon leave in conditioner for red hair & it really is worth getting if you want to maintain the red locks. Dark hair & blue eye is beautiful too, but I thing you need a bit more make-up with dark hair to carry it off without looking washed out. I think dark hair with natural coloured clothes is a bit boring, get yourself down to the hairdressers girl & go red. Anytime I have went dark brown I always wish my hair was red again. You will look beautiful with red hair & blue eyes, go for it.

Is blonde more dominate? Blonde is a absence of melanin or chemical as red has pheomelanin. Shouldn't Red have more of a dominance over blonde hair. Please explain, thank you.

Genetics regarding hair color is a little tricky because it involves epistasis and multiple alleles. Epistasis is a phenomenon in which the phenotype of a gene can be affected by another gene. Multiple alleles are more than two alleles for a certain trait. The pigments for hair color is eumelanin and pheomelanin. In the case of hair, the three types of alleles are black, brown, and blonde hair. Usually, darker colors are dominant over lighter colors so black is dominant against brown and blonde. Brown is dominant against blonde but recessive against black. Lastly, blonde is recessive against both black and brown. Increase in eumelanin causes an increase in darkness in hair. Therefore, black and brown hair have a high concentration of eumelanin while blonde hair doesn't. Every person is born with some pheomelanin which begins to break down as he/she ages. The breakdown of pheomelanin causes his/her hair to become lighter to grey and eventually white despite the concentration of eumelanin. Red hair is a special case. Red hair involves another, independent set of alleles called the non-red hair and red hair alleles. Please note that these alleles are separate from the black, brown, and blonde alleles, and they're located on different loci. The non-red hair allele is dominant over the red hair allele. How does that affect other hair colors? To put it simply, if a person is either homozygous dominant or heterozygous for the non-red hair allele, there hair will not be red. Instead, this person could have black, brown, or blonde hair depending on their hair color trait. On the other hand, if a person is homozygous recessive for red hair, they will have red hair. It doesn't matter if they have the genotype for black, brown, or blonde hair. Those phenotypes won't be expressed, and the red hair phenotype is expressed. Basically, red hair is neither dominant or recessive to blonde hair because they're not the same alleles for a trait.

Hey all, say that two people have 5 kids.
The father has black hair, tan/olive skin, and dark brown eyes.
The mother has blond hair, white/pale skin, and light blue eyes.
Just assume that both people come from backgrounds that match their features (i.e., they both has ancestors who look exactly like them).

What COULD their kids look like? Their 5 kids?

From a non-biological background, I should handle answering with considerable care. Memory says that eye colour is simplest genetically. Dark eyes come from a dominant gene. Unless father can find a fairly close relation somewhere up the family tree and reported to have blue eyes, all five children should have dark eyes.

I think hair colour is considered also to be not very complicated. I have seen it mentioned that red hair is a bit of a wild card. Otherwise if there is no one of Father's Family tree with fair hair, his children should also be dark haired - all of them.

Really and truly from the outside for this part, my reading suggests that skin is important enough so that there may be lots of genes with some voice in controlling it. Certainly by the second generation I would expect a range of skin colours. Again I think strong pigmentation is dominant, but I have an impression that with parents as described all of the children will have dark skins, but but not as dark as their dad.

Finally I would emphasise that there is almost certainly better researched information to be had if you do your homework on the web.

Brown hair and eyes with freckles is usually better than red hair and freckles because her freckles show up better with darker hair. However, rusty-red hair and tons of freckles beats the other two. Freckles ROCK!

How do you make brown eyes look more colored?

I have light brown eyes and i want to make them look more green or more of a golden brown. I have been told before that my eyes looked green that day, and other days really light. Does it depend on what i wear that bring out my eyes? Like would i just wear green to make it look greener, or what to make it look lighter brown. Also does lighting affect it, like sunlight might make it light brown or something.

I have the same color eyes and I also try to make them more golden or green. Your hair color is another factor that you can possibly change (ex. putting a blonde streak in the front of my black hair makes my eyes stand out because they are close in color to the blonde streak, vs. plain black hair, burgundy hair, or natural brown hair). Having lighter skin seems to make my eyes stand out more.

Personally, these are the colors I wear most: gold, copper, maroon, black, navy, purple, yellow, olive green, blue-green, red, peach

these are the colors I avoid: sky blue, silver, practically any pastel, blue-based greens, pink, white (by itself)

Basically, there are three ways to do this.
1 - use dark eye makeup to make your eyes look lighter by comparison. Black is amazing for gold eyes, but might be too overwhelming if you're very "Anglo" complected or have light hair.
2 - use similar colors to accent the desired color. Yellow, gold, copper, olive green look good also.
3 - use colors opposite on the color wheel to create contrast. Blue-based purples and cobalt blues bring out the green and yellow, but don't choose a blue that is similar to a sky blue or a purple that is too pink or the effect will be lost. This is tricky and the contrasting colors are best used as an accent to a dark color or to a color similar to your eye (ex. gold eyeshadow with purple in the crease)

Could i damage my hair by dying it again ?

I bought nice n easy foam hair color and bought a color close to my natural hair color just to test it out. I like the way it worked and i want to do a different color now. Im scared if i buy another dye then i will damage my hair , and im also scared that if i mix colors (even a week later ) i will make a crazy color like green lol. What do you think ?

Ok. First make sure you get a color that will neutralize the original color. If was a brown red and you wanna go lighter make sure you use a green base. Second, everything you do to your hair damages it: combing brushing shampooing curling all damaging. It's just what you do to repair it. When you finish all this deep condition and put moisture back into your hair. Lastly, if your hair is dark and you're staying dark try a rinse or demi perm vs a permanent.
