How to get Bright red hair Without bleaching?

no.one.spe

At the moment my hair is dyed a ginger-ish colour. I was hoping to dye my hair a very bright red [like a firetruck] but i'm not too keen on bleaching my hair at the moment. Now, i have bleached my hair before, so i'm not just paranoid about it. I just bleached my hair a lot a few months ago and it hasn't fully recovered so i don't want to damage it further.
So does anyone have any suggestions on how i might be able to get bright red hair? And i'm not doing it in a salon, i prefer to do it myself.

Answer
Going from a light to a dark usually means no bleaching is needed. and since red and ginger are both in the same color family then the red should go over the ginger quite nicely without pre-lightening or color strippers. You'll still need a developer of about 20 or 30 volume so the color gets in the hair shaft -but no harsh pre-bleaching. Be aware that bright reds was out easier than any other color so you'll need to touch up a little more frequently -about six weeks rather than eight weeks. There's lots of brilliant reds from several makers so have fun with your hair.

My hair is very dark brown and I want to dye it red. I don't want to bleach it though, because I hate what bleach does to my hair. If it's possible, what brands would your recommend to do this?
And I understand that it's not gonna be a bright, vibrant red. That's obvious without saying. But at least suggest which brands would make it the most vibrant possible?

Answer
I have dark brown hair, well had it :). I dyed my hair red/orange at the salon. The first time, my hair came out a little darker but then I kept dyeing it the same color every 3 months. That way, the red can be shown more vividly. I did not bleach my hair, would never do that. When you bleach your hair and then dye it red, the color will fade more noticeably. Red is the hardest hair color to maintain because it fades so quick. I am extremely happy with the color of my hair :)

I have natural black hair, and I would like to know if it's possible to dye parts of it red without using bleach. If you can dye parts of it red without bleaching it, what shade of red or color would it turn out to be?

I'd appreciate it if you could show some pictures of the color outcome and what dyes that work best on natural black hair without bleaching.

Thanks!

Answer
No, not really. My G/F just went through that. She has jet black hair, which she used 'born blonde' stripper/blonde kit to go to blonde and now her roots are grown way out and she wanted to die those red.

It turned out good but not red. The black hair is still black, but with a redish tint in the light

Sence it will soon be summer, I wont be able to sustain my red hair, so I have decided to go to a purple color instead. My wish would be to get it to a light purple without having to bleach it first. Will this be possible?

I did bleach my hair before i dyed it red. I'm looking for a more washed out purple, rather then a bright one.

Could I strip my hair of the color, or would that do just as much damage as bleaching it?

Answer
you would have to bleach it first, if you put purple manic panic over it now, it would turn a very dark burgundy purple, and if you put blue, it would be a dark purple, youd have to bleach your hair again or use a decolorizer, its ok if some red is still left in, if you mix purple and blue dye together, it will counteract the red and make it the purple you want, just dont leave it on too long or it will go darker than you wanted

What hair dye can dye dark hair red without developer or bleaching?

Is there anything that can dye my hair red without bleaching it first? Or having bleach INSIDE the dye?

When I wanted to dye my hair purple, i dyed it light brown first, but it went orange ish, then the hair dye came out a bit reddish purple.

Can i use that same method if there is no red hair dye that can do that?

Answer
Well since your dying your hair red yes u can dye it light brown and it will come out red
