Red hair color mix up!?

I wanted to color my hair Julianne Moore red. My hair is a medium brown and I used a medium auburn shade. The color turned out darker than what I wanted. Would it work to get a dark golden blonde to lighten it up? I'm thinking the golden tone would kick up the red, and the blonding agent would take out some of the dark.

A general rule with salon haircolor is that if you put a lighter color over a darker one it will not lift. Sometimes with boxcolor it will but chances are that will result in breakage and an uneven color. I am a hair stylist and have seen a lot of bad results from people trying to do this. Your recent hair growth and ends may end up lighter and an odd shade. The middle of the hair might not even lift at all. Your best bet would probably be to try and let it fade a little or go to a professional. Going to a professional will usually cost you less in the long run because if you try to lift it and need to have it fixed you will most likely be charged for a color correction which can be pretty expensive!

Hair color correction HELP?

I want to go back to my natural color for the summer which is like a dirty blonde, but first of all here is my dye history...
-Red from August 2010 to february 2011
-Went back to my natural color from march to beginning of July
-Rainbow hair from beginning of july to beginning of september
-Dyed close to my natural color over the rainbow in september, then dyed just my bottom layer rainbow until October 9th, i dyed it dark brown but it turned out black. it eventually faded to a nice brown
-Mixed deep burgundy and dark auburn (revlon colorsilk) the week before Christmas, same color on january 5th and march 2nd.
and here i am now....my hair is basically just brown, the red washed out. i made an apt at a salon to go back to my natural color but then i realized id have to go through a whole process to go back to blonde. I talked to my aunt who owns her own salon and she said to cancel my apt and id have to strip, fill, then dye my hair and even then its not guaranteed that my hair will turn out. She is going to try a product she has in a couple weeks on a little piece of my hair that is supposed to penetrate the hair strand deep enough but leave the natural color, but shes not sure how it will turn out which is why shes only trying it on a little piece because it could turn orange.
I take really good care of my hair i use deep hydrating masques very frequently and i get regular trims, and i dont use heat that often.
Now my question is, is there anything i can do at home like home remedies to atleast help the dye come out some, without using color oops or anything like that ? ive heard that baking soda or powder or whatever works and using hot oil treatments. Please any suggestion will help me.

You are just like I used to be!!!
Tje only thing you can really do is try the process that your aunt recommends. The trick is to re-do it a week later if it doesn't work. (NEVER try to correct a colour in the first 48 hours - I had a hair dresser do this and my hair started to fall out and took 3 years to grow out and be healthy again!)

Head lice shampoo is quite tough on your hair and can strip colour - Try this but follow it up with a nice conditioning treatment

Hair color correction advice?

I wanted to add that on Night 2 (last night) when I 'bleached', I did a long deep-condition afterwards and conditioned again today. My hair feels like all I did was re-dye it. It does not feel like 'straw' or anything so I'm not afraid to put another layer of color on it.
I have shoulder length hair that was dyed black. My natural color is a medium blonde. At this point I'm an at-home mom of 2 so I can't afford to go to a salon and would have to pay $12-15 per hour for childcare for the day. It's a bit impossible.

I got advice from 2 different people - one at Sally's and one from the local cosmetologist/hair dresser. Both said the same thing and it seemed like sound advice that made sense. The suggestion was to use a hair color remover and then a bleach. The result would most likely bring me down to an orange hue and at that point I should use a medium ash blonde over it to reduce the orange/brassiness and would be left with a dark blonde.

Night one, used the color corrector. It brought me down to auburn. Deep conditioned.

Night two, used the 'bleach'. It brought me down to a lighter orangy-auburn but closer to the root area turned yellow (I'm assuming because it had fewer applications towards the top).

I expected it to this point.

I decided to do a strand test for the final step - using a full-length strip of hair from the back. I expected a more neutralized dark blonde. I ended up with a very grey, mousy dark blonde to light brown and towards the roots are the same with a bit of a green tinge.

I'm obviously not going to use the medium ash blonde on my whole head but now what? That seems to be the general suggestion: to use an ash blonde to get rid of the orange/warm tones.

What I don't want: black, grey or green hair.

I wouldn't mind: any variation of blonde or brown. I would even keep an auburn, copper or strawberry shade.

So... how do I get a color that resembles anything normal? I can either (a) color the orangy hair first then color closer to the roots with less time, if necessary, or (b) do an all-over color application at the same time. I don't even care about the gradiated look. My husband actually likes it - if it were a bit more 'normal'. :)

Stay away from any ash colors. I have done hair for 16years and never use ash colors and never had undesired color results. I would suggest using a color that is a natural blonde or natural brown. They have a different base color and will have a more predictable result. The other colors you mentioned will only add more red and/or orange tones to what you already have. I would do a test strand from scalp to ends for the full time. If ends grab, then apply to scalp first, if scalp grabs more then apply to ends first. Good luck!

A color correction can be classified as so many things! Probably the hardest Colors to get out are black and red. Especially if those colors are achieved with a box color. In your case I would assume your stylist can either use a color remover on your hair and that would just strip out all the artificial color in your hair and start over or depending on your hairs integrity maybe you guys can work up to a lighter color by highlighting and toner your hair. How should I go from bleach blonde to a darker shade?

I am in dire need of color correction. My hair hasn't been it's natural color in many years. I usually go red or dark (brown to black). Recently, I had dyed black hair that was growing out and for some reason I let my sister convince me to bleach it. We had no clue what we were doing so we went to Sally's. After 4 treatments over the course of a week, we were satisfied with my hair. It's not as fried as you would think, but it's certainly not healthy. Well, my roots are growning in REALLY dark and I have a VERY IMPORTANT job interview in 2 days (that I just found out about). I need to do something with my hair to make it presentable. I was told I should dye it a medium brown, but I've heard about a lot of colors turning green or blue. I really need this done in a hurry and I don't have the $$ to go to a professional. Any suggestions?
It's been about 7 weeks since I bleached it and I wasn't actually looking for this job interview. I DID think about that back when I let my sister talk me into bleaching, but I had no idea I'd get this interview. Someone (a friend who works at the company) JUST called me up about an opening on and gave me the info. Had I actually been looking for a job, I wouldn't have bleached my hair in a million years. It was just a very rare moment of spontaneity when I had no other committments that would be affected.

Well, I'm sorry to say you haven't planned very well. If you've been looking for an important job, why on Earth would you bleach your hair?

Unless you have the money to see a pro, LEAVE YOUR HAIR ALONE. By dying it again, you run the risk of turning it green, blue or breaking it off altogether. Yes, it does happen. Haven't you seen those celebrity pics of Britney Spears and Nicole Richie with bald spots? That's from overprocessing their hair.

Now that I think about it, I doubt a pro would even go near your hair, after what you've done to it.

If you're afraid your hair will make you look unprofessional, immature or whatever, you're right. It probably will. But that seems to be who you are right now. If you were really concerned about getting a good job, you would have thought of it before.

Can someone tell me how to take the red eye automatic fix off? because for some reason i don't know off when i put a picture of someone with red hair it automatically turns it black. Can someone tell me how to make it not change the picture color? so i can continue with making my video.

My friend had the same problem, he fixed it by re-installing Sony Vegas, apparently the red eye reduction control is quite hard to find.

but try looking under colour correction or "stills" because red eye would only work for stills, not motion pictures.

What's the difference between bleaching hair and stripping hair color?

I have dark brown hair and I want to go a like medium auburn red.. my hairdresser said she would have to strip my color to achieve this. Everybody is telling me not to because stripping hair color is so bad for it, but I have bleached my hair before and it is still healthy. So just wondering what the difference is? Any knowledge or advice on the subject would be great, I'm clueless!!

There are products that will remove most of the synthetic color in the hair and leave the hair it's natural color. This usually works best when someone goes darker, when adding a vibrant color, or when doing a color correction.
Bleaching will remove the natural melanin that gives hair it's pigment, as well as removing synthetic dye from the hair.
Both processed can be referred to as "stripping" the hair color.
In your case the stylist is probably just going to do a quick bleaching process with a low volume, then tone it with color.
