how long does loreal red hair dye last?

okay i usually get bright red highlights at the hair salon and it usually lasts like around 3 months then it fades and theres a red tint in my hair for like the longest time. well my hair salon got in loreal hair dye that they say will last longer so i wanna get my hair done again soon and i just wanna know how long it lasts cuz i always have to beg my mom to let me cuz its so expensive >_<

Answer
red hair dye fades very quickly, the L'oreal one does too. You should try henna, like lush caca rouge for long lasting - until it grows out - red hair.
I have natural red hair, my friend has tryed to get red hair for ages, all dyes faded and she used the lush henna, after a year it is still red and she just does her roots. You can apply henna as highlights as well by just putting it on the bits of the hair you want done.

dying my hair with loreal hicolor in red?

prissy

first of all, bleaching my hair is not an option. i have naturally dar blonde hair but it is currently dyed black with a regular box dye. Ive had my hair red plenty of times, ive always always done it myself. ive used loreal hicolor before and it worked fine. im going for a bright bright red. ive had this dye on my hair for 50 mins now since it is so dark and my roots are of course the color i want but i can tell the rest is NOT taking well. I have another box of loreal hi color in red, and 30 volume. do you think rinsing this out and re-doing it will even everything out a bit? if i dont put it on my roots obviously. i also have a little bit of beyond the color zone in wild red left. would that help any? helpppp!
also, under the black dye is purple. i had purple hair for about 3 months and got sick of it. i dyed it box dye black twice to cover it, but that was 9 weeks ago. ive washed my hair multiple times since then so i assumed (which might have been a bad idea to do) that the black was faded enough to go red without bleach and that the purple had to be gone.
loreal hicolor is made for dark hair. no prelightening required, thats why im not doing a bleach wash.

Answer
The dyed black hair will not turn red no matter how hard you try. The L'Oreal HiColor is for people with NATURALLY dark hair, not for dyed dark hair. I suggest removing the color first with a Hair Color Remover, and then try dying it red again. It's very hard if not impossible to dye over dyed black hair, it is extremely damaging to your hair. Good luck! :)

How do i dye over my dyed red hair with brown?

Rachel M

I've been dying my originally light brown hair with Loreal Feria very intense red for 6 months, and now i would like to dye it brown, any shade. I have tried Boots botanic permanent brown dye and it did nothing, my hair is still red!
Bleaching is out of the question, because you cannot dye blonde hair straight to brown without using a semi permanent red under the permanent brown. Otherwise you will end up with a green moldy looking brown hair

Answer
You are going to have a warm brown for now no matter what. Its funny now red fades first but is the hardest to remove or cover. You must neutralize the red tones. Green based ashes. Or if you cannot find those blue based ashes. You want a medium or darker brown. The darker the brown and the ashier the tone the more of the red eliminated.
Good Luck

When does red hair dye start to fade?

Q. I just dyed my hair with "Very Auburn" by Loreal's Ferria,
and am planning on not washing it as frequently, in very cold water with shampoo that's for red hair.
it's like, a dark cherry red color and my natural hair color is like medium brown. however, i dyed my hair like a million times beforehand even though before the red it matched my natural roots, it went through lots of bleaching and dying beforehand.

Answer
... the next day.
Red hair dye is one of the hardest colours to maintain. It will almost always either turn orange or pink in a little over a week no matter if it is perm or not.
With your hair already being somewhat dark, it will probably wash out completely.
If you use the shampoo for the red hair it constantly refreshes your colour (beware your shower will look like you killed someone!) so that will help a lot but it wont keep it forever. ^^

How much damage does dying your hair do?

Kanade

I have naturally black hair and i dip dyed one inch of the ends with red hair dye. I used Loreal Highlights and a 20 volume developer, so the red is only really visible if there's a lot of light in the room. I have never dyed, or bleached my hair before. I would always let my hair airdry instead of using a dryer. My hair is usually dry cause I would wash it everyday. If I decide to get rid of the red, would it be better to cut off the one inch or just dye it black. How much damage will the products leave? How much damage is already there?

Answer
If, you dye your hair once or twice in a very great while it won't do much damage...But, if you dye your hair every month or week it will fry your hair...Blonde, is the most hard on your hair because it has bleach in it my Mother always use to say...Other, colors won't hurt your hair bad as Blonde will...If, it is your first time highlighting it it won't hurt it I dyed my hair about 3 times in my life and it is still healthy...If, you continue to dye it then it might make your hair coarse...And, if you decide not to highlight it you can always get highlight hair extensions...Hope, I helped............
