Answer
Clothes: A black winter dress with some red shoes/jewelry.
Maybe a velvet material of some sort.

Hairstyle(s): a cute updo with a thin rhinestone headband.

Makeup: A bid of tinted moisturizer, light foundation, or mineral powder if your skin is in bad condition. A peach lipgloss, rosy blush, and smoky brown eye shadow with liquid liner and thickening mascara.

red hair...?

i dye my hair red but it fades out after like 2 weeks, i use the shampo thats for colored hair andit still fades, anyone know how to prevent this or make the hair color last long?

Answer
Red dye is the worst dye for longevity. It always fades within a couple weeks despite whether its from a salon or not. There are ways to squeeze a little extra time out of the color, but it will never stay bright and red for a long period of time. To gain extra time out of your color, use color depositing shampoos and conditioners. Also if your hair isnt overly greasy, shampoo only twice a week. You can also use styling products with color depositing agents. Also a clear gloss color glaze will add a boost to faded red hair. (You can buy this in stores now.) The more closer to brown your red shade is, the longer it will last. Auburns and mahogney shades last longer than bright cherry reds and fire reds. Theres are also temporary colors that wash out with one shampoo. You could use these occasionaly if you just want to play around. But I've come to learn that reds are a real upkeep and look like a horrible mess when not re-colored every other week. So you could also play around with different colors. Good luck:)

How to give red hair a color boost?

Brittanyyy

I was thinking about adding a little demi-perm red hair dye into my conditioner so whenever I use my conditioner it I'll leave it in for about 3 or so minutes and wash it out, will that boost my red hair color?
I'm thinking about getting manic panic in red and using that in the conditioner.

Answer
That'll definitely do the trick! But make sure it's one of those "shine" conditioners, that way it'll be silky and shiny at the same time.
And use a good dye that isn't too harsh or anything.

Red hair what do you think ?

lauren

As a kid i wasrather bullied because my hair was red with natiral highlights of blonde and autumn colours, from the age of 11 i have dyed it black, brown, pink, blue, and now i am currently blonde,my brother and sister find it very difficult too because they have red hair and my younger sister is allways bullied in school.
I have noticed there is not that many people around with natural red hair and i had allways hated the colour until i saw this picture

http://www.shimmersalon.com/elumin2.gif

my hair isnt that colour but my sisters is and i think its a beautiful colour, what does everyone else think ? xx

Answer
I think you should dye your hair that color. It's a beautiful shade. There was actually a study done to see what color hair men across the world prefer. It always seemed to be the exotic color in their culture, the rarest. And guess which color is the rarest of them all? Red! Barely any women in the world have red hair, most are in northern Europe and America.

When men all across Japan, China, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, and America were asked which they preferred:
Japan: blond
China:a tie between blond and black
Mexico: red!
Brazil: blond
Canada: red!
America: red two years in a row now.

Cosmo asked twelve men who chose the red option why, two answers that stuck out to me were:
"I donno, I guess growing up around the little mermaid and Mrs. Roger Rabbit..."
"They're so feisty and fiery headed. You think of a smart, witty girl who's a secret sexy beast in the bed. Not dumb, not timid. I've had the best experiences with a red head."

Is that really what America thinks of red heads? I'd believe it.

Let me go ask my boyfriend what he prefers, "hey hun?" (btw-i'm a brunette)
"Are red heads hot?"
"Hell yes! Why you want to be one? Cause I'm for it."

i need a PERMANENT bright red hair dye.?

Answer
you must bleach your hair first. as white as possible, then apply some red hair dye. But beware of harmful products from China (although not all Chinese hair dye are harmful). It is permanent until you grow those natural hair of yours.

Answer
STALKER, try classmates.

How many inches does your hair grow in a year?

Q. my hair is way past my shoulders and im jw how long it will be in a year?

Answer
Hair is actually dead material when it leaves it's root - otherwise it would hurt very much when your hairdresser works with his scissor. Most people know that, but do you know about these facts:

A blonde head of hair has usually much more strands than red or dark haired heads.
Hair consists mainly of keratin, which is also responsible for the elasticity of fingernails.
A single hair has a thickness of 0.02 - 0.04mm, so that 20 - 50 hair strands next to each other make one millimeter.
Hair is strong as a wire of iron. It rips after applying a force equivalent to 60kg, only after it stretched itself for about 70%.
Even on a good hair day, everyone loses at least 40 to 100 strands.
The average scalp has 100,000 strands, or just fewer than 1000 per square inch.
We are born with all our hair follicles. Some are programmed to grow pigmented hair (as on our scalp) up to 3 feet in length.
In America in '96, 38 million men and 19 million women experience common hair loss determined by heredity.
The trait for baldness can be passed down through paternal or maternal genes.
Hormone imbalance and crash dieting can trigger temporary hair loss.
Hair biology

The root of a hair strand sticks in a bag in the skin. The strand is pushed out of this bag about 0.35mm per day, making an average growth rate of 1cm, or half of an inch, per month. The growth rate is however very much related to the individual person, his age, his diet etc.
Healthy hair has an average lifetime of 2-6 years. After a rest period of three months the single hair falls out, and a new strand starts to grow out of the bag. The lifetime depends on circumstances and person, too.
The lifetime of hair is responsible for the maximum of hair length you can have. Waist length hair takes about 6 years to grow out from a short hair cut, periodic trims included. If your hair has a life cycle of 2 years, you will never achieve a nice waist length mane.

Natural red head coloured my hair medium red brown and its to dark for my skin?

hair help

Iam a natural red head and decided to colour my hair once again with a medium red brown hair dye. It came out really dark and when i go in some lighting the red really shows and i really dont like it, I tried washing it out but its really to dark for my skin what other options do i have?

Answer
You could Go to the salon and get it stripped out. Depends if it is permanent or semi permanent or temporary, if it is semi or less, it will eventually wash out. If it is permanent, you'll have to wait for your roots to grow out, get it stripped, or bleach it and put a different colour over the top.

Hazel eyes, fair skin , dark brownish red hair What colors should i stay away from and colors i should keep?

buddhagirl

I have hazel eyes , dark brown hair , fair skin. I usually wear a dark trio purple for eyeshadow, black mascara only on top lash and maybelline shiny licious lip gloss a light pink. I use maybelline and rimmel london. what are the best colors to wear for makeup day and evening.

I wear pink , black , just started to wear green. I love shorts and skirts I am 5 foot 1 so something long looks crazy. navy blue.
my question Should i lay off the black. and do you think i could wear white and yellow.
Another question why in the hell did the bottom of my legs turn kinda yellow from the jergens natural glow and my face did not.
should i keep putting the lotion on and it should go away or try something else. If you need a picture of me look at my yahoo 360 page. I think that is it. one more thing i hate eyeliner it always gives me black eyes. and i use concealer nyc stick.

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x238/buddhagirl2007/DSC00535.jpg

Answer
I'm the same - hazel/green eyes, brown hair, fair skin. I use the Jergens natural glow, too, but it's never made me yellow. You might want to try something else or try a lighter shade. As far as make-up colors, I wear black liner on the inner, lower rim of my eyes, purple pencil along my upper lash line and black mascara. It does get a little smudgy, but I think that looks cool and it makes my eyes pop. I wear either a sheer mauve lip gloss or this pot gloss by Kiehl's called Golden Berry. It looks really red in the pot, but it goes one in a very light reddish color. For clothing colors, I find that black, white, browns and purples are most flattering. I typically don't wear much blue or green and I hate how yellow and orange look on me. Just try some new things and see how you feel. In the end, it's how you feel in what you wear that maters.

How will the pillarbox red manic panic hair color fade?

Jen M

My hair is light blonde right now with a little yellowish tint. Some are even pure platinum. This version of pillarbox red glow under the blacklight. So if I leave it on for 30 mins exactly when dying it on, what will it look like at first, and what color will it fade into?

Answer
Like all red hair dye it fades to an orange color. It will look good at first but after about 3 washes it will already start to fade. I constantly dye my hair and do not like the results i got with manic panic. It doesnt last long and they always fade into ugly colors. I highly recommend that you use a brand of colored hair dye called jerome russel. It costs just as much as the manic panic brand but the jerome russel lasts twice as long and the colors are more bright and vivid. You can find jerome russel dye at sallys, pro beauty, and other beauty supply stores.

Hope this helped.

Dark brown to red hair?

Megan

I go back and forth between dark brown and vibrant red hair. I usually do it every 3 months or so, but have been dark brown for a bit to keep from damaging my hair. I'd like to know if there's a way to get it back to a fairly bright red without bleaching it. Most tutorial videos and dyes that go from dark brown to red are usually naturally dark brown, but mine is just a permanent dye. Anyone know how to get bright red hair from artificially dyed brown hair without bleach? Thanks!

Answer
I have heard of some dye that actually has bleach in it so u don't have to dye it twice...I have dyed my hair red before and I bleached it, it turned out ok I guess. I think u should try that

co-dominance and incomplete dominance questions?

Crimson Te

1. when shorthorn red cattle are bred to shorthorn white cattle, they produce roan (red and white hairs interspersed) offspring. What type of inheritance is this?
(a) If two roan shorthorns are crossed, what is the probability of red, white, and roan colors in their offspring?
2. In the petunia, a pure breeding red flower is crossed witha white one to produce pink offspring. What form of inheritance is this?
(a) Show the genotypes of the parents and the F1 generation of a cross between a red and white petunia.
(b) What would be the anticipated offspring if the F1 plant from (a) above were testcrossed to the red parent?
(c) What would be the anticipated offspring of the F1 plant from (a) above were testcrossed to the white parent?
3. in andalusian fowl, F^B is the gene for black plumage. F^b is the gene for white plumage. These genes show incomplete dominance. The heterozygous condition results in blue plumage. List the genotypic and phenotypic ratios expected from the crosses:
(a) black X blue
(b) blue X blue
(c) blue X white
4. Two carnations (flowers), a red one and a white one, are crossed and the F2 offspring have three different genotypes. If this gene shows incomplete dominance, what is the color of the heterozygous plants?
5. In guinea pigs, coat color is determined by at least three alleles. Yellow is homozygous dominant, two other colors are also possible; white and ecru (creamcolored). Which is the homozygous recessive color?
Determine the expected genotype and phenotype ratio of the F1 generation which would result from:
(a) a cross between two cream colored guniea pigs
(b) a yellow coated and cream coated animal breeding.
6. On a fox ranch, a mutation arose that gave a platinum coat color that was very popular for fur buyers. The breeders couldnt breed a pure strain of platnium foxes; every time they bred two platnium foxes together, there were some normal foxes in the progeny. For example, in repeated matings of the same platinum foxes, 82 platinums and 38 normal offspring were produced. state a concise genetic hypothesis to account for these results.
7. in dogs, gum coloration is co-dominant, with black exerting dominance over pink. You have a lovely spotted gummmed LAbrador retreiever who has just had 8 pups. Four of the pups have spotted like your dog, and 4 have pink gums. What is the likely phenotype of the sneaky neighbor dog?

Thank you so much!

Answer
1. codominance - F1 hybrids show traits of both parents (ie red and white hairs interspersed)
(a) let IrIr = red, IwIw = white & IrIw=roan. IrIw x IrIw = IrIr, IrIw, IrIw & IwIw. So 1 red (25%), 2 roan (50%) & 1 white (25%) in F1
2. Incomplete - F1 hybrids don't resemble either parent
(a) Let AA = red, aa=white, Aa = pink. Parents: AA x aa = all Aa (pink) F1.
(b) So Aa x AA = AA, AA, Aa & Aa (50% red AA, 50% pink Aa).
(c) Aa x aa = Aa, Aa, aa & aa (50% pink Aa & 50% white aa).
3. (a) black X blue is F^BF^B x F^BF^b = 50% black F^BF^B & 50% blue F^BF^b
(b) blue X blue is F^BF^b x F^BF^b = 25% black F^BF^B, 50% blue F^BF^b & 25% white F^bF^b
(c) blue X white = F^BF^b x F^bF^b = 50% blue F^BF^b & 50% white F^bF^b
4. Aa & pink.
5. In guinea pigs, coat color is determined by at least three alleles. Yellow is homozygous dominant, two other colors are also possible; white and ecru (creamcolored). Which is the homozygous recessive color? Let Yellow = YY, white will be the homozygous recessive yy & ecru Yy.
Determine the expected genotype and phenotype ratio of the F1 generation which would result from:
(a) a cross between two cream colored guniea pigs - 25% yellow YY, 50% cream Yy & 25% white yy
(b) a yellow coated and cream coated animal breeding = 50% yellow YY & 50% cream Yy
= platinum is a heterozygous genotype
7. in dogs, gum coloration is co-dominant, with black exerting dominance over pink. You have a lovely spotted gummmed LAbrador retreiever who has just had 8 pups. Four of the pups have spotted like your dog, and 4 have pink gums. What is the likely phenotype of the sneaky neighbor dog? pink gums

will my baby have red hair ?

Charisma

So the father of my baby is irish and he has flaming red hair
his mother and sister have red hair
and his dads beard grows in red

I have dark brown hair and am native american and white

will my child come out with red hair

Answer
Hair color is not a trait carried on one gene (as used to be suspected), so it's difficult to say. If anyone in your family has or had red hair, there is a possibility that you carry the "traits" for red hair, but in general, brown/black hair is dominant and even if your child is born with light hair, odds are it will darken up.

IF hair color was selected by one gene, the odds would look like this: (B=dominant (brown); b=recessive (red))

The dad is obviously "bb" because if he had a "B" gene, his hair would be brown.

Your hair IS brown so you are either "BB" or "Bb." If you are "BB" you cannot have a red-haired child because you cannot pass on a "b" gene. However, since your child MUST inherit one gene from you and one from the father, the child MUST be "Bb," therefore, your CHILD might have a red-haired child with a man who is "bb" or "Bb." (This accounts for traits that "jump" generations.)

You may also be "Bb" in which case you have brown hair but CAN have a red-haired child IF the child gets your "b" gene, since the child has to inherit a "b" gene from the red-haired father.

Hair color isn't as easy as all this though, because not only do several genes influence it, hair color is not strictly dominant/recessive. That's why we get so many colors in-between. There's a lot of co-dominance going on.

Congratulations, and I hope you have a healthy and happy baby, regardless of the color of his/her hair!

best way to take care of chemically damaged hair?

Anastasia

I have pretty much over processed my hair. I have been dying my hair since I was about 13, but in the most recent couple of years since moving out on my own and everything I have dyed my hair more then I should have and way too often. Anyway, it got to the point where my hair would no longer take any colour, at which point I decided to Henna it. When I got bored of that I dyed over my henna, but the colour didn't take at the ends of my hair, so I decided to just cut off my hair and start fresh. I am trying very hard to lay off the dye, I currently have red hair, and the roots are bugging me, but I at least want to get my hair into better shape before dying my hair my natural colour.

Do you guys have any advice on what kind of shampoo and conditioner I should use, or anything I can use on my hair to help make it healthier? I have been meaning to stop by Sally's and pick up this shampoo and conditioner called : Brazilian Tech it looks like this : http://s7d3.scene7.com/is/image/SallyBeauty/SBS-539214?wid=225&hei=225&fmt=jpeg,rgb&qlt=85,1&op_sharpen=1&resMode=bicub&op_usm=0.9,1.0,4,0&iccEmbed=0

I have. This is a place for advice, not for smart ass comments. I wanted personal input, not something random I find online. Kthnx :)

His comment got deleted, thank you guys for your helpful comments :)

Answer
Your hair is probably over processed. You will need to back down from all the dye jobs for at least a year. Have a professional trim your ends, then use a shampoo and conditioner which works with damage hair only and has in vitamins. Use it for at least two months. At that point, switch to something that has in less aggressive like a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Treat your hair at least once a week to a VO5 hot oil treatment to bring the life back into your hair.

Hair Color Gone Wrong?

Valencia

So yesterday I went to the beautician to get my hair colored. I specifically sent her multiple pictures of the color i wanted. So she comes back with a jazzy red. It was really pretty on the box but in order for my hair to take any color, she had to lighten it with a lifter. Fast forward she but the jazzy red in, washed it out, put another red in , washed it out, and i ended up with this rihanna red color. It was cute yesterday, now i hate it and its hideous. I have blonde and pinkish roots from the lifter, it's too red for my skin tone, and i just all around hate it. Thank God my hair isn't damaged or falling out. I really wanna go back to black but i know i can't dye it again anytime soon, and trust me it is freaking ugly. Its making me look really unattractive and trashy. What can i do? And I'm not going back to her

Answer
It's possible that the color she put in was just a semi-permanent color and the stylist didn't realize it. Another scenario could be after bleaching, or lifting, it made you're hair too porous and after a wash or two the color just fell out. If you color your hair often this happens quite commonly. Just go in and schedule a PPT regiment over the next month or two. Simple, cheap, repairs the hair like new! As for the color, next time you go in, no box colors btw because they ruin the hair faster than anything, let them know the situation and ask them about using a filler to refresh the color and bring it back to the original brightness, the way you like it. I would also recommend, not knowing your hygiene or beauty routine, to wash your hair once every few days. Still shower every day! And if you can't deal with greasy hair there are tricks for that. Also, whether the grease grosses you out or not, wash with cold cold water! Hot water opens up the cuticle of the hair to let in vitamines and moisture, but also lets out color that doesn't take. Leading to fading. Voila!

Can you dye your hair over permanent hair color?

*barbie*

About two weeks ago I dyed my hair jazzy red ( I used Silk Elements permanet hair color) but it didnt come out how I wanted it to. It wasn't red enough and only the front of my hair got really red but the back only looked reddish brown. I've heard people say you can use a color stripper. And I was wondering could I Just dye my hair jet black and will it cover up the color I have now? I plan on keeping my hair jet black if I do decide to color it again.

Answer
Yes, you can. The lighter part in the front might not hold the color as well. Don't use a color stripper.
I'm a professional hairdresser. Can't really give the best advice without seeing and feeling hair texture.
Good Luck!

I have a huge mole on my shoulder... and it's changing, and quite frankly, I'm worried.?

Leigh

I've had this mole on my shoulder since I must have been four years old, and, it's always been the same size and shape (just smaller than the average sized chocolate chip, not quite the width of a grown female's pinky nail, but not quite small either). Also, I've always had a few light hairs that grow out of it. But about six months ago it started changing color as well as began bulging out a little. It began getting paler and more skin-color rather than its usual dark brown. It's always been soft to touch like skin, but has recently gotten thicker-feeling. Also as far as the bulging, every now and then it will inflate then ooze a clear, watery ooze, then it would be normal again. Not a lot of ooze, though, just a little.

Just now, however, I felt it and it was really swollen, and really cold, and hard, and really pale, almost transparent. It was a little wet from the clear ooze so I gave it a little squeeze like a zit and a little more came out. So, and I probably shouldn't have done this, but, I squeezed it hard enough to completely drain it, and it started bleeding a little. It oozed enough water to drench the tips of my fingers. It then returned to it's usual self (and by usual I mean to the state it has become recently, not before six months ago). But it is red now from blood just under the skin's surface.

Should I be alarmed?

Answer
I don't mean to scare you but that is one of the classic textbook signs. You should show it to a doctor. Doctors don't even bother these days to do a biopsy, he'll just take it off right there in the office. It's about a ten-minute thing, a few squirts of novocaine, trace around it with a knife, and two or three stitches. Then the little lump of tissue goes to a lab to be examined under a microscope for cancer cells.

Good luck!

Looking for a painting!?

R

im looking for a paint which i forgot the name and the artist. it is a portrait of a couple. The painting must be old and migt be from a scene from Shakespear's play. The red hair lady is on the horse, looking at a knight. The knight looks up the lady, standing straight beside the horse, his hand on his chest.

Answer
The one that springs immediately to mind is:

Frank Dicksee (1853-1928)
La Belle Dame Sans Merci

http://www.artrenewal.org/asp/database/art.asp?aid=29

but the knight doesn't have his hand on his chest. Not Shakespeare either, but from the poem of the same name by Keats.

Arthur Hughes (1832-1915) also did a La Belle Dame Sans Merci, again, not hand on chest but almost...

Notoriousy

I am looking to finding the right hair color that will complement, not match, my skinâs undertones.

In General
My skin tone: I dont burn but tan decently easy. I am pale though but with some olive in my skin tone. So I think im cool.
My natural hair color is: medium brown but currently is a unknown mix of random colors.
Eyes: hazel: Deep blue, Dark green, spec of golden brown (considered to be warm)

How do I really nail down my skin type and find the right hair color to revive my complexion? Is my coloring light or medium to deep? I want to be a red head if possible? Can someone help me figure out what color would make my complexion glow and skin will look healthier than ever before?A flattering hair shade to brighten up my features and give you a dose of instant glamour.

Wednesday my friend is dying my hair (shes almost done with beauty school) and extensions.
Nothing that will make me look too pale, yellow, swallow, drained, washed out or dull please. And please be specific and descripitive as to what you suggest so i no what to tell my friend.

What you mean by summer blonde? their are so many shades of blonde. I need people to answer me who no what they taking bout and now bout undertones and hair coloring. thanks

My skin tone is neutral fair with a slightly yellow undertone. I tan real easy and when I have brighter shades of red hair it makes my face look yellow. What hair colors go best with this type of skin tone? Which celebrities have this skin tone? Thanks!

Answer
A dark blonde or a very light brown matches that skin tone quite well. My skin tone is almost the same and I also get really tan so, yeah. (:

How do you determine the best hair color for you based on your skin tone?

It'sa Me,

I think my hair color is a little... not very great so I'm trying to figure out the best hair color for my skin tone, and all I get is these stupid virtual picture hair things... I don't care about what a fake hairstyle looks like on my picture. I need the right color that looks best with my skin tone.

Answer
Well, maybe you're using the wrong type of virtual hairdresser.
Try seventeen.com's, because it works really well.
Or else purchase some different semi-permants or temporary dyes. They can be purchased at specialty beauty shops, like Sally's.
Temporary will just last a wash or two, and semi permanent (depending on how porous your hair is) will last about 10 washes.
Talk to your stylist about possible colors, too. They have little wig tester things that they hold up to your skin that'll get what color'll be pretty for your skin. :]

Generally, warm blondes look good on lighter skin, and the darker your skin, the darker your hair. Try getting highlights and lowlights, and using a glaze (John Freida - Walmart - $10) in your color to boost it.
It's all the rave in Seventeen, but I've used it and am personally in love with it. It keeps your red actually red, as long as you use it. :]

Suave heat spray

How do i dye over my dyed red hair with brown?

Rachel M

I've been dying my originally light brown hair with Loreal Feria very intense red for 6 months, and now i would like to dye it brown, any shade. I have tried Boots botanic permanent brown dye and it did nothing, my hair is still red!
Bleaching is out of the question, because you cannot dye blonde hair straight to brown without using a semi permanent red under the permanent brown. Otherwise you will end up with a green moldy looking brown hair

Answer
You are going to have a warm brown for now no matter what. Its funny now red fades first but is the hardest to remove or cover. You must neutralize the red tones. Green based ashes. Or if you cannot find those blue based ashes. You want a medium or darker brown. The darker the brown and the ashier the tone the more of the red eliminated.
Good Luck

I was born with really red hair, and pale skin with freckles. But I have brown eyes! My moms side of the family have mostly red hair and green eyes, and my dads side mostly has blonde hair with brown eyes. I've never seen a redhead with any color but green/hazel/blue eyes. Is my situation rare? Because I've heard that the gene that causes red hair and light skin pigmentation also causes light eye pigmentation. Idk though! Any ideas?

It is rare to have red hair but not with brown eyes.

What are the genetics of hair color and eye color?

Colin

Hello,

I am writing a story in which the main character has red hair and green eyes.

His father has blond hair and blue eyes, and I have not decided on his mother.

The mystery in the story revolves around the fact that the son does not know these are his real parents, because he was taken away at birth.

If I make the mother with red hair and green eyes, it will be very obvious to the reader that she is the mother of the main character.

So, can I make the hair color of the mother something other than red? Can I make her eye color something other than green?

Could it be possible that the son inherited these characteristics from a grandparent?

I do not have any knowledge of genetics, and if some scientific person could help me out, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks.

Answer
Well I'm not 'some scientific person' but i do know that yes it is possible for her to have different coloured hair/eyes from her son. We actually had a biology lesson on genetics in school just a few weeks ago.

Also,my cousin has red hair and blue eyes whilst his mother and father are both brunettes and both have green eyes. His grandfather on the other hand was red headed before his hair turned white.I have no idea where he got his blue eyes from.

Hope i was of some help and good luck with your story.

Okay, so until about 3 months ago, I never really appreciated my gift. I was given beautiful red hair, and i ruined it. About a year ago I would have my mom frost my hair with a kit, I frosted it Blonde ( the last time I frosted it was in April ), and you can somewhat tell my hair is naturally red but it looks like faded red, how long until I can expect for my natural hair color to be back, and what makes the color fade faster?

Answer
If you go to a beauty supply store, they sell shampoos and conditioners that take out permanate hair color :)

Can I straighten my hair if I dye it red?

Natass

I dyed my hair a few days ago (bright red over brown) and I realy want to straighten it with my flat iron, but everyone says that red hair color fades the fastest with heat, also can I use a temorary color rinse between professional colorings to freshen up the color?

Thankyou!

Answer
Yes, red does fade faster than any other color, but that's not so much do to heat as it is due to hot water, like in the shower. It's perfectly fine to straighten your hair, though I would always recommend a thermal heat spray to protect your hair.
You can use a temporary color in between professional colorings (Though, I really think it's easier to just do it all yourself), but you've got to make sure the dye is a good match as to not tint the hair a different color, even after the temp washes out.
If you really want a bright red, use Pillarbox red from Manic Panic. I've used that color, it's pretty intense and really pretty.

I just dyed my hair that color today! It's pretty fantastic. It's a cooler purply-red indoors, but when the sun hits it it's BRIGHT red. I love it.

I got it salon-dyed, so I don't know what dye they used, but here are some swatches from Manic Panic if you want to dye it yourself:

Origin of Africans with red hair and freckles?

Chee Chum

My family is of African descent and I noticed that red hair and freckles runs in the family (and perhaps "red") skin. My uncle had it but he eventually got darker and his hair is now black. But some people in my family still have it. Where can this be traced back to?

Answer
A redhead of African descent is about as common as a Caucasian with red eyes. And there's a good reason for this being an albino causes them both.

Except when people are of mixed ancestry, red hair in Africans is usually caused by a kind of albinism. When people think of albinos, they tend to think of white hair, pale skin and red eyes. While this is true for Caucasians, albinism works differently in people of African descent.

There are a few different kinds of albinism in people of African descent, but the one that gives red hair is called rufous albinism. People with this condition have a red-bronze skin color, ginger-red hair, and blue or brown eyes.

How is someone an albino? All of our coloring our skin, hair, and eye colors comes from melanin. Melanin is just a pigment, or colored chemical substance, like the ones that are used to dye your clothes or maybe even your hair! Melanin comes in two different forms pheomelanin (the red kind) and eumelanin (the brown kind).

Being an albino just means that your body doesn't make melanin the right way. There are lots of different genes that can be mutated to cause albinism.

Why are so many genes involved? To make each kind of melanin, your cells have to carry out several chemical steps. It's kind of like an assembly line. And just like in an assembly line where a separate person does each step in the process of making a product, your cells use a separate gene to take care of each step in the chemical process for making melanin.

Remember, a gene is a recipe for making a specific protein. Making melanin requires lots of special proteins called enzymes. Enzymes are just proteins that can bind to a chemical or protein and make a chemical reaction happen. They're the workers in the assembly lines of your cells.

A mutation can happen in the gene coding for any one of the enzymes involved in making melanin, leading to the enzyme not doing its job. Depending on how far into the process of making melanin that enzyme is, the end product will be different.

Imagine an assembly line for a toy truck. If the person who puts the wheels on didn't do his job, then the truck wouldn't be able to roll. But if instead further down the line the person who paints the truck doesn't do her job, the truck would still roll but not be the usual color. The same thing can happen in the pathway to make melanin depending on which enzyme is missing, the end product melanin can be changed in different ways.

The red hair in African people is caused by a mutation in a gene called TYRP1. The protein made by this gene is thought to be involved in bringing together all the enzymes needed to make brown melanin. So redheads of African descent completely lack brown melanin and are therefore albino.

But what about red haired Caucasians? Are they albinos too?

Well, no. The red hair in Caucasian people is caused by a mutation in a gene called MC1R that is involved in determining the balance of two variations of melanin in the body. They end up with more of what can be thought of as "the red kind" than "the brown kind." They are not albinos because they still make some of both kinds of melanin.

Redheads are pretty rare in both Caucasian and African populations, but why? Is there a reason certain genetic characteristics would be rare?

A rare genetic trait is often one that is hurtful in some way that gets weeded out of the population. But the redheaded people you see all around you are happy, healthy people. It doesn't seem like their hair color is hurting them. In fact, it's kind of cool!

The thing is that these days, having red hair and light skin can't really hurt you because we spend a lot less of our time outside than our ancient ancestors did, and we have modern day conveniences like sunscreen. But 100,000 years ago when the first humans were evolving, things were a lot different.

Our ancestors most likely first developed in Africa where the sunlight is really strong, so they needed the protection that comes from darker skin. Red hair and light skin would have been very unhealthy, so it was selected against. As people moved farther north, the sun's rays were less intense and they could afford to have mutations in their melanin system that gave them lighter skin and hair. That's probably how we got the Caucasian red heads we have today who so often trace their roots to Northern Europe.

Groups who stayed in Africa would have still had some people with melanin mutations who survived and passed this trait on to future generations. That's how there are modern day Africans with red hair. It just turns out that the most common mutation that stayed in the African population is different than the one that traveled north, and that's why the African redheads are different from the Caucasian redheads.

Okay so My husband and I found out were having a little boy he will be our first little one so my question is what genes will my baby have most likely for example hair and eye color in the 3D/4D ultrasound the baby has my nose and alot of his face features in the baby's profile so please give me your oppinion on it please and below is both are family genes so you decide :)

My mother - light Brown hair and Green Eyes
My Father - Dark Brown hair and Brown Eyes
Myself - Auburn Hair- Brown Eyes

His Mother- Brown Hair and Hazel Green Eyes
His Father Has: Strawberry Blonde Hair and Blue Eyes
Himself: Light Brown hair And Blue Eyes

And Both sides of the family carry traits of red hair

Answer
I'm not entirely sure how hair genes work, but I can try and figure out the eye colour:

B? + gg = Bg
Green eyes are recessive, so your mother must have two green-eyed genes. We don't know what your father's second gene is, but since you can only inherit green genes from your mother, either way, your brown gene must come from your father. Therefore, you have brown eyes, but are a carrier for green eyes.

I don't have a clue how it works when two recessive traits mate with each other, but since blue eyes are recessive, then your husband must have two blue eyed genes. Unless some recessive traits are more dominant than others... Or perhaps it goes by coloured eyes in general... I have no idea. My knowledge is limited to year 9 science, since that's the last time I learned about genes.

Bg + bb = Bb / Bb / bg / bg

Your child will have a 50% chance of having brown eyes, and a 50% chance of having either blue or green eyes I guess.

As for hair... I think dark hair is dominant, but I'm fairly sure it mixes in shade and whatnot. My best guess is that your child will have medium to dark brown hair.

Hello,happy saturday!

So i want to become a model. To me modeling is about being unique original in your own way and allows you to express your own individualality. Last week i gatherd my portfolio and picked out two shots to send to the agencies i have been looking in to.I am looking to become a print model. I have curly red hair, green eyes and freckles.Do you think because of these features i will have a better chance at succeding? Also tips for getting accepted? Thanks in advance:)

Answer
Natural red hair is always a plus, but there's more to that. Modelling is not at all about individuality. It's about really pretty girls who are perfect in every way, but who have something different about them. It costs lost of money to start off and it's really important to get a really good agency that's not trying to cheat you even though it will be more expensive. Tips for getting accepted, make sure you have a stylish hair cut and in terms of portfolio, have at least one pic of you with your hair straightened and one with your hair natural. If they don't like the curls, they will at least see you without them.

How to achieve red hair with naturally dark hair?

req

I have naturally dark brown hair with blond highlights in the front part of my hair, I'm tired of the blond now and wanted to achieve red on a level of about this http://www.beautifulhairstyles.com/redhaircolor/ or this http://www.lsalon.com/images-models/RED-HAIR-1-WEB-2.jpg. I want to dye my whole hair this color, what dye do you reccomend that isn't too damaging and should I dye my highlights back to my original color before dying my hair? Thanks.
The second link isn't working so I'll post it again, not sure if it works still http://www.lsalon.com/images-models/RED-HAIR-1-WEB-2.jpg , if not it is almost the same color as the first link but more red.
How much would getting my hair dyed at salon cost?

Answer
I'd definitely go to a salon to get it done. I've had a lot of experience with box colors and the salon is always best. They'll have to lighten your hair and then dye it but I guarantee that if you go to a good salon you'll get exactly the shade you want.

Also, I don't think you need to dye the highlights back.

Good luck! I'm sort of wishing my hair was that color now!
