Approximately 1-2% of people of the human population has naturally red hair. However, about 2-6% of Europeans have red hair, and in Ireland that number is up to 10%. In Asia and Africa, that percentage is down to less than 1%.

The AB negative blood type is the rarest blood type, not including sub groups of each type of blood. (For example A1, A2B, etc.) Only 1 in 167 people have AB-. That means of the human population, there are .7% with blood type AB-. However, very luckily, people with blood type AB negative are still able to have A-, B-, and AB- blood donated, so while it is rare it would still be relatively easy to find a blood donor in the case of an emergency. (Scientists are still trying to determine if O- is acceptable for donation, but they haven't found evidence that would say it is not)

There is an inadequate amount of information to figure how many people have red hair and AB negative blood, but it would be safe to assume it is a very, VERY small amount of people.

Also, to put it in perspective, the human population size is around 6,800,000,000 (6.8 billion) people so 1% would be 68,000,000 (68 million) people.

How can I darken my red hair without losing the natural highlights?

Q. I have red hair, but I'm out in the sun a lot and it's streaked with both blonde, and a little gray these days. I would like to darken it up a little, because the color looks a little washed out and has no depth, but I don't want that single toned look of coloring, and I don't want to cover all the highlights. Is there a good wash or technique for adding a little depth to the color? My hair has never been colored before, and is in good condition.

Your best bet is to try a color depositing shampoo. It revs up the natural tones in your hair and kicks up the hue without drastically changing the color. Your second best bet would be a color glaze, which does basically the same thing, though the color glaze is not used like a shampoo but like a conditioner.

John Frieda has both of these products for red hair.

If you actually want to dye the hair, one thing you have to remember is to make sure that the package has "semi" or "demi" permanent on the box and absolutely make sure it says "ammonia free". With natural red hair you do NOT want ammonia, it will end up orange. If you are going to dye it, pick a shade that is no more than 2 shades lighter or darker than your natural color. This is especially important since you are trying to preserve the natural highlites. You mentioned you have some gray, so keep in mind that grays are more stubborn to color than pigmented hues. They may turn out lighter than the rest of your hair.

Many other brands have color glazes and color depositing shampoos but John Frieda is a popular one. L'Oreal and Garnier are also good, and both offer "box dye".

I have dark strawberry blonde hair and I really hate it, so I dye my hair red. The red colour molecule fades most quickly because it is the shortest/weakest wavelength of colour. If you use a commercial cemical dye, the red will be too bright, will look ridiculous, and will be monochromatic with little shine after a week. It will look really fake and not beautiful, and as it fades, it will turn a rancid shade of brassy orange or even pink. Alternatively, you can use henna. Henna is extremely good for your hair. Whereas chemical dyes fade in a few weeks, Henna can last for about 3-4 months, depending on how fast your roots start showing too much. I used to use chemicals, but now I use henna. What IS henna? It's a plant that when mixed with lemon juice and left for 12 hours in a warm place (on top of fridge) activates and is ready to put on hair and skin. To use it on your hair, brush it out and section it. Put vaseline on the parts of your skin and ears closest to hairline. Pull and squeeze the Henna paste through the sections of hair, then, when all is coated, pile it on top of your head and wrap plastic wrap around your head. Leave on for 4-6 hours or overnight. The longer you leave it, the darker it will be. When you go to rinse out, rinse all the paste out and then use a bottle of conditioner to soften the rest out of the hair. Do not shampoo, it ruins the results. Shampoo two days after doing hair. The colour is very bright at first, but as the dye molecule oxidizes, it darkens the hair. i have dyed red hair (naturally brown) and i like to use the John Freida line for Radiant Reds. they have a shampoo and conditioner and also a glaze that sort of deposits color. i find that i don't have to dye my hair as often when i use these. plus, they smell fantastic!

I know the Irish are stereotyped to have red hair and German's to have blonde hair while the most Asians are stereotyped to have brown eyes. When it comes to looks, there is no such thing as a stereotypical Belgian woman for the simple reason that there is no such thing as an ethnic Belgian people. At least not anymore. The original Belgians of which the country owns its name, were wiped out a long time ago during the era of the Roman Empire.

After the Romans went into decline, Germanic tribes from the North decided to move in and occupy the area, but they would certainly not be the last. As a matter of fact, the area that is now known as Belgium was once ruled by Spain, Austria, France, The Netherlands and Germany. And the South of England at one point could also be considered part of Flanders. And they all brought their own influences and ethnic traits with them.

And one mustn't forget the Vikings who probably also left a few of their genes behind when they payed their regular visits to the lowlands. To add to the mix, there is also a historically large Jewish community in Antwerp.

But even after Belgium gained its independents, the ethnic mix up didn't stop there. Large groups from Italy, Turkey and Morocco emigrated to Belgium to work in the mines. Those who have kept their traditions high from their original homelands can still be picked out as of different origin, but the women who have decided to integrate into Belgian society are now practicably indistinguishable from the rest of the Belgian population simply because it is so diverse.

As such, even the distinction between a Flemish and a Walloon person is based on language and where one happens to live.

And that Belgium still remains an important crossroad in Europe, is proven in Brussels, the capital of the EU where 40% of its population is made up of foreigners from all over Europe and further.

So to sum things up, tall, short, Scandinavian or Southern European look, you really can't identify a Belgian woman by her looks.

Here are a few ways:
-look for clarifying or cleasing shampoos. they help get rid of the product build up and environmental agents that clog up the cuiticles. use this every 3 shampoos
-try looking for shampoos that are low in sulfur. sulfur is the agent that make the shampoo lather up. the sulfer is also the agent that causes the color to fade.

in the end....if you get your hair professionally done, ask them what brand they use to color your hair. then go out and look for that product line. For example, if a salon uses REDKEN color, then use REDKEN products. The reason is that the products are formulated to help care for that particular line's color.

I don't know where you live, but I've never been anywhere and saw "90%" of black women with dyed hair; that number is ridiculous. I assume that those few black women that do dye their hair simply like the style; but many don't dye their hair at all. If anything you should be asking why do white women love dying their hair since so many of them are bottle blonds and white punk and emo kids dye their hair every color of the rainbow. I'm sure more whites dye their hair thanks blacks. Either way, it doesn't matter it's not illegal to dye your hair, no matter what race you happen to be.

Soo, i'm Mexican and I have tan skin, but not super super tan. I have dark brown hair and brown eyes and I want to dye my hair but, I don't want to look weird with hair that doesn't look good with my skin. I don't want any color that is lighter than my natural hair color so feel free to suggest any hair color possible like blue, red, purple. I love love love red hair but I feel like I would look a little odd. Another way I want to dye my hair is dark red and turquoise strikes. Would that look good with my natural hair and dark red and turquoise strikes? If you could think of any good highlight or lowlight colors for my hair that would be very helpful. yeah i'd just stick with the red hair if i was you. i know how you feel though, i lot of times i get an urge to dye portions my hair or get highlights and stuff and on a whim i do it but it really doesn't end up looking good and once it's done i get really upset with myself for changing my hair because no matter what i think its going to turn out like it looks different. i wouldn't do it if i was you, but if you really want to try it i'd go to a drug store or something and get the hair color dye that you want and get a dye that washes out in like 2 washes or something like that, and put it in your hair on a friday and see how it looks and that way if it looks bad you can just wash it out over the weekend, but if it looks good and you really like it you can get stuff that will stay in longer or go to a hairstylist and get it done for you. Irish, Scotch,Welsh are Kelts. Few exceptions are the tiny minority of Udmurts in Russia are also very red-headed. According to the BritishDNA project, 40% of Britons are carriers of red hair gene and 46% of the Irish. To me it seems it is, but why? Can you refute this? I don't believe in that Palaeolithic connection nonsense. If it was, then the whole Europe should've been equally red-haired. Why do you think?

Well, since the ancient peoples of the British isles were never actually called 'celts' (and there is more than one celtic language) it is probably wrong to tie in to anything specifically celtic (whicxh is a term for culture and language).The term celtic was only first used there in the 1700's; neither the Romans or the people who lived in ancient Britain/Ireland ever called themselves celts. They are mainly descended from people of the preceding bronze ages through to the mesolithic, with ties to the Atlantic coast (areas where redism is generally more frequent.)
Genes have nothing to do with language (else most Americans,Canadians etc would be turning 'English') and hence the idea of a hair colour associated with language would certainly be far less plausible than dispersal in the paleolithic/mesolithic. Older genes DO tend to be found on the western side of Europe, gradually pushed there by migrations pushing in from the east in the neolithic. That there are more paleolithic/mesolithic genes there is also obvious in that most people in northern Europe are tolerant of lactose--unlike people in the Mediterranean which took a larger neolithic 'hit.'
The red gene has been found in very ancient skeletons and is thought to have been more common in pre-neolithic times.

I know the stereotype of the red hair, fair skin ,and freckles of the Irish. But, rumor has it that that is from the Scandanavian people who settled into Ireland many years ago. I watched a program that said the native Celtic tribes of Ireland had black hair and grey eyes. My father is 100% from the British Isles and he has black hair and hazel eyes, along with his siblings. Anybody know the phenotype of the Irish or any physical defining qualities?

As the last poster said,genetically we are not 'celts' (if you accept celts as mid Europeans originating in/around Hallstatt Austria in about 800 bce),though we are culturally celtic. Our closest relatives genetically are the Basques of Spain which just might give you an idea about possible Irish colouring! These people arrived here post-Ice age,about 8000 years ago, and were followed a few thousand years later by farmers from the Near East and some other tribes of the Atlantic seaboard who may have originated in Italy (and ultimately the near east as well.) These folks would probably be dark-haired-they also may be the ones who brought the celtic language.
The fair/red hair may come from Viking invasions, but may also have been in the population anyway (Basque people tend to be fairer than many average Spaniards)-for instance, people said red hair in the Scots comes from Vikings, but it was noted by the Romans long before any vikings entered Scotland!
Of the Irish/Irish descended people I know closely, 7 have blue eyes, 5 very dark brown eyes, 3 hazel green eyes. Hair colour- light brown 1,midbrown-4, dark brown-6, black-2.(some of these are my own family members and we are all dark-the black Irish as they say.)

How can you dye your hair from dark brown/black to a medium brownish red/auburn color?

Q. my hair is a dyed REALLY dark brown and last night i tried dying it an auburn color, and on the box it said it could take it from dark brown/black to that color, and it literally did nothing it looks exactly the same, so my question is, are there any boxed hair dyes you can get that will help me make this transition? have you used it?

I don't know what your natural hair colour is, but in most cases box hair dye cannot dye over other box hair dye, especially when going from dark to light colours.You'll have to bleach the dyed dark brown colour out and then dye again to get the new colour.

I've got natural, very dark brown (almost black) hair and I frequently dye my hair shades of auburn. Garnier 100% Colour in the really red shade (666 Intense Red) has worked well for me, as has Loreal Feria in the extremely red shade, and they both give me a red/brown shade under light.

My favourite box dye, though is Schwarzkopf Brilliance Luminance, which is formulated especially for dark hair. I use Red Passion L43 and sometimes Ultra-Violet L60, which gives me pretty much the same result as the Red Passion. As it fades it becomes a nice auburn colour.

Over 2, 000 years ago, the Celts celebrated a holiday they called Samhain (pronounced "Sa-wan"). Samhain was the name of the God of Death. Now you would think that a God of Death would be a nasty guy everyday. Well that may be true to the living but not necessarily to the dead. On the last day of October, (when the harvest season had ended and the days were getting shorter and colder) the God Samhain allowed the souls of the dead to visit the homes they once lived in. Now this was a scary night for the Celts. On that night they would leave their homes and gather together in a field. Once at the field they would build a huge bonfire, this fire was as big as a torcher errrr tool shed, to scare away all the evil spirits and any ghost, goblins, or any other demons that may be roaming around in the night. Well eventually the Celt religion was replaced by Christianity and somewhere along the way it lost it's name from Samhain to All Saints' Day witch was later replaced by the name Allhallowmas and finally the evening before, October 31st became known as All Hallow Eve. Over time the name has been shortened to Halloween. Witch brings me to your concern...If you are truly worried about Blasphemy I will advice you not to dress up or show any type of celebration for this Holiday & I strongly suggest you do a little research on the real meaning behind Halloween instead of settling for social acceptance of this mixed up Holiday who's real meaning has been forgotten with time.

Now, about your costume....
despite your negative feed backs that I've read along the way
to write this. I actually find it rather unique and cool.
I like the fact that it's simple as well so you wont have to go crazy spending lots of money on it, specially since the 31st is not that far from now. People would definitely be asking what your costume is depending on where you plan to go on Halloween. So I would recommend you wearing some type of devil symbol on you such as
666 or some type of fork mark on you so they can know what you are representing witch in fact would be the Devil.
I am going to be Dracula's Lady :)

Why do some black women dye their hair purple and odd red colors?

I think we look best with our natural hair color. My hair color is DARK BLACK and it really compliments my skin tone (medium brown).

Well, some black women just really love making a statement, they're loud and proud and so is their hair and nails. lol.

I for one think the main reason many people believe black women have no hair is b/ca a lot of black women are unrealistic about their choice of hair styles. Sometimes when I want to give my hair a break, I get my natural hair tree braided with extensions that look like MY hair. No one ever notices the difference. White women and Asian women wear weaves and wigs but nobody, (unless you're an experienced veteran ;D) can really tell the difference. They hit their mark but many fine black woman are missing theirs.

What is the significance of a few strands of dark red hair worn by an Indian woman.?

The older Indian women I work with all have a few strands of Dark Red hair mixed in with their jet black natural color. The red is not natural and it is only isolated single strands. What does this mean? I don't feel comfortable asking them.
The women do not have the dot on their forehead, so perhaps the few random strands is a substitute for it.

Do these women you know have the traditional red dot (tika) on their forehead? If not, the red hair strands could be a substitute or variant of the red dot.

The red hair strands may be a symbol of sacred purity and power. Historically, more of the central part of the hair would be dyed, but maybe it has been reduced to a set of strands for more subtlety or assimilation reasons.

Well I have dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. Black eyeliner (I love Mac's eyeliner "Engraved") looks awesome with white or gold eyeshadow and dark black mascara (Dior's Black Out mascara from Sephora is my favorite). It makes my eyes look bigger and i love the look!! (:

Ok so i know that the red hair gene is referred to as MC15 and is recessive in blonds, brunettes, and black-haired people. What about natural born redheads? Im a natural born redhead and i wanna try for children in the future. Since the redhead gene has to come from both sides of the family (both my grandmothers were also natural-born redheads) does that make the redhead gene dominant in natural born redheads? If not, why? Researching our genalogy is about looking at the records our ancestors generated during their lifetime, so names, dates, places we do not know what colour hair they had unless on the occassional record such as a military record it tells us, so genealogy is nothing to do with genes, that would be biology/science so you are best to ask in the biology category.............

What a gorgeous combination re: red hair and brown eyes.

Choose earth tones if you are a true redhead or have coppery or auburn red hair, and if you have dark or golden brown eyes and golden undertones to your skin. Look for coffee browns, moss and olive greens, rust oranges, dark tomato reds, golds and camels. Grays, navy's, taupes, purples and pinks could make you look lifeless though.

Choose ivory, apricot, tans, beige, medium browns, violet blues and golden yellows if you have strawberry blonde or light auburn hair, golden brown eyes, and peach or golden undertones to your skin. Marine blue and warm grays will work well for you, but not black or wine which could look sallow.
