How to remove red hair color out of hair?

My natural color is blonde but it has been lightened to a platinum blonde. I recent decided to color my hair a matrix demi permeant 5R. It is very faded now and slightly orange. I am wondering what the best option for getting my hair to the platinum blonde that I had before
I can not cut my hair

Answer
Apparently using 'ash tone' hair dye, will cancel out any red/yellow/orange tones. Maybe try that, & then wait a couple days and then go over it with a regular blonde hair dye & then purchase a shampoo that has blonde highlights, or even get purple shampoo because that apparently highlights hair, but it's very damaging and can really dry out your hair so try using it only weekly, & make sure to condition well! I will be completely honest, I have never tried this, but I currently have orange hair & I've been reading online for the past hour how to get to a bright blonde and basically this is what I have gathered to do!

How to make the gold in a brown hair colour fade?

Brandy

My natural hair colour is a medium brown with no red in it. However, for about the past year and a half, I had dyed my hair blonde. ecently, I decided to go back to brown. I used Nice N' Easy's 'Natural Light Golden Brown'. However, since my hair is usually very shiny, it appears to be a dark blonde. Is there any way I can tone down the gold in it to make it shine brown instead of dark blonde? Would a colour gloss maybe help?

Answer
use a purple shampoo....like Matrix Essentials So Silver, purple naturally takes the yellow/gold tones out of hair.

My hair is currently in a healthy state right now. I just trimmed it 2 days ago, and I do not plan to dye it until this weekend. I bought the Ion light intense red hair dye and was recommended to use a 40 volume developer at sally's beauty supply. Please explain everything that I must do to keep my hair healthy and to maintain my red hair color?
I'm actually kind of scared that the result is going to come out to be a really intense red color though ):
I have black hair btw

Answer
Use really gentle shampoos and be gentle with your hair in every way, and try to reduce hair washing. Sulfate free shampoos are the best because those help the hair color to stay in for longer and they keep hair soft and healthy looking. I use the pro naturals argan oil shampoo and conditioner, plus I use the oil itself for after a shower because my hair gets brittle easily and I dye it once in a while.

What unnatural hair color looks best with blue eyes?

Heather

What single hair color looks the best with dark blue eyes? Also, by unnatural hair color I mean blue, green, pink, orange, magenta, etc.

There should be a picture of the person whose hair is getting dyed attached to this question.

Answer
Any color looks pretty with blue eyes, but a color like magenta that contrasts with the eyes would look especially stunning. Try red, dark pink, magenta, or purple. Green looks nice too.
Here are some dyes I recommend:
http://www.amazon.com/Splat-Rebellious-Complete-Lusty-Lavender/dp/B00153Z3I0
http://www.sallybeauty.com/ion-color-brights/ION153,default,pd.html?cm_vc=SEARCH
(magenta or fuschia)
http://www.manicpanic.com/besthaircolor/fuschiashock.html
http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/Accessories/AllAccessories/Manic+Panic+Ultra+Violet+Amp+Hair+Dye-252323.jsp
All of these are available in a store, but it may not be anywhere near you so if you can, you can buy all these online. You can buy Splat at Walgreens or Walmart, along with other pharmacies and stores. Ion and Manic Panic is available at Sally Beauty. Manic Panic can be bought in other places as well, and is common online but will take a bit of searching for a physical store that sells it. Manic Panic Amplified is sold at Hot Topic.
Good luck! :)

Q. I naturally have a dark coppery red hair color, but really blonde (nearly transparent) eyebrows and eyelashes. I wear brown mascara, and recently ive been coloring my eyebrows a bit with a blond-ish colored eye pencil. Now I'm considering just getting my eyebrows tinted, because my eyebrows are still really light, and when I sweat (I'm an athlete) my eyebrows turn a little green and become un-natural looking because of the eye pencil. I just want my eyebrows to be visible and natural looking. Any advice on what color to get them tinted?

What would the effect of taking melanin supplements have on my red hair?

Joseph P

First off, I have no interest in changing my natural red hair color. I have a shade many people dye their hair to get. Anyway, I learned that red hair is caused a a lack of melanin. I was simply wondering if melanin supplements would change it at all or just darken it?

Answer
PABA
PABA or para-aminobenzoic acid is a chemical component of pteroylglutamic acid, also known as folic acid. PABA is often used topically to provide protection to the skin from the sun. Expert opinions differ on whether the chemical should be considered a vitamin on its own or if it is just a component of the B-complex family of vitamins. Some herbalists suggest taking PABA supplements to help reverse the redness of the hair process. This recommendation seems to be based on a very small and dated study published in the December 1950 issue of the Journal of Investigative Dermatology in which a researcher noted a change in hair color in approximately 25 percent of the 20 patients he treated with PABA for other conditions. It is important to consult with your doctor before taking PABA supplementation, because PABA is stored by the body and can build to toxic levels if taken in excessive quantities.

Difference between the salon highlighting and dying process?

Miki Ella

I tried dying my black hair red today only to be left unsatisfied with the result since nothing really changed. I only get a barely noticeable light brown tint in my hair when in the light. I only found out that bleaching prior to dying is necessary when wanting to achieve a lighter color. The thing is, I've had wonderful light brown highlights done on my jet-black hair before (done at the salon). How is this possible? What exactly is the difference between the highlighting and dying process? Should I just go to a professional hair salon and get my hair dyed red there, and would it really only be possible by bleaching?

Answer
Highlighting is bleaching. With highlights they just take some strands/pieces of hair and bleach that. They don't dye it. Dyeing hair is depositing a color. Highlighting/ bleaching is lifting a color. With bleach they are removing the color in your hair. So to get a lighter hair color you need to remove the color your hair is, and then add the color you want. It's the only way. Color does not lift color. Bleach will lift the color- take the color away. Then dyeing will deposit the color you want.

So if your hair is Jet black that means you have a level 1 color it's the darkest color.
A level 10 is the lightest. So you want to get your hair to a level 7- 10 then deposit the red dye and it will work.

Red on black hair won't work because your hair is too dark. Red is lighter then Black. So It won't work.

Imagine coloring with black crayon on a piece of paper. Now Imagine putting/coloring over it with white? Does it turn white? No.

Now Imagine coloring with a while crayon. Now Imagine coloring/putting black over it. Does it turn black? It would because it's darker then the white right?

As to going to the salon to get it done, you could do that but they won't do it all in one day.
They'll start the bleaching process the day you go in. when they get it light enough for them, they'll tell you to come back in a month. You're hair will be and orange color, since your hair has to lift to several different shades in order to get to blonde where you need to be to deposit the red.

You can also do this your self but it will be very damaging to your hair. And you need yo be careful that you do it correctly or you hair will come out- ( the reason the salons only do it in different days )

You can go to sallys or online and order:

Powdered bleach- Quick blue, Wella Bleach, Clariol,....ect there are different types.
Developer/peroxide- Wella developer, Clariol developer, Ion Sensitive, L'oreal , Salon care, etc... there are different types.
When choosing a developer you're going to see that it has a number on it.
There's : 10 volume. 20, volume, 30 volume, and 40 volume.

10 only deposits color so don't get 10.

you want to get a 20 or a 30 preferably a 30 since you say jet black hair. 40 is to strong so I don't recommend that.

Next you can get a toner if you like. That just tones your hair so that it takes off all the brassiness off. But since you want red you don't really need it, since you'll be depositing a color.

You'll need : Gloves, dye brush, and a non - metallic bowl.

Follow the instructions on how much of the developer and bleach you use and then mix. When it's ready apply it to your hair starting at the bottom then go back and do the roots. The roots is the fast place that lifts, so start with the bottom and work up. Also don't put the bleach mix directly on your scalp. Don't rub in the mix either. Quick blue has the bleach for on/off scalp so you can use that if you like.
leave it in for about 45 mins I would say but follow the direction on your bleach and developer. Your hair will be orange, or red.
Wash it and condition, condition, condition!
You can do the same thing again the same day but I recommend waiting at least a week before you do it again, Give your hair time to rest.

When your hair is blonde/ yellow then you can deposit the red of your choice.

after that though make sure you deep condition. Use a deep conditioner or regular conditioner. Leave it in your hair over night if you're using regular conditioner. I you're using a deep conditioner leave it for a couple of minutes then wash. This will make your hair healthier after all the damage.
Limit using heat on your hair, as well.

Also don't brush when it's wet let it dry first the brush. Brushing your hair wet will also damage your hair.

I'm looking for a hair salon in Maryland or DC that is good at cutting and styling bi-racial hair?

Leigh

I have been to a few Dominican hair salons in Silver Spring, which they do a great job straightening my hair. However, they do not know how to cut hair in a style very well. They can just trim. Every time, I want a certain style, it always looks the same. Are there any recommendations of a salon/stylist that can cut really good as well as style?
Thanks in advance!

Answer
There is a good reason why I stopped going to the salon since 2003. They can't even cut 4" all even around. They go to school to learn all that, but now dh and I do it. Takes us 10 mins. It took them over 1 1/2hr. from beginning to finish and I have to go back 2-3x more just to get them right.

Not just there, HERE TOO!

The only way to get what you really want is to keep shopping until you find one who really knows what they're doing.

If you have bi-racial hair, I do not recommend you getting hair straightening. There are many brands of hair straightening out there and they call them anyway they want to get your attention. Coco is another name brand. Some Japanese hair straightening processes can damage the hair and leave it flat and lifeless.
None is better than the other.

A hairstylist in Portland, Or. is blowing a whistle on the treatment.

Relaxers are for permanent, but they are damaging to hair.

The official complaints against hair straightening products range from serious hair breakage and hair damage to serious scalp burns that may require an emergency room visit.
Example of what one suffering severe hair loss after Japanese Hair Straightening from YA HAIR:
I got my hair rebonded back in March and have lost more than a third of it since then. Everytime I run my hands through my hair, I lose 7-10 strands on average!
In the shower I lose clumps after shampooing and conditioning.
Bald spots are showing up in my hair.
I used to have beautiful thick hair, ho can I get it back?

Another ex: I used to have very curly, beautiful hair..and then i got it chemically straightened..DONT DO IT! when it started growing out, it was mess and even more difficult to work with than before. and once it was completely grown out, my hair was no longer curly..it is now this aweful wavy mess, and only certain spots are still curly.

Another example: I don't recommend it. Hair went back to normal even before 4 months (it stated that the Keratin would stay on for 4months). Soft rebonding would be the better choice. I think the KeraStraight was a scam. Even the KeraStraight shampoo/conditioner did no contribution. It was a complete waste of money :/ However it was straight for awhile. But not very long.

Should I get red streaks or red tips?

I have dark brown hair and I'm going to use a red 'Splat' hair color box. I don't know if I should get red streaks or tips. And will it work out well considering my dark hair?

Answer
red tips. ONE red streak would look good (on the underneith of your hair -
http://images.sugarscape.com/userfiles/image/NOVEMBER/Natalie/stephpratt2.jpg )

but if your doing multiple streaks throughout your entire head like this
http://images1.43places.com/entry/378283pw150.jpg then i would not. having an unatural color like that (red, pink, blue, green) streaked throughout your hair doesn't look good in my opinion, but i'm all for the tips!
or you could try dying all the underneith portion of your hair the red color.

How will my hair colour turn out?

I am about to dye my hair, the colour im dying it is a dirty blonde. The box says if you have red hair the colour will turn out a red blonde. I have bits of red in my hair, I'm also using 2 boxes. Will it still turn out red or can the dye by any chance over power the bits of red?

Answer
I just did this and it went horribly. I went to a hair dresser. And the only thing she did was mix in a toner with a blonde hair dye not bleach. And you really really want to get an ash blonde not one with red in it unless you want brassy or coppery colour.
Also she recommended that I get a purple shampoo. I am pretty sure this is just shampoo for blondes with a little bit of toner in it. It is actually purple in colour.

Where to buy good quality red hair dye?

red hair color shampoo

red hair color shampoo image

Neira

Hi everyone,

I would like to know where to buy good quality red hair color. At the moment, my hair is longer then shoulder-length. The color is medium ash brown with 2-3 inches light tips (colored with L'Oreal's Medium Ombre). The only reason I colored it like that is because I am 31 and I feel like I shouldn't do crazy hairdos or colors anymore, but all this time I am feeling like something is missing. So, I decided to put red over it, so that my brown hair is actually auburn and my tips are screaming crazy red, with a few highlights here and there.
I have problems finding a good red hair color. I've just ordered a jar of Manic Panic's RED PASSION, but that color is semi-permanent and I want something that's going to last at least 5-6 weeks.
Does anyone have an advice on where to find similar hair color that is permanent? Or do you think that if I mix some regular (store-bought, for example: L'Oreal's Feria or similar) red color, it would last longer?

Thank you!

Answer
are you looking for permanent or semi/demi permanent? If you're looking for permanent, Garnier, L'oreal and Clairol all make pretty good at home box dyes. I've provided a Garnier colour swatch below.
if you want a semi-permanent dye, or if you want to buy one and mix a little bit in with your conditioner (which is a good way to keep it from fading as fast), then Punky Colour makes a very pigmented red called 'Red Wine'.
For the best upkeep for red hair, I would use a colour safe shampoo. Seeing as shampoo strips the hair, you'll need something with no sulfates or Sodium Lareth Sulfate. A good shampoo for red-heads, ironically enough, is Redken. They make a shampoo called colour-extend (which I have), and it is very good quality. Avoid drugstore shampoos, because these contain a lot of silicone which means you'll have to use a strong cleansing shampoo to get rid of the build-up more often, which isn't good for red or any colour-treated hair.
You can purchase permanent hairdye at Walmart, Costco, CVS, Kroger, Ultah, Sally's, etc.
You can purchase Punky Colour @ Hot Topic, Sally's, etc. or online at Folica.com.

Hope this helps!

How long should i leave red hair dye in?

Vagitarian

Oh, also, besides using red glosser and red color protectant shampoo, is there anything else i can do to keep the color vibrant?
I'm going to bleach my hair for about an hour, to get all the black out, then i'm going to put in Ion medium red blonde. I have read that it's best to leave in red for several hours, if not half of a day, to soak up all of the color for long lasting.
What would you suggest?

Answer
I work at Sally Beauty supply and I use the Light intense red on my hair...dont EVER leave hair color on for more then 45 mins...your hair prosity will be horrible after and will never be able to be the same again even after deep cond. it. I do use red glosser and shampoos that are color protecant but that also have minor fillers lk pantene they have those for red to burgunady shampoos ect. those r awesome...also depedning on how many times u wash ur hair ever other time wash ur hair in cold water. This helps close ur hair folicule so no color will wash out..other then that theres nothin u can really do but all those things..hope this helps :)

I live in Georgia and there are a lot of salons around here. I want something that is way different but jazzy.

Answer
We have a salon called Color me Red, it is really cool, they have a lot of red and zebra prints in there, it is quite hip. My friend was thinking of opening a salon and calling it Color, Cut, and Strut, but she ended up doing something else, I always thought that it was a fun name.

Which color should I go for?

randomwoma

I'm getting my hair cut, dyed and highlighted Saturday. I've got very pale white skin and have naturally light-brown hair. I'm thinking I either could get a very deep auburn with highlights or go darker (since I like looking pale), like a really dark brown close to black, with very subtle highlights. Any suggestions? I've realized over the years that usually, what I want isn't what would look good on me AT ALL.
**Edit**: I can't do whatever I want with my hair...I have an office job and there's a dress code. Also, I'm going for natural looking hair, so two-tone stuff. Thanks.

Answer
As a girl who worked at a hair salon for years I hope my advice helps...I like the idea of deep auburn, but please no highlights. If it's a lighter red you want do something like Julianne Moore's hair color ( pale skin and red hair-Gorgeous!) I like the dark brown w/ very subtle highlights (none of that obvious zebra-stripe crap), but please no black-it's a harsh color and hard to wear. Hair stylists LOVE when you bring pictures of what you want and it should help you get the color/hair cut you want. Good luck and kudos on having the balls to make a change.

I have browmish-blackish hair with blonde highlights. I am wondering if I lighten my hair to a light brownish color or even Blonde will it give me a brighter alburn/red hair color? If yes, what bleaching product should I use and from where? Also how much? My hair is an inch or so past my shoulders. I have very thick hair. Thanks!

Answer
I think it will be brighter. I've dyed my hair red before and bleaching it first really worked out well. I personally didn't want to bleach my hair so it would be blonde. I did it so it would take the color better than my black hair. If you go to WalMart or Drug Mart there's normally a bleach/dye kit called Clairol Born Blonde and get the one with the lady with the short hair. Remember this is used to lighten your hair and you might need two boxes.

I want a brownish red hair color (more red though), like a maroon or a burgundy. Does anyone have a website with a variation of red hair shades?

Answer
I just dyed my hair that color today! It's pretty fantastic. It's a cooler purply-red indoors, but when the sun hits it it's BRIGHT red. I love it.

I got it salon-dyed, so I don't know what dye they used, but here are some swatches from Manic Panic if you want to dye it yourself:

Answer
I really like Loreal Paris Feria. You get shimmery color, and they have a wide range of colors!

I would recommend..
41 Crushed Garnet

Other brands could include;
Nice 'n Easy Perfect 10
4R Dark Auburn
Cinnamon Red Hot

Both have a red tint without being completely red. These are both permanent colors.

Good luck!

Do I need to use a developer for my hair?

Dont Worry

I'm dying my (naturally red) hair with blonde highlights Clairol's Beautiful 4R Mahogany Red Brown color -- (semi-permanent)
I was told by the girl at Sally's that my hair was light enough to take the dye (it's basically strawberry blonde) so I'm unsure if I need any type of developer? Would I be okay without it?

Answer
Yes, you need developer to color your hair. The developer provides the chemical reaction that allows the haircolor molecules to penetrate and be deposited into the shaft of the hair by causing the chemical color to "develop". Depending on the strength of the peroxide of the developer, the developer also may lighten the base color of the hair in order to create a lighter shade of color.

This means if you want to make your hair color darker, you will only need a 10 developer just to apply the color. You can lighten your hair up to 4 shades lighter without using bleach. The developer will lighten your hair to help achieve the level of color you desire. However, if you want a much lighter color, you will need to bleach your hair.

Where is the best place to get hair extensions?

Samantha.

Prom is four months away, and for the hair style I want to wear I will need some extensions. I just recently dyed my hair a intense red/auburn color and I intend to keep it this color for prom. I need to know a really good place that sells extensions with very high quality and a relatively decent price.

Answer
Sallybeauty.com, Saffrons, Hairextensions.com and ofcourse Amazon and Ebay.

First decide on what you want to buy, like length, texture(curly or wavy or straight), type of hair (remy vs non-remy hair) and also have a budget in your mind.

Why does my daughter have red hair when I have blonde and my husband has brown?

red hair recessive or dominant
on Sources: Genetics for Dummies, the New Merrium-Webster Dictionary ...
red hair recessive or dominant image

Brielle

My husbands grandfather had red hair but I though that red hair was a dominant gene so one of the parents had to pass it or both of us had to pass one recessive?? I dont have any red hair on my side of the family. And her hair is VERY red lol!

Answer
This was actually discovered using pea plants by a scientist named Mendell (i can not recall his first name) during the 19th century. He was a priest and devoted his free time (practically his life) to unlock the secrets of heredity. Long story short, he discovered that there are actually gene pairs that consist of a dominant chromosome and an inferior chromosome, in any order. The only way in which the inferior gene can take over is by being paired with it's self, otherwise the dominant gene will portray itself. An example is the 23rd chromosomes, the X for female (inferior by definition) and the Y for male (dominant gene). If the pair contains a Y, like XY, the child is a boy. If XX, it is a girl. There is no 50-50, it is either the dominant is present and portrays itself, or it is only the inferior genes and they portray themselves.

Red Hair is an inferior gene, so both of you have to have been carriers (the technical name) of the gene, while your dominant color genes, blonde and brown, had decided yours. You had a 1 in 4 chance of having a red head, and sure enough that 25% won. She received the two inferior genes from you only.

I could go more in depth, but then everything gets a bit in depth with conception and fertilization and genetics, and I'm sure you barely read all of that! :)

hope that helps you understand

Is it true that red heads will dye out in the next hundreds of years?

"The Man o

I understand that red hair is a recessive trait but I find it quite interesting that there won't be any red heads left in years from now. Brunettes and Blondes are more of the dominant trait and it's more common. I'm just curious will like all red hair genders date people with the opposite hair color?

I think yes. I like girls with red hair, but I'm not sure if this is true. I've heard people talk about it before.

Answer
Hi my friend not sure if that is true. One of my best friends is a red head and one of her daughters is a auburn red. If It does disapper there is always Hair coloring to bring it back Ha ha ha.

Is it impossible to dye natural red hair any other color?

Okay, so I have natural red hair and I've been hearing from my mom that it's impossible to dye natural red hair any other color. (this coming from my blonde mother.)
So I was wondering if she was bull-sh*ting me. :/
So...Is impossible, or not?

Answer
I also have natural red hair (I love it), but it is not impossible to dye it. Bleach it first, and then continue your regular dying process. Depending on how dark red your hair is, it may not come out exactly the shade you want it to, but don't make the mistake of over bleaching it to get it lighter, because you will ruin your hair! Because you have to bleach your hair out first it is harder to remove the color from red hair and get natural color back, but its not impossible to dye it. Your mom may have gotten the difficulty of dying and removing dye mixed up, which seems to be a common mistake, so don't get mad at her. =] Red hair is unique and beautiful, and its hard to quickly get your natural color back, so if you want to dye it a different color, be absolutely SURE that that is what you want! Good luck!

How can I get my natural hair colour back after dying it numerous times?

Q. I dyed my hair purple, than bleached it and dyed it bright red. Than I dyed it dark brown on top of that, bleached it and dyed it red again. My natural hair colour is dirty blonde, how can I get that back? :/

How Do You Get Red Lipstick Out Of the Couch?

bingoq5321

Ok so my 2 year old got red lipstick all over the couch anyone have any tip to get it out?

Answer
Hi

What you need to do with this stain is use a solvent type spotter. Since you don't have the professional stuff try using orange glo, 409. You can also try acetate. If you are using acetate put it on a towel first and blot with towel.
First you will need to do is a test.
To do the test spray the cleaner, using the back edge of the cushion, spray a spot about the size of a quarter and wipe it with a white towel and let it dry on itâs own.

If you get colour transfer onto the towel it is not safe to clean.
If there is no change in colour and no watermark then it is safe to clean.
If there is a watermark but no colour change it is safe to clean, only thing is you will need to clean the whole thing.( to stop watermarks)

If you decide to clean it DO NOT do a lot of scrubbing on the fabric because you can damage the hair that is on the fabric.

How do you guys feel about red lipstick?

Ryanne

I like how this one shade of red lipstick looks on me, but it takes... um, "balls" to wear it. I mostly just would like some yay or nay opinions on the matter, because I've lost all sense of objectivity on the matter.

Answer
well it really depends on what your hair color is and what you're wearing with it. red lipstick also looks good on me but unfortunately its more of a 60's thing so yeah. but don't let that get you down! if it looks good, then wear it! who cares what other people think. i swear the definition of style changes every day. :)

How to dress like, do my makeup like and hair like....?

jwoww red hair color

Snooki

Jwoww

Cher Lloyd

Lea Michele

Answer
Snooki is heavy black eye makeup and lipgloss with short tight dresses and skirts and heels all the time same as Jwoww only Snooki has the big hair stuff going on.
Cher Lloyd really mixes up her style from more rocker to sweeter. She wears puffy skirts or high waisted shorts and sometimes maxy skirts with tight crop tops. She normally has curly hair with lots of volume and on x factor she had her makeup done with 3 pairs of fake eyelashes so lots of black eye as well and her eyebrows are painted in, her lips are normally just a subtle lipstick color.
Lea Michele if shes playing Rachel dresses similar to Taylor Swift with oldschool dresses which are normally fitted until the waist and then flowy on the bottom until the knee and she wears red lipstick quite often but subtle eye makeup.

Hope it helped!

What tanning product should I use?

Im clueless in everything.Im Mexican ,but I'm really white with brown hair and green eyes.I never thought of getting a tan, until now.The reason I want to get a tan is, because I turn red for everything, and it's ruining my life.Is going to the beach a good way to get a tan ?Or will I just turn red.Or, are there any tanning products that you just put on and your tann?I know I'm real stupid.

Answer
I'm greek (olive skin tone usually) but I was super pale with blue eyes! I only just started tanning two weeks ago at an indoor salon because I was sick of being so pale! Everytime I would get sun exposure I would just burn. I suggest going to an indoor tanning salon in a stand up booth! I purchased Jwoww Black Bronzer tanning lotion and OMG I had a noticeable color after just 1 session! I am now 5 indoor tanning sessions in and I am at my desired color so now I only have to go once a week to maintain it! I definitely suggest it! I started off in a stand up booth at 7 minutes. I did 7 minutes for 3 sessions, and bumped it up to 9 minutes for 2 sessions. Perfect! If you go this way, make sure you get a bronzer lotion and get an after tan lotion as well such as Forever After by Australian Gold because its a tan extender and a terrific moisturizer!

Samantha

I was thinking of doing a medium auburn red on top and a blonde underneath. Problem is i can't seem to find many pics of dark on top-light underneath. Can anyone help me? Does anyone have any suggestions besides it would look weird, or no one does it like that?

Answer
It wouldn't look weird, it's not really "out of the norm" either.Google Hayley Williams. She once had a ginger/red on top and blonde underneath, now every fan of hers does/wants it.

I just bought ion colour brilliance in purple and I was planning on dying my hair tomorrow. My hair is currently a dark red colour. The instructions inside the box said for the best results use it on level 7 hair and I believe my hair is at a level 4 or 5. How do you think it will turn out? Will people be able to tell its purple or will it just look very dark with a tint of purple?

Answer
it will probably still be dark with a purple tint to it. i use to dye my hair from blonde to brown and one time i did my hair kinda dark red and my hair was dark brown when i did this well for like a week my hair looked like a redish purple and then it faded to the red it was suppose to be! i would say go have the old hair color bleached and then dye your hair. but good luck

What did the Irish and the Celts really look like?

Gavin J

I know the stereotype of the red hair, fair skin ,and freckles of the Irish. But, rumor has it that that is from the Scandanavian people who settled into Ireland many years ago. I watched a program that said the native Celtic tribes of Ireland had black hair and grey eyes. My father is 100% from the British Isles and he has black hair and hazel eyes, along with his siblings. Anybody know the phenotype of the Irish or any physical defining qualities?

Answer
As the last poster said, genetically we are not 'celts' (if you accept celts as mid Europeans originating in/around Hallstatt Austria in about 800 bce),though we are culturally celtic. Our closest relatives genetically are the Basques of Spain which just might give you an idea about possible Irish colouring! These people arrived here post-Ice age, about 8000 years ago, and were followed a few thousand years later by farmers from the Near East and some other tribes of the Atlantic seaboard who may have originated in Italy (and ultimately the near east as well.) These folks would probably be dark-haired-they also may be the ones who brought the celtic language.
The fair/red hair may come from Viking invasions, but may also have been in the population anyway (Basque people tend to be fairer than many average Spaniards)-for instance, people said red hair in the Scots comes from Vikings, but it was noted by the Romans long before any vikings entered Scotland!
Of the Irish/Irish descended people I know closely, 7 have blue eyes, 5 very dark brown eyes, 3 hazel green eyes. Hair colour- light brown 1,midbrown-4, dark brown-6, black-2.(some of these are my own family members and we are all dark-the black Irish as they say.)

Can you use jazzing hair color when you already have highlights? If so, will it effect the highlight color?

I just recently had red highlights put in my hair, my hair is pretty dark so it didn't show up as bright as I would have like them to. I thinking about getting a hair rinse in my hair to add to the effect of the highlights. Will it alter the highlight color or will it stay the same??????????? What will happen exactly after the rinse is put in?

Answer
The jazzing will coat on top of the hair color. the highlighted hair will be slighlty different -depending on the color you choose. I had dyed hair w/ streaks and I put jazzing on top to hide a few grays and to tone down the color. Do a patch or strand test!! It will rinse out in a few weeks anyway...

These are the red colors:
Ruby Red, Cherry Cola, Red Hot and Spiced Cognac--pick the one you think that will have the greatest change.

Help with hair coloring disaster. How to get rid of red roots?

Elizabeth

My hair was colored neutral light brown with a formula for mostly grey hair. I tried to jazz it up with a very light copper color. Roots turned orange. Tried to fix with medium auburn, to blend colors. Now roots are burgandy. I look like a holiday ornament. I prefer to try to repair myself. I know I should go to a salon, I'm not able to now. I've been coloring my hair for for 32 years. This has never happened before. Help!!!!!

Answer
Do you want to go brown again.
I would suggest Nice & Easy.
Put on roots first for about 15 minutes then pull threw.
With roots copper try a med. brown for now.
Hope this helps.
