Answer
I'm not a scientist or a biology major, I have no clue either.

About WRONG DEVELOPER: From Ya member who was so depressed: "sallies beauty salon isnt really a salon is more of a hair suppply store and the beautitionist who looked and tested my hair said it would work just fine and now im left with bald spots and im only 15 will a little less than half my hair missing and white roots and bright orange red and spotted black hair that is melted up to around 2 inches from my scalp idk what to do" Another example: "Ok i know i shouldnt have but i bleached my hair last week and it came out ok it was just different shades of blonde and i wanted it o e color so i went to my beauty store and bought dye well i had a reaction to it my hair is fried and falling out help me please.... can i cut it and it will stop falling out or what do i need to do besides not EVER dye my hair again"
SALON: Hair bleach burnt my scalp?
its been a week today that i had my mobile hair dresser come and do highlights for new year. it was blue powder and white cream stuff she mixed up to use. anyway she got it on my scalp which really burnt me! the foil was so hot she could barely touch it! she didn't rinse my hair off until she had finish the last two highlights and by that point the pain was so bad i was almost crying! she didn't even wash the bleach out of my hair properly and when blow drying it it just burnt me even more! that same day about an hour after she left it was still burning and noticed scabs forming and my hair sticking together. i did go to the doctors the other day to get it checked as the pain is still very bad and its also swollen. all they gave me is this shampoo called oilatum that i can only use twice a week. dose anyone know of what else i could possibly do or use to stop this incredibly bad pain and burning that keeps me up a night too. as the doctors have said its not infected.

HAIR DYE KITS were formulated for people to dye their hair @ home!

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.

what hair colour of white people are the strongest?

big james

just wondering cause when im called a ginger in school i wonder are they doin the wrong thing

Answer
hello fellow red head....

You cant determine a persons strength by their hair colour ...

Genetically red hair is different. It is characterized by high levels of the reddish pigment pheomelanin and relatively low levels of the dark pigment eumelanin.Red hair appears in people with two copies of a recessive gene on chromosome 4 which causes a change in the MC1R protein, hence red hair.

However I did find this extract on my own reseach and we are more sensitive to pain

Sensitivity to pain
In people with red hair, the cells that produce skin and hair pigment have a mutated MC1R. Researchers have found that this mutation triggers the release of more of the hormone that stimulates these cells, but this hormone also stimulates a brain receptor related to pain sensitivity.[32]

Two studies have demonstrated that people with red hair have differential sensitivity to pain compared to people with other hair colours, but they differ as to the direction of the effect. One study found that people with red hair are more sensitive to thermal pain (a natural low vitamin K level is to blame for this) while another study concluded that redheads are less sensitive to pain from electrical stimuli.

Researchers have found that people with red hair require greater amounts of anesthetic, A study showed women with red hair had a greater analgesic response to that particular pain medication than Men

Is Raw hair dye vegan?

WhatSarahS

I used to use raw hair dye and I loved it. I have had red and purple hair. Half a year ago, I bleached my hair too much, and parts of it had a lot of breakage and fell out. I want to start dying my hair again but I only want to use vegan dyes. Is raw vegan?

Answer
"Half a year ago, I bleached my hair too much, and parts of it had a lot of breakage and fell out"
No.

There really isn't any "natural" hair color other than henna that I know of. Henna plant was used by the ancient Egyptians. Crushing berries to produce the variations of color is simplified since then but the henna product is still a pain. It must be mixed up a day ahead and the processing time can be up to 4 hours.

http://www.aikenstandard.com/story/0930-beauty-corner

Henna, for example, is a natural hair color that is incredibly drying to the hair shaft, Begoun says. And cosmetics scientists at TheBeautyBrains.com say that henna will only temporarily tint your hair. Although most so-called natural hair-color products use fewer chemicals than most drugstore hair colors, experts say that any change to natural hair color causes hair damage. Experts suggest using the gentlest formula that will yield your desired color and using it as infrequently as possible.
Herbatint & Naturetint are two permanent hair colors that use a smaller amount of hair dye chemicals in conjunction with natural ingredients. Both have fairly decent ratings at MakeupAlley.com (though each gets only a handful of reviews).

Here's a new article I found re: henna, which is supposed to be better for you than reg. box dye. It's a good read!
Google: Henna for Hair Warnings.

If youâre using Henna which says itâs going to turn your hair from black to blonde, then it seems like your using compound Henna, which is not 100% natural. Without getting too scientific, compound henna is when you mix the Lawson in with a chemical like, metallic salts. The most commonly used ones are Copper, Lead acetate and Nickel. This can arguably damage your hair, leaving it dry, brittle and coarse.

How do you prevent red bumps when shaving pubic area?

Question A

I am a 17 year old male who shaves my pubic area for hygiene and cleanliness. Everything is good for a day or two after i shave but i then develop red bumps until the hair grows back completely. I try using lotions and baby powder to keep the area moist but it's not effective in removing the red bumps. Please help! Thanks!

Answer
I feel your pain, man. I recommend the following:

Trim your Pubic Hair
To make this process easier, trim the genital area before applying the razor! You'll save blades this way. Electric razors, clippers (with safety guards) or scissors work well. To get a closer cut and avoid unwanted nicks, pull the hair up then trim away.

Soaking
Take a long, warm bath beforehand. This softens coarse pubic hair and makes it easier to shave and style.

Lathering
Apply shaving cream or gel to lather the pubic area. A thin layer of petroleum jelly will help with a closer shave. Soap doesn't make the best lather for pubic shaving. Note that some people may have allergic reactions to certain shaving cream.

Shaving
There are many different ways to style your pubic hair. Think about it before you start and be as creative as you desire. It is recommended to shave the same way the hair grows. Avoid constantly stroking the same area during the shave because this may irritate the skin. Aim for two to three short strokes. Do stretch the skin to reach the difficult hairy spots.

Attention First-Timers! The pubic area is sensitive and may take time to adjust to the razor. Shaving once a week is enough for your first month. Don't worry about a smooth shave the first month.

Exfoliating (Removing dead skin)
It's important to clean your skin after shaving. The best way is with a "loofa sponge" and your normal body soap. Due to sensitivity of this area, rub lightly with the sponge to prevent skin irritation. This will help remove anything that may clog the pores.

Moisturizing
Rinse, dry and moisturize the freshly shaven pubic area. Baby oil and Aloe Vera work well. It's best to avoid moisturizers that contain fragrances and colors, since this may cause irritation. You may also want to use baby powder for comfort.

Hygienic Maintenance
Wash your shaven genitals on a daily basis. This helps remove unwanted oils and sweat. Moisturize and powder the area daily to avoid irritation. If you keep the hair short, you'll avoid stubbles, which causes itching. Try to wear cotton underwear and to stay away from tight fitting cloths pants. The lack of air circulation and friction of tight cloths may lead to in-grown hairs.

A Few Warnings

For some people, pubic hair is always easy and fun. However, for many other people it presents problems. When the genital hair begins to grow back, itching often occurs. Red bumps and ingrown hair may appear. To relieve the irritation, you can apply cortisone cream. If these symptoms cause you stress or don't go away, see a doctor.
People who are allergic and react to some shaving creams. This area seems to have heightened sensitivity. Furthermore, if it does react, your natural sweat and the natural abrasion this area receives will most likely make your life miserable (temporarily). Use hypoallergenic shaving creams or consider avoiding shaving all together.
Some women have noted genital sensitivity during menstruation. If shaving becomes uncomfortable for women during their periods, they should time pubic shaving around their menstruation cycle.
If shaving does irritate your skin, waxing may not cause as much irritation or in-grown hairs.

Where can I find hair dye the same colour as Ariana Grande in New Zealand?

Tayla Jayn

I have been wanting to dye my hair red for a long time and then I watched Victorious and fell in love with Cat Valentine (Ariana Grande)'s hair. I have been looking around but I can't seem to find a colour similar to her hair anywhere!
I live in New Zealand, so I would appreciate product and colour names that they sell in NZ e.g. Brilliance, L'Oreal..
Please help asap!!
Thanks (:

Answer
What color is your hair now? If it's dark I know what will give you exactly what you want. If you look her up on YouTube she says she is going to dye it magenta for the show. Loreal HiColor highlights in magenta made for dark hair it requires no lightening first and it will give you the exact color you want you just have to watch it and it takes about 30 min. If your hair is light and you use it it will be horrific but I think there is one for light hair too. Just make sure it is magenta. I used this color on my hair and it was perfect. Hope I helped you out. You'll need 40vol. Developer's also...

Oh and if you can't find what I suggested where you live there are similar products in New Zealand you just have to go to a beauty Supply Store not a drug store.

Changing my hair color (pic)?

Jess

Summer's coming up in New Zealand which is where I live and I want to dye my hair for a change. I've dyed my hair before but not very dramatically so no one seems to notice. Have any suggestions on what color I could dye it?
Here's my hair colour now:
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee145/xjessiemariex/Meandcat.jpg

Also, what shade of brown would you consider my hair to be?

Answer
The only color I would suggest dying your hair would be red. Not a huge change but maybe a red/brown color to accent your GORGEOUS green eyes. I would say as of right now, your hair is a very medium brown, not quite mousy, but verging on it. It looks very good on you, though.

Good luck with your hair dying adventures.

Valentines dance hair and makeup tips?
i have medium length blonde hair with a slight angle in the front when parted down the middle. my eyes are blue. what can i do to stand out in a crowded dance floor? pictures and youtube videos would be helpful. thanks

Answer
curl your hair, put it in a cute up-do. Black liner, dark blue eyeshadow (I have blue eyes, and whenever I use a darker blue shadow it totally brings out my eyes) and is it a formal dance? If so wear a cute dress :) but if you wear a red dress (bcuz of V-Day) and the blue shadow it might clash. Try the look before the day of dance to make sure it doesnt.

Do you do at home coloring for red hair?

Dunthat

what kind is best and won't fade and also what kind of other products do you use on your hair?
I am looking for something that works, but won't cost me a lot.
I work nights so I don't go in the sun lol.I also have naturally curly hair though so I have to use gel and hair spray for that and I use cheap stuff. Will that make the color fade?

Answer
Red is an odd colour when it comes to dying hair. It's the quickest to fade, but the hardest to get out. It doesn't matter what dye you use, the red WILL fade within 2 weeks, tops. I dyed my hair red once using Loreal Feria. The results at the beginning were brilliant, I loved it, but after a few weeks it began to fade to an orangy colour. I experimented with different red dyes with a friend, but we couldn't find anything which would hold. The only advise I could give to you if you were to dye your hair red is to wash it in cool water and buy a good colour protecting shampoo and conditioner. But don't do it if you're not prepared to maintain the colour every 3-5 weeks. And when you get bored of the red, its such a terrible colour to get out and it would involve bleach. You also said your hair is curly... Dye would very easily damage your hair, because curly hair isn't very strong. And yes, the gel and spray will make it fade. Hope this helps (:

How to get desired red hair color when dyeing at home?

I recently dyed my hair with Ion Color Brilliance - Medium Red Brown (4R). This is my first time coloring my hair in at least 5 years so I was starting with a totally clean slate. I'm 24 and my natural hair color is medium brown with reddish blonde highlights (more or less depending on sun exposure). My hair is healthy, semi-thick, and about 3 inches below my shoulders with long layers. I remember when I dyed my hair as a teenager it would pull red but mainly like burgundy....purpleish red. The current look I'm moving toward is more of an orange-red like Isla Fisher (when she has a darker auburn-red color, not too bright). I'm assuming I need to mix two different colors of dye to achieve this but not sure??? I don't want to end up looking like bozo lol Also, don't worry...I dont plan to dye again for another 4-6 weeks as recommended. And I can't afford $200 at a salon so please dont send me in that direction. Thanks!

Answer
I experimented with red dye for about 6 months on my own, but have had red professional dyed hair for 3 years now. I'm a medium brown with sun highlights as well. I got the extreme with self dye, my friends called it mountain dew code red color, to a dark auburn. It really depends on your base color. Those front photos on the box don't tell you what the person started with, so it's better to look at the photos of what your hair will look like depending on your base color. I now go to a haircolorist, but I question if I should continue. Money issues.... I love Isla Fishers hair color, and the girl from MadMen. They are both blondes that dye red, which makes it hard for us brunettes to compete. So don't try to duplicate too much of Isla's color, it won't work for us. So your choice of medium auburn was the right one. If you are really gustsy try a strawberry blonde, it probably won't take as much, and have a darker red since you have brown hair.

how long does red hair dye take to fade?

dee

i'm thinking about dying my hair a DARK REDDISH PURPLE. [dying it myself, i found a colour i like in the Garnier brand].
how long does it last? and does it fade to a weird brownish colour?
[my hair right now is dark brown]

and while i'm at it.. how long do i have to wait before i can dye over it, if need be?

thanks a lot! :)

Answer
Red usually fades really fast. Most of the time you have to pre-lighten (bleach) the hair before applying because the red will not show up on darker hair, or previously dyed hair. It will most likely fade to an orangey color. If you need to dye over it, wait a few weeks so that you don't completely damage your hair.
Also, you should try this http://www.sallybeauty.com/Unred-Colo-Drabber/ARDELL17,default,pd.html?cgid=Hair05-07 you put a few drops in with the dye and it will help your hair from fading to that nasty orange color so quickly. I used it when I had red hair and it worked good.

do semi permanent red hair dyes fade to your natural color or do they leave residue?

G.

i'm waiting for my natural hair to grow out and i wanted to use semi-permanent colors while i wait. i want to use semi-permanent red and i know that permanent red dyes fade into a brown/copper color. Sooo i was wondering for semi-permanent red hair dye, does it:
A) fade to your natural hair color
B) fade into the brown/copper color
C) fade into the brown/copper color and then fade into your natural hair color

Thankyou so much for whoever answers!

Answer
Red dye is the hardest to go out. I have semi permanently and permanently died my hair reds. Anyways the answer.

D) None of the above red's fade to lighter reds like auburn color copper if you're lucky but permanent means that they won't fade so permanent red's should stay the same or fade a bit to a few lighter shades. Semi Permanent will do about the same light red or copper.

Is Dragon Ball Racist?

Tyrell Woo

Do you think dragon ball is racist?Goku has to turn European to defeat other characters (He gets squinty green eyes and blonde hair). And when he get's defeated he turns in to a mere brown eyed black haired Japanese man. Also there is only one black character in the whole series and his name is Staff Officer Black.Staff Officer Black has big red lips and is very ugly.He is also a Nazi. And there is a character on there named Mr. Popo who looks like a banned blackface character from the fifty's.What the fuck? What do you think about this?I think Akira Toriyama is extremely self hateful for making his characters have to turn white in order to defeat enemies. And i think he's racist for making Staff Officer Black and Mr. Popo.I'll post a link so you can see Staff Officer Black. And if you haven't seen Super Saiyan or Mr. Popo just type it in on the website. Also look at Goku without Super Saiyan if you haven't seen him.And for the fan's i know Goku's a saiyan but he looks Japanese so that's why i called him Japanese.Excuse my poor grammer.

http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Staff_Officer_Black

Answer
No, just, no. I lived in Japan during the inital releases of both Dragonball, and Z. The author simply gave his lead characters a 'different' look when they powered up and went 'Legendary'. The story woulda sucked if they looked the same way. Notice also the long hair that Goku grew when achieving SS3, thats something that other mangas today even copy (Ichigo, Bleach). The 'Black Face' of Popo shouldn't have been that 'alarming', the story is filled with talking, fighting, animals. It was simply a story for boys/young men during its run. I'm black, and I wasn't offended.

Red lipstick to match skin tone/hair colour?

Q. My hair's kind of like this colour http://www1.cs.columbia.edu/CAVE/projects/separation/images/Hair_Auburn_Global.jpg but less red, and I've pale skin, but I'm not sure what the undertones are, it's kind of like a creamy colour? Hahaha [And pale blue eyes if that's relevant]

Anyway, I want this lipstick, you have to look it up because MAC won't let me link the exact colour, it's called 'Lady Danger', so would this suit? If not, what would?
http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/spp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT168&PRODUCT_ID=310

Thanks. :D

Answer
If you are more orange toned, you should choose a more orangey red lipstick. If you tan easily and turn brown nicely, you are probably orange toned.
For the pink toned, which means that you usually burn quickly out in the sun, you want to choose a deeper bluey red. If you're this tone, like me, I would suggest Dubonnet from Mac. It's perfect for that skin tone.

If you really wanted, you can do a different red than your skin tone suits. But, it won't look as good. Trust me, I struggled with this for a long time before I found the right red and realized that I had been choosing the wrong shade all this time. It will really look awful if you don't pick the proper color for your skin.

Need help choosing new hair color for my skin tone?

Liquid Che

I'm looking for a different hair color and I thought something reddish brown would be a nice change. My hair has been black forever. I have a warm skin tone with, what I think are, yellow undertones. Would the color look too weird on me? This is an old photo just for the skin tone, my hair is not short like this anymore.

Look bad? Good? Other hair color suggestions?
Thanks!
nothing opens once you use the links.

Answer
i think that the reddish brown color would look good because you have a warm skin tone. if you would go with cool hair colors, your skin would look washed out. i like the first three of the photos and i don't really like the blonde one. also, i think that your skin tone would look better with the first three hair colors than the models on the box!

I was just wondering what people think of my naruto OC.......?

Dark Sorce

Her name is Sabrina Touwata meaning royal bloodflower (the last name is Japanese though the first isn't). She is about 15 and has dark brown hair shaded red in some areas, her hair goes to just below her shoulder and is found layered with a portion hiding her left eye. She always wears her hair down and has eyes that are mix between olive, green, and gold. She wears a black tank top that shows some cleavage with black shorty shorts, and sandals that are just like Sakura's in the shippuden episodes. She also wears a leather bound necklace that has a clear quartz crystal hanging from it. Oh and she has a skinny figure with a curve. Her clan's kekkei genkai is called Tsumejin which allows them to be able to change their humanly form into that of the animal(s) their soul is connected to (even though those animals can only be predatory mammals). She's able to transform into a large black she-wolf or a brown tinted coyote. She also has a large male black and silver wolf that travels by her side, she calls him Akuma meaning nightmare or devil, his eye color is a deep green. And she also has a pet weasel that she got from her mom when she was young (oh forgot to mention earlier but her clan was killed because of their kekkei genkai and she was the only one who escaped the execution and the weasel just looks like a black footed ferret), he's called Maho meaning magic. She is part of the akatsuki and is on the same team as Itachi and Kisame, and she completely despises Hidan. Her personality is she can act sweet and calm around those she trusts (which are few) but can mercilessly destroy anyone who she finds are "in her way", and she can act like a complete idiot when she wants. She likes books, music, most animals, weapons, anything scary, black, art, and pockey. She hates prisses/fangirls, pink, romancey things though she can tolerate them, people who treat other people like shit cause their weaker, and alot of other things. Oh and before I forget she also had the Five-Tailed Wolf Demon sealed inside of her when she was born, and she calls her Tama meaning soul or spirit, She specializes in fire and darkness (if possible) based jutsus and can summon 3 tails and still have control over the demon inside of her. She hates Sasuke and also knows who Tobi really is (but hedon't knoww that).

So that's it and all the names except her first are Japanese.THANKS!

Answer
I guess it would work if it was in the Naruto universe, if you mean to traverse into Shippudden, you might have to make her a bit more older and darker since the series is more serious. I don't feel like 2 pets is a good thing. You should either take one out or give her less powers that focus on helping her pets. Also, be sure to make her hair have that kind of jagged edge that people have in naruto. Since she and/or her pet is wolves or coyotes, make the dog guy(forgot his name, sorry, you know who I mean) either relatives or enemies since their animals are. Besides that it seems like a good idea. Just make sure you don't diverge from the Naruto basis or you might as well create another universe. Hope I helped and I wasn't pointing out your flaws, I'm just trying to help :)

EDIT: When or if you write something, be sure to try and get my attention and I'll look at it. It really is a good idea and has a lot of potential. Goog luck x)

I asked my mom for The Sims 3 for my birthday and I'm already planning my sims. I heard the skin colors included red, blue, and green, and wondered is that still true? Or did they patch that out? I see plenty of sims on the internet with unusual skin colors like that. Also how can I get two-toned hair?

Answer
Yes they still have those skin tones. As for hair when you go to pick a hair stlye the colors will be at the bottom if you want to costumize the color look in the corner for a little paintbrush and you can make different toned hair. Any color imaginable

best products to keep the red hair coloring?

Bettina S

love to color my hair in red hair dye, unfortunately, the red washes out quickly. wish products can you use to keep the color from fading or perhaps even turning to an ugly orange. also, i do alot of water sports, will the clorox from the pool fade my hair dye even more or not, please help. thanks

Answer
There was something I used to lock the hair color in my hair but I forgot what it was called. It worked better than I thought but the dye still washed out but little over time. All I can think of is wearing a swim cap to keep your hair dry. :/

caring for red coloured hair ?

Q. so, my hairs naturally brown, and i coloured it red... like a bright red... is there any tips or advice you could give me so the colour lasts longer.. also any special products that you know of thats good for red hair ?? thanksss :) xx

Answer
I used to have red hair up until a few weeks ago. All i can say is to buy the hair dye you used so whenever your roots grow out you can cover them up. Also, I'd use a shampoo made specifically for redheads, like John Frieda Radiant Red Color Captivating Daily Shampoo. If you can do that, and condition your hair daily, it will look gorgeous and be healthy.

Tips on caring for red hair?

Q. I'm thinking about dying my hair from light, ugly brown to a red...like, brownish red, not majorly red-red. if that makes sense.
anyway, is it hard to take care of? what should I know before dying it? How do i keep it in good shape?
Thanksss.

Answer
Red is the sexiest color a girl could ever dye her hair! LOL, anyways, it isn't really hard to take care of. The only con of dying your hair red is that it doesn't last long; it's the color that fades the most out of brown, blonde, etc. There isn't really anything to know except the basic precautions. (They can be found on your hair dye). If you want the color to last and stay in shape, you should buy some color preserve shampoo, any brand is okay, you should look at makeupalley.com to see reviews on which shampoo&conditioner works best. Btw, if your hair is kinda dark brown, i don't think the red hair dye would show up. I'm not saying you should bleach it either! Please don't do that! :O Verry veryy damaging. You should head up to Sally's and get this hair dye, it's called L'Oreal Excellence Hicolor, i recommend dark auburn red, it's like a brownish red. Then buy Ion 20 developer, mix it together and then voila! Brown red hair. It'll cost you less than 15 bucks. Good luck!

Going from brown to red - best hair color?

Nina

I have medium brown hair, and want a reddish brown shade. I know I'll have to go with a strong red color to phase my dark hair. Any brunettes go red? With at-home color? What did you use?

Answer
Ferria. Its my fave. I find that they make me have really vibrant hair. But yeah if you have lighter brown hair you will tend to have lighter red hair.
Unfortunately red hair tends to fade faster than any other color of hair.

I have red/brown hair & blue/green eyes...?

I have red/brown hair, blue/green eyes and quite a pale complexion. What colors would suit me in terms of eyemake-up and clothes?

for eye-makeup , i'd say greens & browns as of your red/brown hair. the green would really compliment you're green eyes, and the brown would go nice too. stick to earthy tones

Should I color my hair red?

Southern B

I'm thinking about coloring my hair like a Haliey Williams cherry red because I want to color my hair a fun color, but I don't know if I should because I have soft black colored hair and I have an olive skin tone and I have freckles splashed across my nose but people can't really see them in the winter.
I have dark chocolate brown colored eyes.
I meant hayley Williams.

Answer
Red is a really hard color to pull off but if you really want to do it get it done professionally please. There are two types of red hot red(orange-red) and cool red(blue/purple red) and hot red looks like clown hair on people with olive skin tones. All of the colors Hayley has in her hair are hot red colors and would clash terribly with your skin tone, she has pink toned skin so it looks fine on her. Like I said red is a really hard color to get right, so please have a professional do it for you.

Also because you have black hair they'll have to lift quite a bit of color to get your hair close to what she has, they'll probably have to do it over a period of a few days, just keep that in mind. Walk into the salon you choose before you get it done with a picture of Hayley how you like is as ask what the actual colorist thinks would be do able for your hair, the prices, time it would take, how much maintenance and up keep it will take, etc.

Hope this helps.

Red, Hair Coloring Questions?

Sharon

Right now I have dark blonde hair. I would like something different and am thinking about getting my hair dyed red. I am thinking about professionally getting it done cause i've done some research and saw how quickly box red hair dye fades. But I have these few questions for anyone experienced. I am not going to get a BRIGHT fire truck red, so I don't think any bleaching will be needed. Feel free to answer a few, or one. Any advice helps. :)
Does all over professional hair dye damage you hair? (I have only done box dye)
Will the professional red fade?
I wear clip in extensions also. I would buy a box dye and dye those to save money, which brand of extentions take better to dye? (I currently have foxy locks and after 6 months of every other day use, they are dry and nasty.)
How should I keep the red longer, if it does fade?
I use repure shampoo and conditioner (the natural stuff)

Answer
Professional dye does damage your hair but not as much as box dye.
I only have sally's hair extensions but they seem to get the dye good
Don't wash your hair everyday, use shampoo and conditioner for red hair.
I only wash my hair 3-4 times a week, hope it helps c:

I turn 21 in 6 hours. What should my first legal alcoholic beverage be?

Amberly

No shots please :D I have had alcohol before obviously, but I have to make my first legal one special. What should it be? My husband and I are going to the bar tomorrow night after we eat at Red Robin. Also, I was thinking of dressing up and looking halfway decent, but I figured if I'm gonna get smashed, I dunno how sexy mascara looks while running down your cheeks and my hair's a mess. hahaha!! Anyone have any 21st birthday stories they wanna share?

Answer
I'm with "beer is good for breakfast" avatar on this one.

Have a nice light dinner, then find a nice elegant piano bar and go with something sleek and sexy like a cosmo, don't mix a lot of drinks, maybe a chocolate martini, and go home before you get too drunk, and save some of the good evening for each other, if you know what I mean.

I need help finding this Youtube video...?!?

Banana Bab

Okay, it's a video of a teen boy with dark hair playing the piano. The song is Apologize by OneRepublic. He also did I'm Yours by Jason Mraz and Love Story by Taylor Swift. The lyrics pop up on the video as it is played, and the words are red. There is a link on the side to the sheet music. Could someone please help find this video?!

Answer
There are 3 different things you can do to try and find a
video that you have previously seen. Not only that, you
can make your results appear either: 1) in alphabetical
order, 2) in chronological order or 3) in photo thumbnail
form:

ALPHABETICALLY (tons of results):
highlight the URL address bar on top, then simply type
in the word "youtube". From those results, you will see:
-- every YouTube address you typed
-- every YouTube channel you visited
-- every YouTube video you watched
but it will be ugly YouTube code like "v=Ab1Cd2eF3Gh".

CHRONOLOGICALLY (many results):
simply click on your internet browser's "History" button
or tap "CTRL" and the letter "H" on your keyboard, and
you will get a daily list of every website which you have
visited. Every YouTube video will be mixed in with all of
the different websites, but it'll actually be easier for you
to find what you're looking for -- because everything will
be displayed in "plain" English. And because each and
every YouTube video is in fact its own website, you will
also be able to see the full title of each video.

PHOTO THUMBNAIL (few results):
at the top right of just about every YouTube page is the
name "QuickList". Click on that, and then after you are
on the new page, click on "History" immediately below
the highlighted grey bar. You will see thumbnails of the
most recent videos you have viewed, but only the most
recent. That is because every time that you open / exit
YouTube, everything vanishes, and starts all over again.

Believe it or not, you can see your YouTube "QuickList"
and "viewing history" from right here within Yahoo. Just
click on my links below, and they'll take you directly to
"YOUR VERY OWN" histories. (YouTube may first ask
you to 'sign in' with your username and your password):

http://www.youtube.com/my_history
http://www.youtube.com/my_quicklist

I hope that my multiple answer is a little helpful for you.

A brand of at-home hair color with NO red undertone?

Michelle

My hair is brown right now but takes red color very well. I do not want ANY red color to come into my hair at all. What brands and colors should I go with for a rich, chocolate brown color with NO red undertone.

Answer
Chocolate has red in it! Rich colors usually have red in it so if you want NO red AT ALL go for cool colors like a "Ash" ash cancels out red tones! anything that says "rich" or "warm" usually have a bit of red! also i highly recomment putting in Ardell red gold corrector plus it helps get rid of unwanted red and yellow tones. Brand, ive always used when i did box color was loreal superior preference!

What is warm brown hair?

Ang

Does warm brown hair have a red undertone or golden? if i want a more chocolate brown what should i ask for at the salon my hair is medium auburn right now. any pictures of warm brown hair or chocolate would be awesome!

Answer
Warm Brown hair has a noticable golden undertones and subtle red undertones. Sometimes there is no red.

It is a good idea to see how the hair color will look on you, also. Try going to *note, remember to match the hairstyle to one similar to yours* :

http://www.marieclaire.com/hair-beauty/trends/articles/virtual-hair-salon

and put in your picture. For base hair color, Dark neutral brown. This looks like it is not warm, but the highlights will help. For highlights, try light golden brown. For lowlights, light carmel brown will warm it up alot.

If you like this, ask for chocolate brown with warm brown highlights. Your hairstylist will have an idea of what you mean. Print out the picture of you on Marie Claire when you have the finished haircolor.

If you didn't like the final haircolor, you can mess around with the base color and highlights and lowlights. Write down the names of the colors you used to help the hairstylist get a better idea of what you want.

How do you feel about biracial women that relax their hair?
Any color but their natural hair color.

This is for those of you that think women with relaxed hair someone how hate being black, don't like their natural hair texture, have been brainwashed, and whatever else.

Answer
Artistic and beautiful! I say it's a part of black beauty too.It suits some and some just look like a hot ghetto mess thinking they got it.If they took a look at the shade of their complexion and see just the right shade, such as a dark brown girl should take a more cinnamon dark red.I remember their was something like a chart in one of my black magazines and it speaks the truth.

Im going to a salon to get red hair dye taken out of my hair...i have a couple questions about it.?

chasergorg

Ive been dying my hair red for a couple years now and i wanna go back to a brunette. I dont wanna try stripping the color at home, cuz im afraid i could make it look awful. Anyway, what do they do at the salon to get the red out? What color will it turn my hair? And how much damage will it do?? Thanks..

Answer
Google Salon Hair Dye Lawsuits. About 336,000 results (0.17 seconds)
When it comes to hair care treatments, product use or visits to a salon or spa, the consumer must take responsibility to do their homework and be aware of all the risks involved.

There is never a guarantee, stripping done @ home, @ the spa or salon. Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.

Hair dye AND hair stripping are both chemicals. Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

example: oohs are bright red,and the rest is dark red . . .

Celebrity wears them all the time. Watch Victoria on the Young & the Restless, and another on Entertainment Tonight, she's one of the correspondence. Guiliana Rancic have had her hair done like that for years! I'd imagine, RATHER than strip their hair, they let their hair dye grow allowing NEW GROWTHS to take over.

You can do one of two things, to remove most of that dye. Links have been moved, might have to type them out.

1. By using Tide detergent with shampoo
Google "How to Remove Dye from Hair"

or

2. By shampooing you hair mix with a bit of Dawn.
Google "How to Use Dawn Dishwashing Liquid for Lightening Hair."

Here's an example what hair stripping will do to your hair.
It is worst than hair dyes. "I accidentally dyed my hair this awful black, stripped it, and now it is this crunchy crispy mess!"

Hair strippers are chemical treatments which are intended to strip out artificial color pigment with less risk or damage to the hair. The chemicals used are called reducing agents.
Certain 'metal' strippers containing sodium sulphoites are sold for reducing hair dyed with metallic dyes, as these dyes react violently with tint stripper containing hydrogen peroxide-the subsequent reaction may cause so much heat that the hair gets dissolved.
Example: So i just put Colour B4 on my hair to try and remove my black dye so my hair it's natural colour which is dark blonde. so i've just dried my hair and there's still dark patches on it. and in some places it's gone ginger. i have garnier pre lightener. should i use it? there's no way my hair could look worse than it is now lol.

Before bottled shampoo & hair products were invented, mid 60's, all we've ever used was a bar of soap for body, hair & laundry. Just make sure you rinse well. Try that if that works better!

Ombre-ing naturally red hair?

red

My hair is naturally a dark-ish auburn red color and is down to my lower back. I really want to do an ombre hairstyle [not with a blonde but with a lighter red-orange color so it's not so... BAM], and I plan on doing it myself because I'm a broke college student. I have never dyed my hair [unless you count using my sisters leftover black hair-dye to do a super sweet random streak in the 7th grade... I like to NOT think about it.] I have seen a lot of tutorials and it looks like a really easy process, but pretty much all of them were going from brown to blonde, and my hair is a little different, so I have a few questions:

1. Do I need to use bleach on my hair to get it lighter?
2. Is there a technique you have used that did or did not work well for you?
3. Is this a stupid idea?

My hair looks a lot like this [length and color wise...minus the ombre part], but once I get the ombre part done, I want it to look exactly like this:

http://weheartit.com/entry/28184078

Thank you Pinterest.com

Answer
That's so weird you asked this question! I just looked up ways to bleach your hair at home, and I think I may have the answer for you. Well, since your hair is red and you want it to be orange, if you fill a spray bottle a little bit with hydrogen peroxide, then spray it on the parts you want to be ombre-ed then leave it in for a while, then rinse it out, you shold get noticeably lighter hair. I have black hair and I bleached a section of my hair with this, and it turned it lighter in about 30 minutes. So I think that would make a great ombre look. You can make it as light as you want, and if you don't like it you could just re-dye your hair it's nautral color. I hope that's what you wanted! :D

how would i get my hair like this?

Bri

Ok, so my hair is a redish-brown. I'm 15. I've never dyed my hair before. I wanna do this but with temporarily dye.
http://data.whicdn.com/images/15345878/tumblr_ls5qnkHXMG1qelzeao1_500_large.png

Questions:
What colors would i need to dye it for it to look like this?
Would my hair be really damaged afterwords?
Would my natural hair color come back after it all washes away?
Would i have trouble with my hair later on in life?

Thanks :)

Answer
1) The red color looks like crimson (keep in mind just bc it looks good there doesnt mean it will fit what you want, so play around with the different red colors in the "red family" on a color pallet. To get your hair that red you're going to have to lift the color (bleach)

The minute I say Bleach I know you should defiantly go to a beautician to get that look done properly.

2) Your hair will become weaker. You can minimize the weakness by deep conditioning, using hydrating shampoo like from herbal essence (hello hydration: in a blue bottle), leave in conditioner, defiantly staying away from products with alcohol. Use organic everything that you put in your hair from sheen spray and all! Go for routine washes! Keep your hair from being dry. Alcohol drys your hair out, bottom line.

Your natural hair color will not come back after a couple of washes, the new color in your hair will lighten though. You will see new growth as your hair is growing back in the root area so you will have to get it bleached and colored again (a touch up)

You will only have trouble later on if you don't take care of it while the color is in and while your growing the color out when you don't want the color any more IF YOU DO NOT TREAT IT WITH DEEP CONDITIONER, PROPER PRODUCTS ECT. Also you need to get this done by a professional bc this takes technique and also an evaluation of your hair from a honest beautician who will tell you if your hair is strong enough to even do this look.

Good Luck

I love love love love love this style by the way.

Minnie Mouse Hair/Makeup?

Faye Dawso

So ive got a fancy dress party tonight and im going as minnie mouse (;
Ive alredy got the costume, i had to make one up from different items bcoz i coudnt find a proper costume tht woud fit me and i didnt have enuff time to order 1 online.
But anyways my costume is a
red shirt with big white dots on it
Bodycon skirt (so it has an element of sexines i guess)
Bright red tights
White dolly shoes.
Minnie Mouse Ears

So what should i do for hair/makeup? I was thinking for hair to put it up in to a very high messy top knot and leave my bangs and 2 front piecces of hair and curl them. (and then put the ears on :P)

And for makeup i was thinking
1) My borjouis healthy mix foundation
2) Collection 2000 concealer
3) Using the pastel-y colours from a sleek pallet
4) Quite thick winged eyeliner
5) Big fake Eyelashes and mascara
6) Either my new sleek paint pout in Pinkini (a bright hot-pink colour) or a rimmel red or just my fave nude-ish MAC lipstick in angel

Ohh yeah and a lil nose!!!

So is that a good idea? What should i change? What colour/design should i have on my nails?

Thanks In Advance
XXX

Answer
Well for hair I'm not too sure. Something like a brazilian blow out for you hair (but not too sexy looking) and your bangs out (assuming you have a straight fringe, not side swept) is super mini mouse. If you doing to do a bun, then keep it very tight, and really high, or else it'll look bad with the two front pieces.

First, apply foundation! Even if you don't need it, at least put a light layer on. Normally that's totally against my makeup rules, but Disney characters (so what if she's a mouse?) Have flawless, amazing skin. Not even a hint of redness. Nothing. Perfect. Though nothing is perfect, you need to get close to that airbrushed affect. Try stippling on your foundation, than blending it out with a sponge. Then, use a concealer to conceal dark circles, blemishes etc. After that, put on a little bit of powder (You want to have a glowey effect, not totally matte.) As for blush, go with a very, sheer pink blush. You just want the tiniest bit of a flush. A highlighter will help with the deweyness aspect, and it'll help slim your noise (since all Disney characters have skinny noses. So unfair, especially since my nose is the size of and elephants!). Apply it on the bridge of your nose, and a little bit on your cheek bones. Then contour, not your face (She has a really soft round face. You don't want to look to harsh and sculpted. You can even skip highlighting your cheekbones) but your nose. It'll do wonders! Look up a tutorial on how to contour your nose, I don't know how to explain it in writing, lol!

For lips, though we all know Minnie Mouse doesn't have lips, a fun, bright pink lip will really help bring out the Minnie in you. I recommend Mac Show Orchid Lipstick.

For eyes, do some winged eyeliner, and HUGE lashes, layer on the falsies! Don't forget to wing the eyeliner a little bit more than usual, but not so much that you look outrageous, obviously. Then, here's a tip (Yes, I did steal this from Michelle Phan): Dot an eyeliner right below your lower lashes (three dots looks best) starting from the outer corner of your lower lash line (NOT your water line!). It gives you that super cute, super innocent "Who? Me?" effect. Line your waterline with a white eyeliner pencil do make your eyes look bigger.

For nails, I think a simple french tip would look best.

Hope this helps!

bright red and blonde hair, outfit colors?

i have platinum blonde hair with bright, bright red underneath it. Prom is coming up and i dunno what color dress to get. red, black, white, blue.. ? D: i have bright blue eyes too. o.o
& my hair for Prom.. i want it mostly down, but still different. not just straighted.. & my hair gets REALLY poofy when it's curled & that's weird.. any tips?
oh & my complextion is REALLLY light. i'm very white D;

Answer
You need to pick a color that goes with your hair, and don't pick blue because with the red hair under it it may look funky. If it makes you look strawberry blonde, then you could probably pick blue. I would go with a color with a black sheer over it.

I have bright red hair, should I colour my eyebrows the same?

Ocean

If you google LedaMonsterBunny, you'll see that sometimes she'll colour in her eyebrows the same colour as her hair. My eyebrows are naturally black/Dark brown and im just wondering if i should colour them to match my red hair.

Answer
No.
DYEING EYEBROWS
Myth 7: Dye your eyebrows to match your hair color.
False: â Your hair color and eyebrows should not be a perfect match. A slight contrast is good,â says Warren, makeup artist to the stars. To lighten up your brows and fill them in for a natural look, use a brow pencil or powder one shade lighter than your hair color.

Never dye your eyebrows or eyelashes. This can hurt your eyes. You might even go blind. FDA does not allow using hair dyes on eyelashes and eyebrows.

That's why someone invented eyebrow pencils. If you want to change the color of your eyebrows, shave them, then line them with eyebrow pencils. Google celebrities with different color hair and see what eyebrow colors they have. Google Lady Gaga and check out what color eyebrows she's got with her so many wig changes. Have you seen Miley's eyebrows? She's now blonde!

Example from one salon to a client: "i have been a beauty therapist for 8 years and have never experienced a client react to an eyelash tint..
The client came in to have her hair done and while she was having this done asked about the eyelash tint.. she told me that she had a reaction in the past when she had it done so i gave her a patch test. about 40 Min's later she said that by now she would have reacted to it and said she would like to go with it and have it done.. so taking her world for it i done the tint she then asked for her eyebrows too..
this was on a saturday, monday morning i got a phone call from my boss saying i had to come in as the client had a reaction anyway when i got there i was a bit shaken as i didn't know what to expect the client was very sore.. she then said that she didn't want to take further action and that she just wanted me to know to be more careful for next time :s . . . . i think I'm going to give up my job too as my confidence has gone down the drain :( "

How to go to dark brown to light red hair.?

ajkillah

My hair is really dark brown.
and i wanna dye the top part of my hair Red.
Do i have to bleach it first?
or is there some dye thats really bright and i dont have to bleach it, cause honestly i dont wanna bleach my hair again! so help anyone???

Answer
You will have to bleach it. But since you only want to be a light red (I'm assuming flashy?) you won't need to bleach it for a long time.

When hair is bleached, it goes through 10 stages. For example, since your hair is dark brown, your underlying pigment in your hair is going to be red. This means that when you bleach your hair, you will notice your hair will first turn the color red (stages 1-4), then it changes to red/orange (5,6), then orange (7), then orange yellow (8), then yellow (9), then very pale yellow to white(10+).

With bleach, the lighter you go, the more damage gets done to your hair. So in your case, you don't have to worry much because you don't need to get to the yelloy pigment to get your red color.

When you apply the bleach, keep watching your hair in the mirror (in natural light works best) and rinse out your hair when it is orange looking. When it is at that stage then you can apply your red color (would be best with a violet base to tame the orange. I wouldn't use blue (or ash base) because then you would cut out the red entirely).

Good Luck!

Red hair color mix up!?

amanda p

I wanted to color my hair Julianne Moore red. My hair is a medium brown and I used a medium auburn shade. The color turned out darker than what I wanted. Would it work to get a dark golden blonde to lighten it up? I'm thinking the golden tone would kick up the red, and the blonding agent would take out some of the dark.

Answer
A general rule with salon haircolor is that if you put a lighter color over a darker one it will not lift. Sometimes with boxcolor it will but chances are that will result in breakage and an uneven color. I am a hair stylist and have seen a lot of bad results from people trying to do this. Your recent hair growth and ends may end up lighter and an odd shade. The middle of the hair might not even lift at all. Your best bet would probably be to try and let it fade a little or go to a professional. Going to a professional will usually cost you less in the long run because if you try to lift it and need to have it fixed you will most likely be charged for a color correction which can be pretty expensive!

Hair color correction HELP?

Rebecca

I want to go back to my natural color for the summer which is like a dirty blonde, but first of all here is my dye history...
-Red from August 2010 to february 2011
-Went back to my natural color from march to beginning of July
-Rainbow hair from beginning of july to beginning of september
-Dyed close to my natural color over the rainbow in september, then dyed just my bottom layer rainbow until October 9th, i dyed it dark brown but it turned out black. it eventually faded to a nice brown
-Mixed deep burgundy and dark auburn (revlon colorsilk) the week before Christmas, same color on january 5th and march 2nd.
and here i am now....my hair is basically just brown, the red washed out. i made an apt at a salon to go back to my natural color but then i realized id have to go through a whole process to go back to blonde. I talked to my aunt who owns her own salon and she said to cancel my apt and id have to strip, fill, then dye my hair and even then its not guaranteed that my hair will turn out. She is going to try a product she has in a couple weeks on a little piece of my hair that is supposed to penetrate the hair strand deep enough but leave the natural color, but shes not sure how it will turn out which is why shes only trying it on a little piece because it could turn orange.
I take really good care of my hair i use deep hydrating masques very frequently and i get regular trims, and i dont use heat that often.
Now my question is, is there anything i can do at home like home remedies to atleast help the dye come out some, without using color oops or anything like that ? ive heard that baking soda or powder or whatever works and using hot oil treatments. Please any suggestion will help me.

Here are some pictures of my natural color

THANK YOU SO MUCH.
the picture links prolly dont work, just ignore them lol

Answer
You are just like I used to be!!!
Tje only thing you can really do is try the process that your aunt recommends. The trick is to re-do it a week later if it doesn't work. (NEVER try to correct a colour in the first 48 hours - I had a hair dresser do this and my hair started to fall out and took 3 years to grow out and be healthy again!)

Head lice shampoo is quite tough on your hair and can strip colour - Try this but follow it up with a nice conditioning treatment

what hair color number/code is haley from paramores hair?

melielyn1

i wanna dye my hair the color of the hair of haley from paramore the color of her hair in the pressure music video what code or number is it on the box like loreal paris???

Answer
i've had my hair a similar color and what i used was the loreal color pulse - which is kind of a permanent dye or rinse that washes out over time. i think i used the funky cherry color - it'll turn out different depending on what natural hair color you have though. another thing i've used is clairol natural instincts. a good match for the color you're looking for would be 20R Malaysian Cherry - dark red. but again, that depends on your natural color. here's a link to the clairol page: http://www.clairol.com/naturalinstincts/shade_chart_red.jsp

hope i helped!

Red and Black Hair....help?

silentbeau

So I have bright red hair... http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=411980853&albumId=1264225

But I kind of want to add black in my hair but not a lot. I can't seem to find anything that would look right..I don't want much black either... Can you help me?

Answer
I LOVE YOUR HAIR!!

anyways, i think black would look really good in your hair but i would put it underneath so it shows like that. The red really stands out and looks really good, so i would keep most of that...

Just take a big section of your hair underneath and dye it midnight black, i had a cousin who did that to her hair and it looked soo good, granted her hair wasnt as red as yours but it was a red tint.

Hope this helped!
btw...go A7X!! :)

I want to dye my hair red but I have black underneath?
