Colors to dye red hair?

Justine

I have naturally darkish red hair. As of right now it almost looks blonde because of all of my highlights. I have no freckles on my face, brown eyes and brown eyebrows and eyelashes. Fair skin, not completely pale. My hair stops just above my shoulders, shorter in the front longer in the back.I'm a weird looking red head. And I want to dye my hair for the summer! I would like to stay in the red range. Any suggestions? I am open to ALL ideas(:.

I have had brown hair before, it washed me out. I also want to stand out. Not a boring color. I want to step out of my comfort zone but not too much.

I want to wear red lipstick with my dark turquoise colored dress...?

Essie

It has a lil black lacing on it too. Do you think it will look good? If not, should I wear a different color lipstick with it and if so, what color?

Answer
Choose a red that will compliment your skin and hair and eyes, also if your dark turquoise dress has more of a blue/purple cast, you should wear a cool red lipstick, if your turquoise dress has more of a yellow/green cast, then wear an warm red. If you don't know what i mean, try holding up a royal blue, or primary yellow piece of paper up to your dress, the one that seems to bring out the color or compliment it more is the one you should go with in choosing a lipstick color.

It will probably take some trial and error If you stop by a department store makeup counter, the sales person/makeup artist can point you in the right direction, and give you some samples to try. A lot of them will do all your makeup for free ( I made 2 appts. and did a trial run and then did the makeup the day of my wedding, at the Clinique counter) It is a courtesy, however, to make a purchase...so maybe you could buy the lipstick you're looking for, to keep in your purse for touch ups.

Also if you are wearing a strong lipstick color, then play down your eyes and cheeks, or you can look like a clown...
A make up artist once told me to play up one feature, or my best feature...so that people who look at you notice how dramatic that feature is...if everything is screaming out of your face, they only notice the makeup.

So with red lips do a neutral eye and only a little definition on the cheekbones...
But if you want to do a smokey sexy shadowy eye, then do a neutral lip...

Also, Pinks and berries are very fashionable right now, and a deep berry stain on your lips would really compliment the teal/turquoise of your dress...they are both jewel tones, so they would work well together! Whatever you do, I'm sure you'll look great!

Good luck and have fun!

My Prom Dress Color and Type?

Q. I am going to prom with a junior and I am a freshman.

I have dark red hair, blue eyes, and pale skin. I don't know which colors or what type of dress to get; should it be short or long?

What do you think?
I am 4'10" and YES WE WILL BEHAVE OURSELVES :)

Answer
I would also go with blue, or purples, stay away from brighter colors tho like yellows and oranges and greens. I'm getting a long dress myself, I think long dresses look more pretty especially for prom, they have more of a fairy tale element to it. Also when you think about it you aren't gonna get many chances to really wear a long formal gown, and really dress up afterwards. But short dresses you will get more chances to wear, so I would go with a long dress

Also answer mine plz, I keep getting o respones! :'(

Help me figure out this sentence?

Q. "Her wariness of narrative as an interpretive device has the last word ..."

Key words: "interpretive device". I can't figure out if the author means that narrative can be interpreted and therefore should be mistrusted, or if he means, specific methodologies (ie., feminist) should be mistrusted ...

what do you think?
It just seems like such an awkward sentence to me. "Narrative as an interpretive device"? Narrative ITSELF can't be the interpretive device. It's OPEN TO interpretation. The "device" sounds more like a specific critique or method ... no?

Answer
paul,

I would go with the mistrust of narratives.

I think I know where you're going.

I took it as "her wariness" being the "interpretive device". She can have wariness of females with red hair...it would be her wariness, whatever the reason for that wariness, that would make her feel differently about red-haired females.

Do most men have to date a woman more useless than himself?

Danger Exh

Since most women tend to date up. Women want someone superior to themselves financially, physically, mentally, etc.
Or at least with most of those things.

So that means we always get to date useless women.

In the rare case that a woman is more intelligent than me she is always a one trick pony anyway and looking for a sugar daddy.

Answer
Red hair can go beautifully with blue eyes and tanned skin! The key to hair color, like lip color, is finding a shade that suits your skin tone; not your eyes, or clothing, etc. It also depends on how light, or dark you'd like it, or with what undertones. You could choose copper, with orange undertones. Or copper with brown undertones! Just look. If you're unsatisfied with the first color choice, just wait at LEAST a month, and try for another shade! Red is very difficult to adjust to, and the color bleeds/fades very easily. So constant maintenance is a downfall, but if you really enjoy being a red-head, you'll find it worth it!

Blue eyed and red head people in ancient years?Loool!!!!!wtf?

ArtemiC

Ok i just was reading the article in wikipedia about redheads and i know that light eye colors started to appear about 10.000 years ago
so it says:
"A fragment by the Greek poet Xenophanes describes the Thracians as blue-eyed and red haired. The Greek historian Herodotus described the "Budini" (probably Udmurts and Permyak located on the Volga in what is modern-day Russia) as being predominantly redheaded. The Greek historian Dio Cassius described Boudica, the famous Celtic Queen of the Iceni, to be "tall and terrifying in appearance... a great mass of red hair... over her shoulders." Also, several mythological characters from Homer's Iliad, (themselves purportedly Greek) are described as being "red-haired" including Menelaus and Achilles."

Well firstly red hair were not supposed to exist by that time so i am confused the same with the blue eye thing also i have read some other articles from ancient greek years that also kind of report the existance of light eyes and blonde hair(when did blonde and light hair appear?)

Is this some kind of bullShiT from internet or what?
Also it is assumed that the beautiful helen of troy was blonde but if blonde hair did not exist how could she be blonde?:pp

Answer
I'm not sure about the blue-eye connection, but recent research has suggested Neanderthal people had red hair too.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7062415.stm

Of course some red-heads have brown eyes, like my cousins ! So whether that's an indication of blue-eyes I'm not so sure. They and blond hair probably evolved after people had been living in cold climates for a long time, i.e. after the ice-ages or in the north of Europe, where they needed to extract as much from the sun as possible. The last ice-age was ages ago, so I would expect these features to be pretty old now.

Possibly but I doubt it since Queen Elizabeth the First was a redhead.

How to dye brown hair red without bleach?

Draco

Okay, I have never dyed my hair before, and I'm early 20yrs old. I need some help.
I'm looking to dye my hair (which is dark brown) red...like the red from the Black Widow in the Avengers movie. Is this possible without bleach?

And is there anything else I should know? I'm really new to this and yeah. xD My mom will dye it for me, she's dyed her own hair many times, so that part is taken care of. Any advice would be appreciated!

Also, does dyeing hair dry it out terribly? My hair is already sort of dried out...x.x So if anyone has any good shampoos or conditioners to recommend, I'd appreciate that as well. :P

Thank you! :)
*nearly, not early. xD

Answer
I've dyed my hair about 7 times so far and 2 times i went from brown to red :) the first time I got it done at a salon and they had to strip my hair ( which I wasn't happy about) and it came out a pretty nice red! The second time I did it because the color brown I dyed it to was not the color I expected so I just went to walmart and got a box dye. It came out fine and I didn't have to strip it, but all hair is different. I do all my friends hair and I've had to dye theirs a lighter brown and then dye it red. Hope that helped a little :)

do you think i would suit red hair or dark brown hair better?

passionfru

sorry, i cant post pics, but heres a description of me: i have really fair skin with pink undertones, baby blue eyes, and i'm quite thin. at the moment i have blonde hair and the style is a graduated bob with full bangs. my natural hair colour is dirty blonde, but i recently got blonde highlights. my mom has red hair and my dad has dark brown... so i'm wondering, should i go for a reddish colour (i was think like a soft auburn maybe) or a rich chocolate brown? or would i do better leaving my hair blonde? thanks!

Answer
If you dye your hair red it would very difficult to get it out later on or otherwise you gonna have to chop it off. If you are pale you can go for dark brown but I think it could make you look abit gothic. I'd leave you hair blonde. You are sooo lucky you hair is blonde. I want to gone blonde but I have to do all the crazy thing to get the right colour and than I was told my skin tone is wrong.
Stick with what you got I'm sure you are envy of numerous girls.
If you really want to go darker go caramel.

Will color oops lighten my hair?

asdfghjkl;

My hair is naturally light blonde but a bit over a year and I've been dying it dark brown and recently dark red. My roots are showing and I wanted to dye my hair red again although I wanted a more vibrant red but I didn't want to bleach my hair. I've watched some videos on YouTube and tired to research the product more but I haven't found anything too helpful. So basically I was wondering if the color oops would actually restore my hair back to light or dirty blonde? (or also maybe orange since I've dyed my hair red)

Answer
It would go orange, and your roots would be a different color. Vibrant Red is such a difficult color to do on yourself since it's easy to get hot roots. Make sure you formulate colors appropriately. Mixing a little neutral in your color for your new growth could help reduce chances of hot roots.

Naturally my hair is a medium brown. I had honey blonde highlights until recently (two days ago).. I colored my hair a chestnut brown. It was a level 2.. 28 wash dye.. so not permanet. It has a reddish tint that I don't really care for. So... I just went to Sally's an bought the ION permanent creme in medium brown. Will this work? How about coloring it two days after using a level 2 dye?? Any advice? Don't want any copper or red tones! Help! Thank you for all responses!! :))

Answer
Going dark to light WILL give you red, because that is the in between color from brown to blonde. If you want to eliminate the red, you must bleach first then dye. but not without the usual warnings and cautions of over processing your hair. As time goes by, you will not have to bleach the whole head, simply the roots.

Processing your whole head will ruin your hair. And doing this too often, while experimenting with color is going to damage your scalp, and cuticle. Caution and extreme conditioning, no heat or styling products should be used while you do this: find your color.

You should wait MINIMUM of 2 weeks before processing again. Sooner, you risk damage. Get into the habit of working ONLY the roots. Cellophane and clear tape off the rest of your hair so you don't get bleach on it. Bleach will remove it. Loreal's Super Blonde had three shades of blonde to take you from brown to blonde with no red tones. If you let the mixture get dry on your head, it won't color without going red. If you sweat, it won't bleach without red. If you take it off too soon, it will be red.

Taking yourself to a salon when you FIRST want to try a big change is ALWAYS best, so you don't over process. They will do it once, right, and the first time. without damaging your hair. You'll end up spending 60 bucks on chemicals, anyway. And then NOT be happy with the color.

The salon will do it for that much and get it right, in the beginning!

Then, you can simply do the touch ups your self at home, roots only and keep the perfect color.

P.s.. WATCH how they do it, so you can learn and ask how to prevent banding when you touch up the roots. They will be awesome and show you! Oh.. dont tell them you won't be back, either! heheh

xElizabethx

P.s... treat your hair to a nice luxurious olive oil hot oil treatment.. you poor hair would love you!

My hair colour?

I have pure black hair and i want to hightlight them... which colour will do except brown shades

Answer
Is your hair naturally black or colored black? Deep reds can work on this dark of hair. If you are trying to be subtle at all do not even think about bleach. A colorist can really help guide you and talk to you about options. Best of luck.

Answer
Overlapping dye onto previously colored hair is what creates dullness and dryness. If you color your hair @ home or salon, let your roots grow out as long as you can stand, so the line of demarcation is easier to spot. Only run color through the lengths for five minutes to refresh the ends. To extend the time between touch-ups, use a gloss and deep -conditioning treatments. They will help smooth cuticles roughed up by daily wear & tear, and the hair will look shinier. ~ Harry Josh, hairstylist of the celebrities.

Celebrity wears two-tone hair dye all the time, trying to grow out their dye. They call that the ombre style.

What makes Sims 3 better than Sims 2?

Entities

Answer
Well, you can create and customize the sims in the sims 3 any way you want. For example my sims have red skin, black eyes, pink hair, and all of their outfits have soccer balls covered in them. Plus, I can make all of my furniture camo instead of the sims 2 where all I can get the camo stuff only if it comes like that. Also, you can make sims actually look like real people, plus they have moodlets. Moodlets have stuff that says "mourning because of wittenssing death." - 50 mood or first romance "because of socialization + 50 mood which all of them very much effect their mood. You can also have stuff like favorites such as favorite color, which when you age up you are most likely to wear that color, favorite foods, which you are the most happy eating and make the best and favorite style of music which puts your sim in the best mood while listening and automaticcally turns on when your sim turns on the stereo. You also have traits like unflirty which makes your sims hate to flirt or natural cook which makes them a cooking master. In the sims 2, all you have to choose from is nice, mean, playful, serious, neat, sloppy, lazy, active, outgoing, and shy, while the sims 2 has over 50 traits to choose from. In summary, the sims 3 is a totally customizeable game and is based on true real life. I love playing this game and so does everybody else that I know. :)

how do the genetics work in the sims 3?

The father sim had red hair and the mother had brown with reddish tones, their daughter turned out to have the blackest of black hair. There are no grandparents, why did this happen?
in another family, the same thing happened except all 3 sons had blond hair, this time the grandmother had blond hair.

can anyone explain to me if they know why my children are having 'out there' hair colors?

Sims 3 genetics are weird.

Any help with red hair dye?

My hair is a really dark brown, almost black from hair dye, but my natural colour is not much lighter than this. Ive had red hair before but only a tint of red. This time i want to go redder. Like emilys of skins. If noones seen hers, just search her in google images.

I was wandering if anyone knew of any dyes i could use. I was thinking of the Live XXL Red passion, but thought it may be to bright or fade quickly to a gingery colour. I have also heard that even after washing a couple of times, when it hits water or rain it runs easily and also when touching other fabrics.

I was wandering if all this was a myth and if i should just go for it, or if anyone knew any other dyes which would give me Emily's hair colour without the extra hassle.

Thanks.

my natural hair color was dirty blonde/light brown and i've dye it black before and once it faded to brown i dyed it a deep auburn. my brown roots started coming in so now i want to dye it back to light brown. I got golden brown hair dye but it only dyed my roots and didnt really change the red at all. My friend said i need to lighten it first but I WILL NOT USE BLEACH! so how will i lighten it? Will a toner work?

Answer
When you put hair dye on your hair, you can't lighten them up by adding another layer of hair dye over it. That's like adding another layer of crayola color on top of another. That will only take longer to get back to your 'natural' roots. It doesn't work that way! Style meets chemistry meets biology: We're talking hair coloring.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.

Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

Google: Teen 'feared she would die' after reaction to hair dye
The allergic reaction was caused by a well-known brand of semi-permanent hair dye Chloe used to turn her hair black for a Halloweâen party. . . . . called for beauty bosses to ban hair dye chemical PPD (para-phenylenediamine) from the shelves. 11-04-11

You can do one of two things, to remove most of that dye.
1. By using Tide detergent with shampoo
Google "How to Remove Dye from Hair"

or

2. By shampooing you hair mix with a bit of Dawn.
Google "How to Use Dawn Dishwashing Liquid for Lightening Hair."

Here's an example what hair stripping will do to your hair.
It is worst than hair dyes, one from YA! "I accidentally dyed my hair this awful black, stripped it, and now it is this crunchy crispy mess!"

Hair strippers are chemical treatments which are intended to strip out artificial color pigment with less risk or damage to the hair. The chemicals used are called reducing agents.
Certain 'metal' strippers containing sodium sulphoites are sold for reducing hair dyed with metallic dyes, as these dyes react violently with tint stripper containing hydrogen peroxide-the subsequent reaction may cause so much heat that the hair gets dissolved.
Example: So i just put Colour B4 on my hair to try and remove my black dye so my hair it's natural colour which is dark blonde. so i've just dried my hair and there's still dark patches on it. and in some places it's gone ginger. i have garnier pre lightener. should i use it? there's no way my hair could look worse than it is now lol.
Another example:
Can you imagine this being done on YOU? Ex. of one:
"Sooo i do hair, i should know these things! I made a major OOPS in my hair color today. I picked a color close to my natural (as i had it lighter than natural before), I had dye it that color and it turned a magenta color; terrible!! So i washed and washed and washed with head and shoulders, worked but took about two

Shall I dye my hair red?

DizzyPeach

Okay, so my natural hair colour is a very very light brown, and some people call me blonde. I dyed it about 7 months ago a slightly red, a bit darker brown. Then about 3 months ago I dyed it fully black. Now, it's a dark brown, with red in the sunlight. But I bought a packet (or whatever it is) of red hair dye (REALLY red, kinda hooker red) and I was wondering weather I should use it. I'm VERY pale, I have blue/grey eyes, and my features are very bold. I would like to make more of an impact than just having 'brown' hair.
Thanks in advance >.<
x

Answer
Haha, "hooker red."

I don't think it would look bad. Red is a nice colour, even if it's the artificial type.

I reckon it would suit your eyes and your pale skin. I have pale skin and I dyed my hair 3 times like this lady, "Dayna Delux" that red and it looked fine. But I have dark eyes.

Make sure you strip the colour out of your hair first, otherwise it won't work properly, and it's good to choose red due to your natural hair colour but the maintenance is high when it comes to red hair, so good luck, :)

Should I color my hair red?

Q. I'm thinking about coloring my hair like a Haliey Williams cherry red because I want to color my hair a fun color, but I don't know if I should because I have soft black colored hair and I have an olive skin tone and I have freckles splashed across my nose but people can't really see them in the winter.
I have dark chocolate brown colored eyes.
I meant hayley Williams.

Answer
Red is a really hard color to pull off but if you really want to do it get it done professionally please. There are two types of red hot red(orange-red) and cool red(blue/purple red) and hot red looks like clown hair on people with olive skin tones. All of the colors Hayley has in her hair are hot red colors and would clash terribly with your skin tone, she has pink toned skin so it looks fine on her. Like I said red is a really hard color to get right, so please have a professional do it for you.

Also because you have black hair they'll have to lift quite a bit of color to get your hair close to what she has, they'll probably have to do it over a period of a few days, just keep that in mind. Walk into the salon you choose before you get it done with a picture of Hayley how you like is as ask what the actual colorist thinks would be do able for your hair, the prices, time it would take, how much maintenance and up keep it will take, etc.

Hope this helps.

Improvements for Dynasty Warriors 8?

David

I think it's likely they will make a Dynasty Warriors 8. Here's what i think should be done with the game:

1) They should stop using Shu, more specifically, Zhao Yun as the cover boy or whatever. He is always on the trailers and on the cover and it's ridiculous. They make him out to be more important than he is.

2) They should allow players to be the commander in a battle. I hate that when I play Sun Jian's forces or Lu Bu's forces or whoevers forces, I pick the commander or the guy who would be commander if I were to play as another character. However, I pick him and he isn't the commander but some other officer is.

3) Make commanders stronger. I hate that every time I play, the commander is like super weak and always needs help but the enemy commander is super strong.

4) They should bring back bodyguards or something similar. I remember they had that in Dynasty Warriors 4 but it was rather stupid. I think they should just make like a rank system and the higher the rank the better the bodyguards. Like you can have bodyguards and as you rank up you have you're own lieutenants or sub officers to command so that you don't have to go all the way across the map every time something goes wrong.

5) Bring back dueling. It was awesome when some officers would challenge me to duels but it was stupid how the duel took place inside some arena. i think they should just do what they did in Dynasty Warriors 6 and have soldiers form a circle but a bigger circle so there's more room. Plus, the soldiers should stay out of it.

6) Bring back the individual story modes and free mode. I hated having to play as certain characters in DW7. also they should make the stories longer because those 5 or 6 battles don't take too long. It should be like Dynasty Warriors 5. Also, Conquest Mode was garbage. They need free mode back.

7) Online. DW7 online is completely pointless. They need to make it better. They shouldn't have player vs. player because Dynasty Warriors isn't good for that but it should be just like free mode. Players vs. CPU's. They should make the battles extra hard though because it would be boring to play with other players if the battles are so easy to win. they should make you think more strategically. Also it shouldn't be part of the story. They should just make up some random force as the enemy so that way players can choose the characters they want to play as instead of being forced to be only characters from She, Wei, Wu, Jin, or other.

8) Bring more importance to other forces. Yellow Turbans no longer have any real purpose in the game. The only playable character is Zhang Jiao and the only battle is Yellow Turban Rebellion. They need to make more Nanman battles and have more playable characters from other forces.

9) Horse and weapons. They need to change the Red Hare back to the way it use to look because the horse with flames for hair looks ridiculous. Players should have to complete certain missions on story mode to earn horses. second, all characters should have their own unique weapons insteado f that stupid garbage from DW7. The upgrades should be similar to DW4 or DW5. Some officers should have unlockable weapons.

10) No secondary weapons, at least not the way it was in DW7. It made no sense to pull out a large weapon from out of nowhere. I think they should allow players to use other weapons though like daggers, spears, bow & arrows, etc. Players should be allowed to pick them up during battle if other officers drop them.

Well that's not all but some of the things I think should be done. What do you think? or what do you think they should do for DW8?

Answer
Bring body guards back like the one in No. 3. also let you station you generals were you want on the map.

Top Cities/Destinations to visit in China?

Will

I am a college student majoring in Finance that will be studying abroad in Tianjin, China. Our trips include visits to Shanghai, Beijing, and local visits around Tianjin. However, we are allotted two weekends (3-4 days a piece) to choose a destination to travel to independently. I was wondering what interesting places around China are worth seeing (even the minute things that most overlook). I want to visit a large scale metropolitan area as well as set time aside for a very peaceful rural experience. Please keep in mind that my entire travel centers around a length of 3-4 days with a commute from Tianjin, China. Thanks!

China is a vast and extraordinary country spanning thousands of miles from the deserts in the west to the ocean on the east. Culturally, China has one of the most rich and textured histories of all civilizations that encompasses over 5,000 years. This is rich stuff for a traveler.
1. The Forbidden City

The Forbidden City, or Palace Museum, sits at the center of Beijing, directly north of Tiananmen Square where the famous portrait of Mao Zedong hangs on the palatial crimson wall. It was the imperial seat for Ming and Qing dynasty emperors from 1420 until 1912 when the last emperor, Pu Yi, abdicated. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

red underneath my black hair ?

Pixie Dust

i have naturally jet black hair its long and has many layers ...i was thinking of dyeing it red underneath not shocking red but red ...

will it look nice & do i have to bleach the bottom ?

im doing it myself :) x

Answer
yes, it will look nice
but you will probably have to bleach it a little bit & then apply the red to it.

Good luck !! =]

Has anyone tried to dye hair two colors, black on top and red underneath?

M C

my daughter wants me to color her hair but in two colors any advice, I am thinking to separate the hair on top color black then the back underneath section red. should i do it all at once or do the black then the red or vice-versa?

Answer
1.The first thing to do is make sure that black is the color of choice. Many people do it and hate it and it is really hard to lighten it back up. Look at some pictures and determine if maybe you could try a dark brown first.
2. Does your daughter have any color on her hair now? If so I would recommend seeing a professional. It may be simple enough for you to do, but without seeing her, I can't really say.
If she doesn't.......
3. Start by sectioning the top from the bottom in a zig zag pattern. If she wants the red underneath in the front, start at the temple zagging down carving v's into the hair until you reach the other temple. If she just wants it in the back, start behind the ear zagging up carving v's until you reach the other ear. The zig zag pattern will look totally pro and your daughter will love it!
4. Apply the red first. Red fades fast and needs the most time to process. Cover it with some foil or plastic wrap and secure with clips.
5. Apply the black (or brown).
6. Don't worry about getting it together when rinsing.
Good luck!

Answer
If you want something subtle, I would suggest the caramel highlights since your hair already has some natural caramel coloring.
But if you want something more "Pow!", I'd say go for the red.

My pick is red highlights

hair color and highlights?

xoxsparkso

i have medium-dark brown hair, light brown eyes, and fair skin (which gets a golden glow in the summer). i want to either get highlights or dye my hair a completely different color and i can't decide what to do so please tell me which you think would look better:
1) caramel blonde highlights
2) red highlights
3) dye hair auburn
4) dye hair light brown and highlight
5) dye hair blonde completely
oh yea, and i recently cut my hair into a bob (but i plan on growing it out again), so idk if that makes any difference or not.

Answer
It depends on what color brown your eyes are. Do they have golden flecks in them, or are they a more neutral brown? With your golden skin tone in the summer, I don't like the idea of red or auburn in your hair. As a stylist we usually do more neutral colors in the spring and summer and more golden or red colors in the fall and winter to complement the lighter skin tones you get then. I would leave your natural color alone and just put some caramel highlights throughought with a neutral tint. Some people consider caramel to have a reddish tint. I don't. It will be cheaper and there will be less maintenance to just put highlights in your hair instead of changing the entire color. Hope this helps!

How do I get a deep red burgundy hair color?

Hermionie

I have deep brown/black hair, nearly exactly like kim karashian's old hair. I have already bleached my hair once before. I'm going to use a mixture of L'oreal hicolor hilights in red and magenta. I have long, but thin hair, so im guessing 1-2 tubes are enough. My school has a very strict dress code on hair, so im trying to make it look more natural, but still true to color. The hair coloring kit im using recommends a 30 developer, but i dont know if i should get a 10 or 20 because i don't want to over do it. How long should i leave in the color to achieve the look i want? What level developer should i use? I want the color like the picture shown, but a bit moe muted and natural.

Answer
Burgundy hair usually refers to red, black or brown hair with purple tones. Luckily, this is an easy shade to achieve if your hair is dark, and most hair colors are not as easy to achieve on dark hair.

If your hair is blonde, you run the risk of dying your hair burgundy and winding up with light purple hair--which nobody wants. Blondes should dye their hair a true red color (like Garnier Nutrient 66 True Red (Pomegranate) or a neutral brown color (depending on how vibrant they want the burgundy to be) before using the burgundy shade. This is mostly in reference to light blondes--if your hair is dark blonde, it should be easier. However, some beauty supply stores do carry a blonde burgundy shade. One brand I know of is Ion. They have a color called "burgundy blonde". It's a really nice blonde with red/violet undertones.
If your hair is extremely dark, and previously dyed, burgundy will not be as simple as 1, 2, 3. Instead, you are going to need a very vibrant dye in order to get a good result. A burgundy from a drugstore might show up as a very dark brown on you. If you want a vibrant burgundy, use a purple or reddish-purple shade from Manic Panic. I know it sounds crazy, but since it's demi-permanent, it will wash out eventually, and it will give you a much more vibrant outcome than anything off the shelf. Do not bleach your hair first, unless you're only bleaching it to the red level. If you bleach it too light, then you wind up running the risk of being blonde, and then winding up with light purple hair when you dye it burgundy.
If your hair is light brown to medium brown and dyed, or light brown to black and natural- You are in luck. It is very easy for you to go burgundy! Just use one of the shades below. You can aim for a lighter burgundy, or a deep black-burgundy.

Would this hair color look good on me?

Jeanna

I'm currently blonde. And I'm bored with it. Decided I wanted to go back dark.
So I was thinking a redish brown color, sorta like this :
http://www.zimbio.com/Nicole+Polizzi/articles/ZwbM99UNhUm/Hot+Not+Snooki+New+Raspberry+Red+Hair+Color
The dye I'd be using is "medium burgandy brown" by ion, it's almost exact to hers, but a little less red.

Here's a picture of me:
http://i49.tinypic.com/5oaycm.jpg

Anyways, would it look alright on me?
Or any suggestions for other colors? I'm open to anything at the moment (:

How to: Healthy hair & Teeth?

Peace Love

Ok, so I'm worried about my hair and teeth not looking nice or healthy, so, let me explain...

First- teeth, whenever I go to the dentist I get told I eat too many sweets (I can't help it- I'm a sweetooth), and I'm scared incase my teeth fall out or begin to turn yellow. My gums are slighty red- I brush my teeth once or twice a day- I use an Oral B- triumph brush. Is there anyway to make my teeth healthy/healthy looking?

Second- Hair
My hair is so damaged as I use heat on it almost everyday- I have bad splitends and my hair doesn't have a shine to it anymore. Is there any products to make my hair healthier? I have thick hair so thinning isn't the problem- I was thinking of using olive oil- I heard its a great deep conditioner also, my hair isn't tangly so again, that isn't the problem. Any suggestions? AND NOTHING STUPID LIKE ''Don't use heat'' bla bla, My hair is thick so it flicks up at the ends... I have to use heat or it looks horrible- also I use a protection.

SO basically..
Hints for healthy teeth and gums?
Hints for healthy hair?
Product suggestions for hair?

MUCH APPRECIATED,
Emilyxxxx

Answer
Teeth: no matter how much you brush, or what brand toothbrush or toothpaste, FLOSSING will improve your gum & make your teeth healthier. Use Ultra Sonic toothbrush also, for best coverage.
Brush for 5 mins. if using hand brush.
http://www.sonicare.com/professional/dp/DP/Default.aspx

Hair: Even healthy hair like mine get split ends, due to normal hair brushing & styling. Hair protectant doesn't protect hair 100%. Like sunscreen, you still get sunburned. Same with hair, as you've already experienced. Spend 5-10 mins. trimming your hair strand per strand, section by section when the sun is shinning so you'll understand how the hair is split in several places, and not always at the end, even somewhere in the middle. Do it yourself trim, is the best. Use a 2" folding shears for trimming. Allowing healthier hair to take over. Then 2x a year, get a good trim.

YOU DON'T have to use heat to get healthy, shiny, soft, silky hair. Using protection doesn't protect hair 100%. Like sunscreen you still get sunburned. Same with hair. You don't need products other than shampoo & conditioner. I'm guessing your hair is curly, reason why you straighten it, set them in plastic curlers, and blow dry, then take them out & finger comb. Many people have your type of hair, but they are healthy, shiny, soft, & sexy!
The rest you get from your good genes, and from all the healthy foods you eat from Mother Nature. I love sweets too, but I eat 3-5 servings for fresh fruits & vegetables, that should take care of 80% of your hair care right there!

When will my hair stop falling out?

Emily

My hair has been falling out for about three months now. It was falling out pretty badly for the first two months andi n the last month it has slowed a little. I'm almost sure that the cause of my hair loss was from an eating disorder, and in that case, how long will it take for my hair to stop falling out? I've been recovering from the eating disorder for a few months now and making sure I'm eating a lot more, but could someone please help me out a little. Also after it stop falling out, about how long will it take to get all my hair back? Any tips or suggestions are welcome too :) Thanks!

Answer
Diet is very important for healthy hair, skin, teeth & nails and the hair is the first place where sign that your system had gone wrong. In addition if you've been experimenting with hair dyes, hair straightening, taking supplements, having babies (yes I read once it happened to her), stress, medications with testosterone, certain antidepressants, menopause, anti-acne can also trigger hair loss.

HOW LONG? It took days, or months to get in your system, the shock could take months even up to years to get back to normal.

Continue taking good care of yourself, avoid all the causes listed above, and your hair will go back to normal before you know. Only time will tell, and I can't predict that for you.

Fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains all supply B-complex vitamins, like biotin, folic acid and vitamin B12, as well as vitamin A, copper and zinc, which are all necessary for remedying dry, brittle hair and nourishing a healthy scalp. Some prime examples of foods that contain these nutrients for healthy hair include:
·                     Folic Acid - asparagus, beets, broccoli, avocados, Brussels sprouts, beans, chickpeas, soybeans, lentils, oranges, fresh peas, turkey and spinach.
·                     Biotin - cauliflower, liver, salmon, carrots, bananas, cereals, yeast, and soy flour. Keep in mind that biotin content is reduced when food is cooked or preserved.
·                     Vitamin B12 - foods rich in vitamin B12 include animal protein (such as beef, lamb, and veal), clams and oysters, liver, fish, milk, and egg yolks.
·                     Vitamin A - butter, egg yolks, fish, fortified milk, organ meats (such as
liver), and dark green, orange, red, and yellow fruits and vegetables, which all
contain beta-carotene.
. Copper - oysters and other shellfish, whole grains, beans, nuts, potatoes and organ meats are good sources of copper. Dark leafy greens, dried fruits such
as prunes, cocoa, black pepper, and yeast are also sources of copper in the diet.
â¢Â  Zinc â beef, eggs, liver, pork, poultry, and oysters. Also is also abundant in other high-protein foods, like cheese, legumes and nuts.
If having a lush, beautiful mane of healthy hair is important to you, donât just look to hot oil treatments and shine emollients. Eat these foods for healthy hair and say âbye-byeâ to bad hair days.

Cute color, but go get a auburn hair color, and while it fades it will be more and more that color. But try to get the red out first with color remover because you cant put color on color so it wont do a thing.

Red lipstick?

O->--<

Any tips on buying a dark red lipstick. Any color I choose always ends up looking hot pinkish. I've got brown hair and blue eyes with an ivory complexion (with a fading tan). I don't want to look like a hooker, just want to try out a nice red color.

Answer
With an ivory complexion, brownish-red lipstick would look more like a clay on your lips. Without knowing your undertones though, it's hard to say. Try using a 'clear' red like Certainly Red by Revlon (if they still make it, not sure) or a a 'blue-red' which is more of a deep blood red color.

Also, maybe it's the brand you're using. Red lipstick shouldn't turn out looking like hot pink unless you're using a sheer color and not realizing it. Try a matte or cream-based lipstick.

Brown does NOT compliment an ivory skin tone. First of all, it depends on undertones. You need to determine that first. Sometimes brownish colors do compliment ivory, but not often. Most times, it just looks like mud and can actually make you look older than you may want to.

What colour lipstick can I wear with red hair?

Cupcake

Its a sort of bright, vibrant red with mahogony tones. Can I get away with a coloured lipstick or am I better off going nude(ha)?

Answer
it depends on what shade of red your hair is. If your hair is a more darker red color, than some lipsticks colors that would look good on you would probably be any nude colors, light pinks (not bright crazy pinks), rustic colors (like in orange family), and and reds b/c red looks good on everybody. If you have a more lighter red hair color, than use colors like soft pinks, plums, browns, nude colors, creamy looking lip gloss, reds, and mauves. But no matter what shade of red hair you have, nude colors, reds, and any lip gloss that doesn't have too much color in it usually looks good on any red head.

I have soft black eyebrows but I want to dye my hair red?

Carly

would this look terrible? Naturally, my hair is a medium brown. I think my skin and eye color would look good with a red color but I'm not so sure about my dark eyebrows.

Like that color red.

Answer
You should go into a professional and ask. Usually with red hair, you have dark brown red eye brows, or incredibly light red ones.

And that's a really pretty shade of red. I think itll look amazing<3

I want a bright red hair color?

Rachel

About 6 weeks ago I had my hair dyed dark brown with red tints. I had the bottom half of my hair (aka an undercolor) dyed medium red. As you can imagine if you've dealt with red dye, the red is very dull and almost orange. The darker brown with red tint has faded quite a bit. My roots have grown in a little over 1/4 of an inch.
I want to dye my hair a bright red all over. I have chosen the products I want to use on my hair. I will be mixing a 30 volume developer in with a red creme. I was thinking of just using a red manic panic on the bottom half of my hair, while using the other products on the top half.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I know getting it done professionally would be the best option, but I'd rather do this myself as it will have an up-keep I would rather maintain myself. Thank you.

Answer
One of my fave YouTubers, Sarah, aka 'All Dolled Up', was a bright, vivid redhead for 4 years. Highly recommend her video tutorials (many re: maintaining the perfect bright red colour). Her #1 preference for hair colour is Special Effects-- all vegetable, densely pigmented dye(s) that last the longest and is the brightest red colour. The key to awesome bright red hair is to never just use one colour. Use a combo of two or three and add lowlights and highlights to spruce it up.

A combination of Special Effects 2 parts Nuclear Red and 1 part Cherry Bomb is the perfect, bright red combination. Your Manic Panic selection(s) will be awesome, too. The secret to really deep, non-fading, bright & pure red colour is to sleep with the dye on the hair and rinse the following a.m. Apply the dye, wrap with cling wrap and leave it on all night. Don't condition the hair first.. only shampoo. Adding about 1/8 ounce of hair colour to shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in conditioner will help to maintain colour.

Revlon Nutricolour styling and protective cream to maintain red hair is the BEST:

Manic Panic Vampire Red, Vampire's Kiss, Pillbox Red and Infra-Red are all great colours (very deep and rich..like Red Velvet cake)

Your plan bright red hair colour plan sounds good. It also sounds as if you already have everything under control. Sleeping in the dye with cling-wrap, and including a little of the hair colour in your shampoo, conditioner and leave-in conditioner will help maintain your colour.

I added a bunch of links for 'All Dolled Up' but she has so many vids that it was difficult to include just a handful. Hopefully these will help:

Like that, sorry long link =]

1. Do I need to bleach it for it to get that dark colour?
2. What dye should i use/go to hairdressers?
3. Will that colour be okay for a 13yo and for school??

Answer
hi, i died my hair red and i regret it so much, it is the hardest colour to get out of your hair. I have put so many coats of brown on my hair to get it back to brown and its just gone a blacky browny red:( the only way to get it out is to strip it which totally destroys your hair! makes it feel like straw so i don't want to do that:L so i would advise not to but if you have your heart set then:
no bleach needed
HAIRDRESSERS
and yh i am 15 and its fine:)

Q. I know a lot of girls have asked this question but everyone is diffrent so i cant take one girls answer when she doesnt look like me. I have blue green eyes and my hair is naturally dirty blonde. i have died my hair since i was 14. right now my hair is dark dark brown with red streaks (although thats not the color in the picture) but i want the color of Ariana Grande

my mom says that she tried going red but it made her blemishes stick out and looked washed out and horrible on her and i want to know if it would look good with mine this is the most recent picture of me (like i said its not my natural hair color but yeah)

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=712358820&aid=220580#!/photo.php?fbid=10150113068748821&set=a.429364238820.220580.712358820&theater

please let me know if i would look good with that hair color and if not if i would look with any kind of red hair color? please and thank you sooooo much!!
i personally think the rule of thumb never go more than 3-4 shades is wrong for some people. when i was little i was a toe head. i had platinum blonde hair like seriously and as i grew up my hair got darker but it was still blonde like i said my hair is naturally dirty blonde. yet i have dyed my hair the darkest shade you can get without going black (like the next shade up was black) and everyone that has known me has told me they like me better with darker hair than they did with blonde hair. and i know for a fact that my hair color now is prob like 8-9 shades darker than my natural and i look better than i did when i was younger so i know for a fact that the 3-4 shade thing is void for my case.

Answer
Red hair is cute. If you want a more temporary look just to make sure there are a few things you can try out. Manic panic hair dye is temporary and washes out in about a month. Lots of colors and you won't have to worry about re-dying the roots. Plus if you don't like it it will wash out soon. You can also mix colors to get a variety of colors so that would be fun to try out. There is also CosplayDNA if you don't want to do any thing to your hair. Its a wig that looks natural and you can do what ever just like real hair. You can use any kind of chemical treatment on it and it can be any length you want. Also using flat irons and curlers are ok for this kind of wig since its heat resistant too. If you have one of those you can change your hair as much as you want and take it off if you don't like it. Any ways I've blabbed long enough....links :D

(DNA Cosplay)

http://stores.ebay.com/CosplayDNA-Wigs-for-Cosplay

(Manic Panic)

Can be bought at Sally's Hair and Beauty Supply Store or online places like Amazon, Google, ect.
(You can get it for about $8 as a good price some charge more like around $15 just cause they want to rip ppl off so I wouldn't buy from them)

does red hair make your teeth look yellow?

helpxme?

so i want to dye my hair red but i have braces and i'm always self concious of my teeth and i think they are really yellow, but if i dye my hair like http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lc9ckm1OYG1qcpmtzo1_500.jpg this color, will it make them look yellow?

Answer
on the contrary. Red makes your teeth look more bright, it's because of the blue tone in red colours.

Red will make your teeth look brighter , even if they are a bit dingy.

I had braces too, and I always dyed my hair that same red colour. My teeth always looked bright. Same thing with red lipstick: makes your teeth look brighter!

BTW --- that is a GORGEOUS shade of red, and beautiful cut too!

Does anybody know what's the best jam for wavy hair ?

Larin B

Im trying to get waves in my long nappy hair

Answer
If you are talking about black mens' 360 waves let me first let you know that jams, greases and pomades do not develop waves. Brushing a lot does. Greases, pomades, etc. just make your waves more visible by laying your hair down and making them look better. Since you have nappy hair here are the pomades that I recommend....
shorter hair: "Sportin Waves" (in a black can usually be found just about anywhere but family dollar is guaranteed to have it)

medium length hair:"Sportin Waves"(in a gold can also found just about anywhere)

longer hair: "Dax"(in a red can found in a lot of places but walmart is guaranteed to carry it)

Make sure you always keep your hair clean and moisturized. The moisturizing grease that I use is Indian Hemp by Softee. You can find this just about anywhere and it only cost $1.

If you want to know how to get waves just go to http://360waves.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=3875

There they have product reviews and waving info. Yo can also set up posts to ask more experienced wavers questions what kind of products they use.

what is the best wave kit to get 360 waves in your hair?

Q.

Answer
If you are talking about a textureizing kit the best that I can think of is an s-curl kit at family dollar or just about any other store in the health care section. Be sure to not leave the cream in your hair for too long. If you do it will just make your hair to straight and possibly mess up your hair. The texturizeing kits only give you waves for about a week. My suggestion is that you spend the time to get natural permanent waves. A wave is a weighed down curl so the only way to develope real waves is by brushing ALOT. Start at the crown and work your way outwards towards the hairline. It will take a couple of weeks before you see any results and a few months before your spinnin. Here are some pomades that I reccomend:
shorter hair: "Sportin Waves" (in a black can usually be found just about anywhere but family dollar is guaranteed to have it)

medium length hair:"Sportin Waves"(in a gold can also found just about anywhere)

longer hair: "Dax"(in a red can found in a lot of places but walmart is guaranteed to carry it)

The only thing that pomades do is weigh your hair down to make your waves more visible and neat looking. You should also moisturize your hair alot.
