Describing Red/Ginger hair?

Victoria S

i need to describe my characters hair for my english class, and she is supposed to have beautiful long ginger hair, but whenever i think or say the word ginger, i dont know but i dont like the word.
Whats a good way of describing someones hair colour but not using the word Ginger?

thankyouu :)) xxx
OMG WOW A THERSAURUS!! I NEVER HEARD OF THAT!!!
how dumb do you think i am? moron.
no need to be so rude !! geezz

Answer
I'm a natural ginger, and I hate the word!
Well, there's the obvious, like redhead, or you can really think about the shade of red your character is. If she has light red hair, then strawberry blonde would be best. If it is darker and more on the side of brownish, then use auburn, or if even darker then bronze. Bronze has a slight golden tinge to it. If you are looking to be unique, then definitely use Titian. Titian was a painter who depicted redhead women. Another way to describe ginger hair using art is Pre-Raphaelite, which was a group of artists who painted only red haired women in the 19th Century. Flaming, fiery red hair are also words to describe ginger hair. If you're thinking of your character with slightly unnatural ginger hair, so dyed a little redder than usual then berry coloured, or dark berry coloured, is perfect, or scarlet if particularly bright. Copper is another obvious one to describe less orangey redheads, or rusty.
Maybe cinnamon, copper red. Red hair glows in the sunlight, so think of beautiful metaphors to describe that, such as auburn hair that seemed to glow like a halo in the late afternoon sun.
You can also think of how to describe how the hair hangs, or what texture it is. Most redheads have very thick hair, so instead of just using the word hair, use words like locks, or tresses, or even dreads.
You can even use the name of your character to describe its hair colour. Here are a few names which mean redhead;
Read, Reed, Derry, Reid, Rhys, Red, Pirro, Russell, Rusti or Rusty, Scarlett or Scarlet.
Hope this helped

what is hair mascera?

mrinal

Answer
Colour effects to hair, Mascaro' was used in the 19th century by both sexes to cover the few gray strands & the technique has enjoyed a comeback in the 21st century. Now different brands are available in the marke Hair. It comes in a clear plastic mascara tube gorgeous colors: Champagne, Bronze, Copper, and Bordeaux. For example, if you are blonde, then try Champagne or Bronze. If you have brown hair, Bronze or Copper are recommended. If your hair is red, they also suggest trying the Bronze or Copper. If your hair is dark brown or black, then try Bordeaux, Copper or Bronze. I think you can try any combination of these colors and have a ball experimenting, no matter what your hair color. Some pretty exciting looks will come. You can brush the mascara on your hair wherever you like, and the large round brush makes a nice feathery effect on the hair. You can also load up the brush with color, then run it through your thumb and forefinger, pinch a small section of hair stroke the color up on the hair.

DYING RED HAIR!?!?!?!?

1. Do I need to bleach it for it to get that dark colour?
2. What dye should i use/go to hairdressers?
3. Will that colour be okay for a 13yo and for school??

Answer
hi, i died my hair red and i regret it so much, it is the hardest colour to get out of your hair. I have put so many coats of brown on my hair to get it back to brown and its just gone a blacky browny red:( the only way to get it out is to strip it which totally destroys your hair! makes it feel like straw so i don't want to do that:L so i would advise not to but if you have your heart set then:
no bleach needed
HAIRDRESSERS
and yh i am 15 and its fine:)

Hydrogen peroxide 3% on dark dyed red hair, will it make the hair lighter?

Angel Moon

I just dyed my hair yesterday red with a bit of brownish but it's a little too dark for me. I want it to be ~2 shades lighter. I've done some search and it seems like Hydrogen peroxide 3% can do the trick ( Ive read about honey and lemon too but those things seem like it would take more time and tries to lighten your hair so i choose Hydrogen peroxide).

I want to ask if
1. Will it work on ALREADY DYED RED HAIR and what color it will turn out? Cuz Ive read that black may turn into red but nowhere says anything about red turning into what
2. I JUST dyed my hair YESTERDAY. Would it be ok to use Hydrogen peroxide today?

Thanks!

Answer
I don't think you're going to get an appealing color if you use hydrogen peroxide. It can really damage your hair, and it might be lighter, but it'll probably strip a lot of the red out and be uneven and "orange-y"
Red fades really easily. I would say give it a few days before you think about using peroxide, because you may not need to.
Good luck!

What colour eyes are most common for people with red hair?

Q. In general, what colour eyes are the most common for a red haired person? I'm talking about in real life, not in the media. Thanks.

Answer
Blue, hazel, brown, green. My neice's husband is red haired and brown eyed. I knew a nun who had red hair and brown eyes. It isn't all that unusual. Too many people have stereotypes in mind.

Since green is the national color of Ireland, all too many people have a silly notion that Irish have red hair and green eyes. Often times romantic novelist leave that impression when they write about a pretty Irish lass with red hair and green eyes, just like a Christmas tree. Good Grief! I was born with red hair and blue eyes. Now my hair lightened up as I grew older.

What color make up goes with green eyes and red hair?

mxzptlk

I am a photographer, and my favorite model is my wife. She is a natural blonde, but of late I have been buyng her lots of new clothes, sexy stuff, that she loves dressing up in for me. She also started wearing wigs with the clothes I buy for her to wear when we can do a shoot. She has found this gorgeous long red wig that looks fantastic on her, but I don't know what color eyeshade and such she should wear to really make those beautiful green eyes stand out. Can anyone offer some suggestions?

Answer
Black or white eye shadow

Black and white, both are versatile colours that go well with just about any colour. Therefore, they will go well green eye colour also. These colours will also not clash with your red hair. So, you will assure a beautiful appearance without any mismatches.

You can go for black, white or any varying shades of these colours. For example, you can also select dark or light grey. It will also suit well and enhance your appearance.

Brown eye shadow

This is one other colour that suits your eye colour as well as your hair colour. It will clash neither with your green eyes nor with your red hair. It will all match perfectly and you can enjoy your beauty. It will simply blend in.

Although dark brown works just fine, you can go for a medium brown to enhance your look even more. However, you should avoid a very light shade of brown because it does not go so well with your flaming red hair.

Green eye shadow

This is the colour of your eyes. Your eyes complement your hair, and so your eye shadow will complement your hair, as well as your eyes. Although you might have heard that you should avoid wearing the same shade of eye shadow as your eyes, you can forget that rule as far as green is concerned. This is one colour that you can easily get away with doing this.

You can choose a shade lighter or darker than your eye colour. However, beware of going too light or too dark.

Colours to avoid

You should avoid eye shadow colours like pink, especially the bright and dark shades, blue and purple. Although purple goes well enough with green eyes, it tends to clash with the red hair. Therefore, it is best to avoid it.

How often should I wash/shampoo hair to keep the red in?

Kayla

I know red is the hardest to keep...but I'm hoping there's a way to get it to stay as long as possible..

I heard washing in cold water keeps color in better. And to shampoo only a few times a week.

I just need to clarify;
By wash do they mean wash AND shampoo in cold water?
Or is it okay to get my hair wet in warm water, as long as I only wash it in cold water?
And should I only condition when I shampoo? Or condition more often? And..when I condition should I use cold water as well?
..And, do dry shampoos work? Since I can't shampoo every day..do dry shampoos make hair look/feel non-oily?

Sorry, I am hair dumb! :) So many questions.

Answer
red hair is tricky but there are certain shampoos and conditioners made for that color, you can find at any retail store.Basically these products stain the hair with red which helps keep it looking radiant also you can use shampoos made for color hair which do not strip the hair as much.I suggest shampooing every other day or every third day exspecially in winter time, the dry air sucks the life out of hair, skin, and nails also condition every time. If you have fine hair and gets oily easy use a water based spray on cond. after shampooing,Coarse or drier hair use heavier cond.and leave on 3 to 5 min.s. As for the temperture of water I suggest warmer water for shampooing(it opens the cuticle)rinse with warm then put cond.on then rinse with cooler water(it closes cuticle trapping the cond.in where you need it) hope this helps

Dyed Red Hair Shampoo HELP!?

Kali

I just had my hair dyed red and everyone is telling me its going to fade badly. I was looking online for tips and have found quite a few. I was wondering can I still use my favorite shampoo the Olive Branch I'll list the ingredients.
* Vine Leaf Infusion (Vitis vinifera),
* Water (Aqua),
* Sodium Laureth Sulfate,
* Sodium Cocoamphoacetate,
* Fresh Mandarin Juice (Citrus nobilis),
* Fair Trade Olive Oil (Olea europaea),
* Perfume,
* Propylene Glycol,
* Bergamot Oil (Citrus bergamia),
* Lemon Oil (Citrus limonum),
* Orange Flower Absolute (Citrus Dulcis),
* Mandarin Oil (Citrus nobilis),
* Sea Salt (Sodium Chloride),
* Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides),
* *Benzyl Benzoate,
* *Limonene,
* *Linalool,
* Hydroxycitronellol,
* FD&C Red No. 4,
* Methylparaben.

Answer
Oh yes, red hair is the worst for fading.. i had red hair all winter changing different shades every 2 weeks since it kept fading (from bright fire red, auburn, to dark cherry) I was using the John Freida for red hair, which helped slightly but the best thing you can do is cut back shampooing as much as you can to 2-3 times a week(obviously you can shower, just tie up your hair) and buy a dry shampoo to keep it from looking greasy(tresseme makes 2 cheap ones that work well)

whats going to make it fade in the shampoo you have is the Sodium Laureth Sulfate... they make sulfate free shampoo's for coloured hair, you see them everywhere now(loreal has a nice one).. your shampoo will probably be fine though if you cut back washing your hair like i said!

good luck!, enjoy your new look!

reds such a sexy colour

P.S = just remembered something that helped me really well was a protein filler in a red shade (you can get it in sallys, i had to ddrive to the USA to get mine!) you can add it to your dye when you colour, or even your conditioner!

Help with super curly thick red hairstyles!?

GreyhoundR

I have super thick super curly red hair. Im going into the eighth grade so I want to change my look. Right now all I do is wear it in ponytails or buns. I was thinking about bangs but im not sure. My mom wont let my straighten my hair every day plus it takes 4 hours! She also wont let me chemically straighten. Its about an inch past my shoulders. I might also want to cut it short but im afraid it will afro. Any ideas? pics would help too!

Answer
You're going to love your hair when you are older!! So many women are jealous of girls with super thick hair - and to have natural curls is a plus. I love being a redhead but I didn't appreciate it until I got out of high school. I wanted to have long, blonde, sleek hair just like my friends.

I would not get bangs. If your hair is thick and curly, bangs will not sit right on your head. They will poof out and look very dated.

I would go for a long layered look -- a few shorter pieces around your face, but nothing shorter than chin length. I know this was a while ago but Debra Messing has thick, curly red hair, too. How about something like this:

http://fashionrules.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/debra-messing-picture-1.jpg

You might want to invest in a curling iron - use it to take big pieces of your hair and curl/smooth them out a bit. Also, look for some really good anti-frizz cream/spray that will help calm down your hair.

Don't cut it short -- You want it to be long so the weight of it will pull your curls down a bit and settle it down.

Do Japanese guys like girls with red hair?

Lizz K

I have heard that Japanese men like blondes but do they like girls with red hair? and why do Japanese guys like girls with light colored hair so much?

Answer
Japanese men like blonde, I think this is one of the wrong information. In Japan, almost 98% of the people are Japanese. In this less than 2% of the non-Japanese, roughly half of them are Asian (mainly Chinese and Korean ). Japanese and Asians do not have blond hair naturally. People dye their hair but most of them are brown or light brown. You may find blondes in TV, Anime or porno but it's not reality nor the people's preference in real life. Walk in the streets of Tokyo, you hardly find blonde. Some Japanese may love Caucasian features but I don't think it's because of hair color.

Brown or light brown have been a trend in Japan. However, it's just a trend and recently some cosmetic companies are making ads focusing on natural beauty of the Japanese black hair.
http://www.sanspo.com/geino/idol/ma/mori_izumi/image/061228gt20061228081_MDE00257G061227T.jpg

Everyone has different taste so Japanese guys may like red hair girls. However, probably it's not because of the color when he likes her.

I heard japanese can react strangely to those with red hair?i have auburn hair and blue eyes?im going soon?

Fiona

I am moving there for a year for work placement?I am a bit nervous and unsure of the culture? Will i stand out like a sore thumb?
Anyway to clarify...My concern is reaction to foreign women in geneal?Blondes also I guess?I have heard locals stare and touch your hair?I am on my own.I am a model so I have traveled a bit but this a whole new experience .Anybodys past experiences would be of enormous help...

Answer
Perhaps, Japanese reacted strangely and tried to touch your hair 50 YEARS AGO.

Now so many non-Japanese people are living in Japan and many Japanese go abroad, we know there are people whose hair is red, blond(e), brown, etc. Besides, there are many young Japanese who have dyed their hair brown, red or blond(e) !

I'm afraid there are a few people (mainly toddlers and elders?) who gaze at you especially in rural area.

But generally speaking Japanese are rather polite, so you don't need to be so nervous. Don't worry.

What colors look good with blue eyes?

poppincorn

i have brown hair and im looking for colors in general not eyeshadow

Answer
Choose winter white, soft blue reds, gray blues, taupes, soft rose browns, sky blues and blue greens if you have dark or medium brown hair, bright blue, bright green or grayish blue or green eyes, and pink undertones to your skin. Black may overpower your coloring, so choose it as a bottom color only.

BLUE BLACK OR AUBURN?

:)

I have a warm skin tone similar to Penelope Cruz, and my natural hair color is a dark brown with red undertones. In the sunlight it looks auburn. Should I go with what I usually dye my hair which is blue black, or go with a beautiful deep auburn? I just want a color that will compliment my skin and not make it look too sallow. The help is appreciated.

what my skin looks similar to: http://www.gossipcheck.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/penelope-cruz-picture-1.jpg

my natural hair color:http://gossipteen.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/demi-lovato-new-look-2.jpg

what my hair looks like in the sun: http://www.hairstylecity.com/Images/Products/Large/33W.jpg

the auburn color I want to dye it: http://www.mtv.com/content/ontv/vma/2008/photo/flipbooks/08-red-carpet/ashlee-simpson-82706984_getty.jpg

or

the blue-black color I want to dye it: http://www.hairstyles53.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/jessica-alba-hair-color-2.jpg

Thanks again for taking the time to answer :)

Answer
dye it blue black ! 100% sure
because your skin tone is on the warm side, putting a warm auburn color in your hair would wash you out. but when putting a cool dark color it will make your skin seem more vibrant and your features will pop :D

will it just darken my hair? and be fine, or will it do anything crazy like give me orange hair or soemthing like that? just want to check before i end up using it?

Answer
here is something to think about....
I am a colorist for a very very long time and have always been opposed to"box" hair color
and the reason for that is because I spent a career fixing the mistakes they make...not for any other reason - I SAW THE DISASTER they create
If 4 people walk into the store and each one of them has a different color hair ,,,,like you have brown, she has red, the other one has black ...etc...
HOW IN THE WORLD can that one box work for everyone?
I wonder which person the hair manufacturing company chose to put the proper ingredients in there for?
what if they put the ingredients for a redhead in there?
if they did. . . . YOU are screwed......aren't you?
I will be more than happy to tell you which 2 things to buy, Just email me....I always said I would like to get rid of all the bad hair in the country.....even if it takes one person at a time.
I need the answer to 3 questions and then I can tell you exactly what to purchase at your local beauty supply.

Keeping the red hair colour.?

mrmeaner

i have dyed my hair from reddish brown to bright red and the first few days its looked awesome, but everytime i wash it the colour lessens even though it was ment to be permenant.

is there anything i can do to keep the colour strong, any brands of colour shampoo that work really well? anything?
cheers.
x

Answer
I dyed my hair a bright red a few years ago, and used Kiwi Coloreflector shampoo and conditioner. It worked really well and kept the red bright for a long long time. http://www.hairexpo.biz/Shampoo/ARTec-Kiwi.html?id=CZvdcaq6 The shampoo is a little expensive, but also Loreal Color Vive is a good one that's cheaper. Try to wash your hair every other day and wash it separate from showering. Wash in luke warm water also to make the red last longer. If you got it professionally done, your stylist should have told you to wait 3 days before washing your hair to make sure the red saturates your hair and will stay longer. If not, at least you know for the future.

Can you go from red to pink hair easily?

Barbie

I have red hair and it's a little faded away and I wanna dye my hair pink. but I'm scared if it comes out like orange or something, cause' that happen to my friend. HELP PLEASE! and thanks, xo

Answer
It's 50/50 chance you have to take, there's never a guarantee when it comes to hair dyes.
Call the 1-800# found on the box of dye or email them, (to find #, go online & search the brand if you don't have the box) they're the hair color experts they can advice you best.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.
Example: "My hair is right about armpit length as it is, but I've severely damaged it by bleaching it all at once. As a student of cosmetology myself, I would have to say that it was probably one of the worst mistakes I could have ever made."
Another example: ok i did my hair yesterday i DIDN'T bleach it ,but im not sure what its called but she took the color out of my hair and then dies it a blond color and my head was on fire it killed me so after that i hated my hair color so i colored it my self a darker color, it looked so ugly and it burned me again it rully hrt so after i washed it my mom checked it for me and found small spots of blood all over my top scalp like over 20 of em now im scared and don't know why its there is it from the color am i sick and something is wrong ??

Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

Google: Teen 'feared she would die' after reaction to hair dye
The allergic reaction was caused by a well-known brand of semi-permanent hair dye Chloe used to turn her hair black for a Halloweâen party. . . . . called for beauty bosses to ban hair dye chemical PPD (para-phenylenediamine) from the shelves. 11-04-11

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. Itâs made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. Itâs well-known to be a cause of serious allergic reactions -- including something called contact dermatitis which can lead to rashes, blisters, and open sores.
PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. One bad reaction can lead to sensitivities to other products such as hair dye, sunblock and some types of clothing dyes. Oftentimes, it's using the product a second or third time.

Parents really hate my hair and its annoying me!?

Torres1234

My parents really hate my hair style now as they think i look a 'nob' in their words. My family are muslims and i don't follow the religion anymore cause i have different opinions but that isn't the case. Am growing my hair cause i hate the short boring styles to do anime hair styles but because am asian its doubly difficult as i have very very thick strong hair and they keep threatening to kick me out or cut all my hair off when am asleep. Obviously i have to go hairdressers every so often but i also get new highlights in my hair every 3-4 months which they hate even more! I love my style the way it is now because i feel as though it suits the personality i have because am a rocker/metal fan and a big anime fan so i like it but they absolutely hate it and its hurting my self esteem in the sense they make me feel self concious about my self. I think what they hate is the thickness of my hair and they say it looks all boofy when i straighten it so is there any advice to get thinner hair from thick without thinning my hair out cause i already get it thinned at hair dressers. Also i have black hair and usually get darkish brown highlights and next 2-3 weeks am getting dark red in so it makes them hate it even more! -.-
I'd move out if i could but am 18 and not working, my plan is to have to take the annoying comments for the next 3 years whilst i go uni after college, find a job to pay enough for me to live on my own because i have soo many ideas in mind but am trying to play safe but obviously they hate it..

Answer
Well, yeah? They hated my long hair for over 50 years! I've moved out of the house since age 21, and have styled my hair thousands of different styles since then. . . . . a family of my own, so it's not that I was still a kid.

They just hate long hair period. Until one day, my mom heard compliments about my hair when out shopping. I looked @ her and she finally had a small smile, to let me know she 'approved'.

You can either move out, continue fighting & pleasing them, or do what they asked from you. In the 70's, everyone had long hair, but I couldn't, but I did anyway.

You have thick hair, you don't want to thin them, unless you're cutting split ends. They will just grow weird. Chemicals are damaging to the hair, and too much of that causes hair loss, but I can't tell you not to stop using chemicals, but I'd rather say: cutting or thinning the hair is better than messing with chemicals. Even Lourdes, Madonna's DD, had an undercut because her mom is very strict, instead of chemicals do that. Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

Chemicals also causes cancer. Google hair dyes & cancer.

Wearing a flower in my hair?

Accidental

I have long, dark hair and I think a red flower would look really cute in my hair, but I'm not sure if it's something other girls would do. Just looking for some opinions! Would you wear a flower to school once in a while?

Answer
Wearing a flower in your hair can be cute, but really it depends on your hair. From the information above, you have really pretty hair, and a red flower would really add a nice color pop to any outfit! So, go ahead and put that flower in your hair! Good Luck! :-)

How can my baby have bright red hair when I have blonde and my husband has brown?

Brielle

My husband's grandfather had red hair but everyone always asks how she got that red hair lol! I thought we both would have to have a recessive gene or one dominant gene...don't know how it all works. She looks a lot like my husband in the face...and I dont have anyone with red hair in my family.

Answer
You both have the recessive gene of red hair. Red is is normally a recessive gene, just like green & blue eyes & your blonde hair. However, this time it just decided to come through.
Think back to high school biology when you had to work with the genetics of flowers or kids or whatever it was, I'll use an example of your blonde (b) & his brown (B). BB, Bb, bb, bB, you can see that brown is dominant 2 of the times & possibly will be a third, it is on this third one where a recessive gene is first that other recessive genes come out (for whatever category your dealing with: hair, freckles, eyes...).

This is very similar to how (example) you & your husband are both short, yet you have an extremely tall child. Or a baby with dwarfism is born to parents of normal height.

I hope this has helped some. Good luck dealing with all the jokes you have ahead about the baby not being ya'lls (or at least your husbands) It will get frustrating!!

I have red hair and sometimes I feel ugly. I just need someone else's opintion.

Answer
I don't think girls with red hair are ugly at all! Red hair is so pretty and unique.

Here are some celebrities who had red hair at one point and looked great:

Longer lasting red hair dye?

~pointless

I've tried splat and it fades in days. I've heard manic panic does too soo if anybody knows a different brand that will last longer that be great.
Thanks(:

Answer
Red dye for some reason is one of the FASTEST dye to fade - no matter what brand.

Style meets chemistry meets biology: We're talking hair coloring.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.

Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.
> > > Hair dye chemicals linked to cancer
London, Feb 20, 2013 I've been saying that since 2009.
Hair dyes, which include home hair colouring kits and those used at pricey salons, are linked to deadly cancer-causing chemicals, warn scientists. In 2009 the Mail revealed that women who used hair dyes more than nine times a year had a 60% greater risk of contracting blood cancer.
A year later the European Commission banned 36 hair dyes which put long-term users at risk of bladder cancer. < < < <â¨

Skin specialist Najjia Ashraf reveals that there are barely any dyes that donât contain this toxin; even the ones who claim they donât, are not being honest. âBig brands often escape the blame by suggesting they are ammonia-free. However, ammonia and PPD are two very different things and PPD is present in nearly every dye because it is what gives off the colour,â she explains.

How many inches does your hair grow in a year?

Q. my hair is way past my shoulders and im jw how long it will be in a year?

Answer
Hair is actually dead material when it leaves it's root - otherwise it would hurt very much when your hairdresser works with his scissor. Most people know that, but do you know about these facts:

A blonde head of hair has usually much more strands than red or dark haired heads.
Hair consists mainly of keratin, which is also responsible for the elasticity of fingernails.
A single hair has a thickness of 0.02 - 0.04mm, so that 20 - 50 hair strands next to each other make one millimeter.
Hair is strong as a wire of iron. It rips after applying a force equivalent to 60kg, only after it stretched itself for about 70%.
Even on a good hair day, everyone loses at least 40 to 100 strands.
The average scalp has 100,000 strands, or just fewer than 1000 per square inch.
We are born with all our hair follicles. Some are programmed to grow pigmented hair (as on our scalp) up to 3 feet in length.
In America in '96, 38 million men and 19 million women experience common hair loss determined by heredity.
The trait for baldness can be passed down through paternal or maternal genes.
Hormone imbalance and crash dieting can trigger temporary hair loss.
Hair biology

The root of a hair strand sticks in a bag in the skin. The strand is pushed out of this bag about 0.35mm per day, making an average growth rate of 1cm, or half of an inch, per month. The growth rate is however very much related to the individual person, his age, his diet etc.
Healthy hair has an average lifetime of 2-6 years. After a rest period of three months the single hair falls out, and a new strand starts to grow out of the bag. The lifetime depends on circumstances and person, too.
The lifetime of hair is responsible for the maximum of hair length you can have. Waist length hair takes about 6 years to grow out from a short hair cut, periodic trims included. If your hair has a life cycle of 2 years, you will never achieve a nice waist length mane.

Why does my daughter have red hair when I have blonde and my husband has brown?

Brielle

My husbands grandfather had red hair but I though that red hair was a dominant gene so one of the parents had to pass it or both of us had to pass one recessive?? I dont have any red hair on my side of the family. And her hair is VERY red lol!

Answer
This was actually discovered using pea plants by a scientist named Mendell (i can not recall his first name) during the 19th century. He was a priest and devoted his free time (practically his life) to unlock the secrets of heredity. Long story short, he discovered that there are actually gene pairs that consist of a dominant chromosome and an inferior chromosome, in any order. The only way in which the inferior gene can take over is by being paired with it's self, otherwise the dominant gene will portray itself. An example is the 23rd chromosomes, the X for female (inferior by definition) and the Y for male (dominant gene). If the pair contains a Y, like XY, the child is a boy. If XX, it is a girl. There is no 50-50, it is either the dominant is present and portrays itself, or it is only the inferior genes and they portray themselves.

Red Hair is an inferior gene, so both of you have to have been carriers (the technical name) of the gene, while your dominant color genes, blonde and brown, had decided yours. You had a 1 in 4 chance of having a red head, and sure enough that 25% won. She received the two inferior genes from you only.

I could go more in depth, but then everything gets a bit in depth with conception and fertilization and genetics, and I'm sure you barely read all of that! :)

hope that helps you understand

What color sweater would bring out my red hair and green eyes?

The Time T

My hair is not a flaming red but more of an auburn shade, and it looks more light brown than anything in dimmed lights. It's similar to the shade on my avatar in sunlight. My eyes are a dark green, and my skin tone is very fair but without freckles (if that counts). I have three different-colored sweaters in my wardrobe to choose from: blue, yellow, and green. Which of these would compliment both my hair, my eyes, and skin tone? Quick responses would be favored; I'm going out in a few minutes. :)

Answer
Purples and pinks would bring out the green in your eyes, and maybe you could wear a green hat to make your red har stand out..

How to prevent red hair from fading?

Marie Eliz

So i dyed my hair medium auburn two weeks ago, and it completely faded into a strawberry blonde color. I'd like to dye it again now, so does anyone have any tips to prevent it from fading again? Please? Thanks :)

Answer
That was 2 weeks ago? Don't wash your hair often.

19 and white hairs!? ahh!?

Yelena

I am about to turn 19, so I am still very young. (not too young for white hair, I know that) but I am at a healthy weight for my height, take good care of myself, eat right, and get enough sleep. Prematurely gray/white hair does not run in my family on either side. I have been under a ton of stress lately and noticed about 8 or so white hairs growing - I plucked them out. I noticed the white hairs are MUCH thicker than my normal dark brown hair. Any ideas? Could I have a chemical imbalance?

Answer
Each hair on our heads is made up of two parts:

1-a shaft - the colored part we see growing out of our heads
2-a root - the bottom part, which keeps the hair anchored under the scalp

The root of every strand of hair is surrounded by a tube of tissue under the skin that is called the hair follicle (say: fah-lih-kul). Each hair follicle contains a certain number of pigment cells. These pigment cells continuously produce a chemical called melanin (say: meh-luh-nin) that gives the growing shaft of hair its color of brown, blonde, red, and anything in between.

Melanin is the same stuff that makes our skin's color fair or darker. It also helps determine whether a person will burn or tan in the sun. The dark or light color of someone's hair depends on how much melanin each hair contains.

As we get older, the pigment cells in our hair follicles gradually die. When there are fewer pigment cells in a hair follicle, that strand of hair will no longer contain as much melanin and will become a more transparent color - like gray, silver, or white - as it grows. As people continue to get older, fewer pigment cells will be around to produce melanin. Eventually, the hair will look completely gray.

Some people go gray at a young age - as early as when they are in high school or college - whereas others may be in their 30s or 40s before they see that first gray hair. How early we get gray hair is determined by our genes. This means that most of us will start having gray hairs around the same age that our parents or grandparents first did

Why do people want me to cut my hair off?

Hi everyone =) I´m 18 years old and i have a question about my hair. I know it´s long now, too long according some people. I have had long hair since i was like 3 or something and my mother decided she wanted to grew my hair out. When i was 13 i had never had "short" hair so i cut it off to the shoulder blades which was kinda short to me but i liked it, but then i just let it grow back out again and now It´s almost tailbone/hip length, the color is red/brown and it´s quite thick.

I take good care of it and i don´t think it´s hard at all! The thing is that people around me are telling me to cut it off a bit. Some say to the shoulders which i could never do cause my hair has become such a big part of me (in a good way, i´m not hiding behind it) and to cut it off would make me feel incomplete in a way... i know it sounds a bit confusing-.-. People say things like "it looks alright now but you would look so much better/cuter with shorter hair, in the meantime THEY say that they want to grow their hair out so....i don´t understand?? why should I cut my hair shorter when THEY want to grow their hair out? Don´t get me wrong though, i think shoulder length looks very good and i have wondered how i would look if i cut my hair to shoulder length. But i would never do it, not in this decade anyway until i get older. My goal is to grow my hair just below the bum and that i know people do not like, especially my mother!(hehe) but i´m thinking if i want to do it the best time is while i´m young..or? Not everyone around me are telling me to cut my hair off but many do, but why should i look like everyone else? That´s not fun, i would never tell anyone to cut their hair off if that´s the way they want it to be? I´m just tired of "friends" telling me how they want me to look like.

Answer
A lot of women chop off their long hair between 18 and 21 or so because they feel it's a good time to experiment with short hair (and they can still grow it someone long again in their 20s). But like you say, it's also a good time to experiment with super long hair. Also, it's different for someone with hair your length. Someone with shoulderblade length hair can chop to a short pixie and be back to similarly long hair after 3 years. Someone with hair your length likely will never grow it past the waist again if they cut short.

Let me guess, most of the people telling you to cut are women, right? Guys won't say such things, and many guys are absolutely crazy about very long hair if it is healthy and looks good, particularly since it is so rare. Some or many of the women are jealous and secretly want to level the playing field to reduce attention you get from guys relative to them. Some of the women just like change, so they want to see you in short hair at the same time they want to change themselves to longer. These are the same women who get radical hairstyle changes every 1-2 years along with the whims of fashion and never would have the patience to grow very long hair. Also, some will see super long hair like yours as a "project" to work on changing. And some see short hair as more mature and sophisticated than long hair.

That said, you don't want to get too attached to your hair. It's fine to enjoy it, but if you get too far into believing it is a big part of you, you might be unwilling to cut it at some point in the future where it really might look better shorter. Some older women (late 30s, 40s, +) with very long hair look good, but a lot just have thin stringy hair that should have been cut 15 years ago but they are too attached to to cut.

However, at 18, you've got plenty of time to enjoy your long hair. A lot of women wait until they get married or settle down and don't want or need to attract attention from guys to get the big chop. Maintaining your very long hair until your wedding can really pay off with a fabulously unique and amazing look, and then the honeymoon after is a perfect transition point in life to go for a big change and go short for that more mature and sophisticated look. But for now, if you enjoy the long hair and it's healthy and well maintained, take advantage of it. You'll really stand out in the crowd of women with generic shoulder-length hair.

Good luck.

Red Vs. Black hair...?

Harlequin

I'm just curious I guess. I have really fair skin and light blue eyes. My natural color is bland because it is literally a little red, brown and blond...

Anyhow, I'm just trying to decide whether black or red hair would suit me best. Any suggestions?

What would you think if you saw someone with fair skin, light blue eyes and red or black hair?

stereotypes are fine. I thinking personality, stereotype etc... I wear a lot of black, but I don't really dress gothic.

I'm afraid red would be too standout-ish though.. it looks natural on me, but black makes my eyes really noticeable... I like both, I just wonder what people would think when they look at me.

Thanks!

Idk if this changes anything - short, skinny, long hair, some make-up (nothing drastic), jeans, lots of black Tees... and natural looking colors

Answer
I have normal brown hair & get it coloured at a salon, L'oreal 666 is what I have applied & it's a real fiery red & I get lots of positive remarks about my hair colour, I have greeny eyes though but blue eyes can really stand out with red hair. Red hair is also one of the hottest colours around & if you want a few famous names with red hair & blue eye then think of Florence from Florence & the Machine, Lily Cole, Tori Amos, Gillian Anderson. Red hair with blue eye is unique & you will stand out from the crowd, but defo go to a good salon & don't tamper with home products, home hair dyes can give a real cheap red which looks like a home hair dye. Only thing not so great though with having your hair coloured red is it fades pretty quickly, I splashed out on Ojon leave in conditioner for red hair & it really is worth getting if you want to maintain the red locks. Dark hair & blue eye is beautiful too, but I thing you need a bit more make-up with dark hair to carry it off without looking washed out. I think dark hair with natural coloured clothes is a bit boring, get yourself down to the hairdressers girl & go red. Anytime I have went dark brown I always wish my hair was red again. You will look beautiful with red hair & blue eyes, go for it.

Red hair vs Blonde hair?

Stefan

Is blonde more dominate? Blonde is a absence of melanin or chemical as red has pheomelanin. Shouldn't Red have more of a dominance over blonde hair. Please explain, thank you.

Answer
Genetics regarding hair color is a little tricky because it involves epistasis and multiple alleles. Epistasis is a phenomenon in which the phenotype of a gene can be affected by another gene. Multiple alleles are more than two alleles for a certain trait. The pigments for hair color is eumelanin and pheomelanin. In the case of hair, the three types of alleles are black, brown, and blonde hair. Usually, darker colors are dominant over lighter colors so black is dominant against brown and blonde. Brown is dominant against blonde but recessive against black. Lastly, blonde is recessive against both black and brown. Increase in eumelanin causes an increase in darkness in hair. Therefore, black and brown hair have a high concentration of eumelanin while blonde hair doesn't. Every person is born with some pheomelanin which begins to break down as he/she ages. The breakdown of pheomelanin causes his/her hair to become lighter to grey and eventually white despite the concentration of eumelanin. Red hair is a special case. Red hair involves another, independent set of alleles called the non-red hair and red hair alleles. Please note that these alleles are separate from the black, brown, and blonde alleles, and they're located on different loci. The non-red hair allele is dominant over the red hair allele. How does that affect other hair colors? To put it simply, if a person is either homozygous dominant or heterozygous for the non-red hair allele, there hair will not be red. Instead, this person could have black, brown, or blonde hair depending on their hair color trait. On the other hand, if a person is homozygous recessive for red hair, they will have red hair. It doesn't matter if they have the genotype for black, brown, or blonde hair. Those phenotypes won't be expressed, and the red hair phenotype is expressed. Basically, red hair is neither dominant or recessive to blonde hair because they're not the same alleles for a trait.

Creepy Dream has been bothering me.....?

LiLLy16

Does anyone have any interpretations/advice for me? i've had this creepy dream 8 times, once every week. Usually on a Wednesday, sometimes on fridays.
this story seems to take place in the 50s/40s, at least that's the style of clothing everyone's wearing in the dream, all trench coats and hats and dresses....
i'm a police officer assigned to guard this famous actress whose been getting death threats. she has red hair and is funny. i'm guarding her while she's at this studio/thing meeting w/ her agent, and suddenly i see this guy. he's supposed to be my fiance. i go over and talk with him for a while. then he leaves and i take a walk. i'm trying to convince myself to go back to protecting, but it's like my legs won't allow me to walk back to the studio. suddenly, the chief of police is there. he tells me that the actress is missing. i feel really guilty. me and the chief jump into the car and drive around looking for her until we get word that she had been found.... murdered. i start to cry because i feel so guilty and the chief keeps telling me it's not my fault when we're at the crime scene (which is the studio, no body, just yellow police tape everywhere). suddenly, i see my "fiance" lurking in the shadows, and i come to the realization that he is the killer.

then, i wake up.

weird, right? can you guys help me with advice or interpretations? thanks so much!
haha, yeah, i'm pretty crazy. i agree tho, remembering dreams (even when they're freaky) is the best!

Answer
Most dreams contain messages that serve to teach us something about ourselves. Unfortunately many a times we forget what we dream about as we go about our daily routine. With recurring dreams, the message may be so important and/or powerful that it just will not go away. The frequent repetition of such dreams forces you to pay attention and confront the dream. The dream is trying desperately to tell you something. Such dreams are often nightmarish or frightening in their content, which also helps you to take notice and pay attention to them.

To dream that you are a police officer, represents your own sense of morality and conscience. The dream may serve to guide you down a straight path. If you have recurring dreams that you are a police officer, then it may mean that your past actions have left you feeling guilty. Consider your behavior/actions as the cop.

i think your fiance has to do this

Why are men becoming more and more brainwashed about female beauty?

Victoria

I feel like men, ESPECIALLY black men have been brainwashed with "white beauty" and have formed these crazy obsessions with lighter skinned women.

I am becoming more, and more convinced that a black man will choose a basic light skinned girl ANYDAY over a fine dark skinned one.

So why do most men think that the ideal women should have light skin, light eyes, long hair, and slender and curvy? Is it really a preference or the result of brainwashing?

Now be honest guys, would you choose to date a light skinned girl who rated like a 6, or a dark skinned girl who rates a 7?

Answer
Some black men have been conditioned to like light skinned women over dark skinned women because of today's media. It wasn't like this back in the 50s through 90s. It happened when the image of a black women changed to having multiple features of both Eurocentric and Afrocentric features (Halle Berry)

It just so happened that women with these features were either biracial or light skinned. Thus people made the assumption that the only women with Eurocentric and Afrocentric features are biracial and light skinned black women. Those women were then stigmatized as exotic and having a beauty beyond comparison.

The music industry played a vital role in this as well because they are publicly showing this. Not only are they selling their music which may be good or bad, they are selling an image.
---Image of what is trendy (swag, skinny jeans, big booty, big boobs, long hair)
---Image of whats good looking (yellow bone red bone)

That further conditioned black men to admiring light skinned and lighter women.

Personally, this is exactly why I bashed and blame the media for most things. The people that show these things are doing it for marketing reasons and personal reasons. They might not realize that what they are doing is affecting the youth. Ideas get passed down so if we all grow up believing one thing, we're likely to pass that idea down to our kids.

Lastly, I tend to rebel against the image the media portray of people, and the message they are persuading people to believe.
My preference is actually dark skinned black women like this porn actress
http://i.picasion.com/pic76/7e49626608bcfd2b49f3651343f1c42d.gif
(it was extremely hard to find a clean picture, but I did lol)

The media claims that women of that color is unattractive, all I say is less competition for me.
So I would date a dark skinned girl who is a 7, without regrets or hesitation :)

BUT do not get me wrong. I date people who meet my standards of having a good personality, not having a good skin color.
As long as we click positively, I like her. If she got dark chocolate skin, that is a plus.

Some questions about dying hair red! :] help please?

amy-jayne

My hair has a Garnier Belle Colour "Natural Dark Brown" colour on all over at the moment.
I want to get it a red shade, not vibrant but not dark or auburn either..
If I bleached my hair all over, would it go patchy? I've bleached black hair before and it went an awful orange and black colour, but maybe brown will be different?
How many bleaches would it need to be light enough to dye red?

I have bleached my hair before, so no answers saying, Red is an awful colour, or it will be too damaging.. I know and I'm willing to risk it.!

Answer
First you have to know What colours are your hair naturally. Colours? Yes you can have brown hair with a golden hue or brown hair with a red hue. You can have deep black hair with a blue hue. So on and so forth.
Then you need to know if it is virgin hair or bleached hair. YOu mentioned you have bleached before. HOw long ago? How much of your root has grown back? This is very important to getting an even colour.
By the way virgin hair means nothing has been done to it yet. Hasn't previously been bleached.

Next know the amount of colour that you want to strip from you hair. You might not need to bleach ( with should be avoided if possible. cause it is rough on your hair.) You may be able to get away with peroxide. the amount of colour the peroxide with lift depends on the number 10, 20 only enough to deposit colour on to your existing hair colour. 30, + enough to strip out colour and deposit your new shade.
Bleach will strip dark hair right down to and ugly reddish copper light and dark depend on how long you leave the bleach. The longer you leave it the more damage will be done to your hair. You will be burning it. causing bad fizzies and bad split ends. You must mix your colour with bleach or peroxide (what ever number you choose. You want a higher number of peroxide if you are have a darker hair colour and want to go lighter.

YOu leave the peroxide on no less than 15 minutes and up to 45.
You don't leave anything on longer than 45! O.k. The longer the solution the more intensive the harmful effect and the colour lifting so as you get past 25 minutes check your colour more frequently.

Patchy happens when the solution is not applies evenly aver hair you can comb colour through to avoid this and make sure you have enough colour to begin with to really cover your hair too much won't be as bad a s too little. The harm lies in how long you leave it in.

You must have a lot of red in your hair naturally that is why when you bleach you get that nasty copper colour. The same as me. LIsten very closely now You will never get that red out! I know. trust me on that one. What I have discovered to work is to camoflouge the red by toning it down with some blue added to my hair dye. I also go darker now rather than lighter. Never tried adding the blue and going lighter I don't think it will work! So don't try it. Darker is in now anyway have fun with black add a purple hue that only shows when the sun catches it or blue. Like snowwhite. Remember ebony hair.
The science of art and mixing colours comes into play so know what happens if you add certain colour together. You must also know that blue and red make purple so the point of that - is knowing what the underlying colours are that come in to play. These are very important. cause they are there and have an effect on your hair colour even though they are seemingly hidden.
KNow which are the stronger colours and work with these since it is impossible to phase these out.
If you are going from anything ash to darker you should add red to avoid adding a greenish hue to your hair. Now you know my years of experience and have had the benefit of having my mother's tips who was a hairdresser for over 40 years. Hope it is all clear to you now.
My opinion on this matter listening to your question is you are inexperienced and should probably trust a hair stylist to do the colour for you. Boxes aren't all they are cracked up to be. Hairstylist have access to all the strengths of peroxides and things you wont have access too. You don't know what colours they have mixed together i the box to give you the auburn what if it was more red and you were trying to get rid of the red!

But if you are determined to do this thing your self go to a beauty supply shop that sells to the general public buy your colours and preferably peroxide.
I want best answer for telling you the tricks of the trade I can't believe how long this answer turned out to be. Chuckles.

Can you help with a great red hair color recommendation?

I have medium-toned strawberry-blonde hair naturally. Not dark, but not that light gingery color either. I want to get to a rich red, similar to this: http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/2794/colorpi9.jpg
All the dyes I've been finding say they are good on dark hair only, and when I bought one that should look good, it made my test patch dark brown! NO good. I look horrible with brown hair. So, can someone point me in the direction of a great red dye that will get me the results I want? Photo examples would be great too if you have them!
I cannot and will not bleach my hair before using a dye. Also, I am looking for a boxed dye such as Clairol or l'Oreal. Manic Panic, Special Effects, Punky, and other such dyes will not work properly without bleaching, so please do not recomend them.

Answer
i use manic panic hair color when i want a vibrant red. you can also use special effects semi permanent dye. the problem with rich, vibrant hues, such as the red you're trying to acheive, is that they lose their tone and luster with washing. a semipermanent color will resolve this problem =] just make sure to touch it up when you notice it starting to fade! i do this all the time! i have black hair, with red chunks

...i don't bleach my hair either!! lol i just leave the dye on a tad bit longer!

would Loreal HI color to turn hair red be okay on relaxed hair?

Yasmin

my hair is relaxed. would it be safe?

any other options to turn it red without bleach?

Answer
I don't know much about ethnic hair cause im only black on the inside if you get what I sayin. hahaha. Ok i have a shit load of experience with hair so i can kinda infer with ethnic hair. Alright so if your gonna dye it without bleach its still going to be really dark and not like bright red, like rhianna red. It will be more of your hair before, with red tones. Like in the sunlight you can see the redness and your fly aways will be clearly red and it will fade fast. if I were you I would bleach it, but that can be hard doing it yourself and can be harmful to your hair. If your tryna get it like rhianna red or Erica for the Bad girls club, that kinda red then I would suggest going to the salon but if you short on cash or whatever then go to your local Beauty school or Empire and get it done there cause they really take care of you there and its not that expensive. And for the sake of your hairs health, stagger they week when you relax it and dye it. So wait at least AT LEAST 2 weeks in between so don't go bald.
Lo real is cool, but I like 'N'rage' for real vibrant Colors. Whenever I used 'N'rage' I was so happy with there results and it has bleach built in, so one step bleach and color. The down part of that is Its difficult to find, at Sally's Beauty supply I know they have it in purple blue and pink and I've seen it a couple times in red. Also its tricky to get that all over, almost natural looking color with it. I strongly suggest going to the salon so it can be bright and all over color. Without spending crazy money go too the local Beauty school, like Empire. They treat you mad nice and inexpensive AT ALL. And students have to do everything with there supervisor so they don't mess up, and I've never heard of anyone having bad luck at the Empire Beauty School. Good luck and make sure you email me so I can see what you ended up with and what you did. hit me up cheeka; miranda_stoddard@yahoo.com

i have been using a dark red hair color loreal ok?

C R

now i want to lighten the red. is there any way to do so. when i put a lighter red on it didnt make any difference. i am using permanet hiar color. ifyou have had that experience i would like your advice. thank you. incidently my hair is a brown and some gray.

Answer
I recently did the same thing. For about a year now I have been using a dark auburn for my hair and when it went more brown than red I decided it was time for a change. I used a clairol natural instincts color and it worked fairly well. It is designed to cover darker hair and lighten it. I don't remember the number I used but after a few days it turned the desired color. One warning though, do not apply to your roots first if they are fairly grown out and a different color than the rest of your hair. My roots turned PINK for about 10 days and are still brighter than the rest of my hair.

Red Hair Dye Questions?/Which Hair Idea?

Q. Hi!! My hair is now like a medium kind of auburn-y, reddish, brownish color. Here's a link to what I look like: www.youtube.com/tiffanytragedy96

Anyway, if I use Splat Luscious Raspberries, or a Manic Panic red dye, would it turn out like a natural auburn, reddy kind of color, or just look stupid? I realize it works best and turns about the brightest on bleached hair, but I don't want "neon" red hair. I want it just to turn out a beautiful, natural-looking, medium red-brown.

Or, I had an idea to dye my hair a medium golden brown with a light beige brown highlights.

Which would look best on me? Thanks!! :)

Answer
Those dyes give out a vibrant, neon looking hair color. If you're not going to bleach your hair, you could apply them and it won't be as vibrant, but it won't really turn out well.

Not only that, but I wouldn't recommend Manic Panic, especially the reds. They bleed, they fade quickly, and they look horrible when they fade. When you put them on though, they are a good looking color, it's just the reds especially fade after one wash.

If you want medium red-brown hair, I would go to Sally's Beauty Supply and look at different colored hair dyes for red hair. I use Ion Color Brilliance, and the color is amazing. It's a permanent hair color, though, and it doesn't fade as quickly.

I personally think the medium golden-brown with the light beige brown highlights would look better on you. That would be harder to achieve though, if you're going to do it yourself.

Do it at home by yourself or go to a professional, it's up to you!

Random question about my children and the red hair trait?

Okay, so I am bored and decided to ask this thanks for reading.
My fraturnal great-grand father is full blooded Irish and at least half of his 16 kids have (and had) natural red hair. Their daughter (my grandma) has red hair and 2 of her 6 children has red hair (my aunt and uncle) and my aunts son has brown hair but a red tint in his beard yet his daughter has bright orange, red hair just like the earlier generation(the daughters mother's family has NO red genes). And my dad has brown hair with a brown and blonde beard but with little to no red tint. And I have brown hair with a brown, blonde goatee with a noticing red tint just like my cousin who has the red haired daughter. So my question is, could any of my children have this orange-ish red-ish Irish hair just as easily as my cousin's daughter does? Thanks for reading and I am 17.

Answer
Red hair is rare and it is believed to be a recessive gene. If you carry a copy of this gene and marry someone who also carries a recessive copy of the same gene, then 1 in 4 of your children may have red hair. That does not mean that you will have 1 red haired child if you have four, and you may have a red haired child even if you have just one kid. It depends on luck. And it also depends on luck whether you carry a copy of this gene and whether you will ever meet, fall in love and then marry someone who also has the recessive gene for red hair. To increase your chances, you can marry a girl with red hair since she definitely has 2 copies of the recessive red hair gene, unless she dyes her hair red. :)

Red hair color spray on a white fleece jacket?

Justannah4

It didnt come in direct contact with the spray but it got the brush off from my backpack that came in contact with my hair. It was an expensive jacket and my dad will kill me if he discovers the red on the jacket. I'm using arm and hammer detergent and I dont have any non chlorine bleach. Will it come out of my jacket?

Answer
red hair spray takes several washes to remove from your hair
So I would pre treat the mark on your fleece before you wash it
Use a spray stain remover or rub neat dish soap in then wash
Once washed if stain is still there repeat don't dry or you will dry stain in
Also clean your backpack
