Why is red hair on guys often considered nerdy?

I've noticed on TV and at schools etc. that guys with red hair are often marked as 'nerdy'. Is there a reason?

well usually redheads don't fair well in the sun because of their pigmentation, and people with this sorta of problem is seen as nerdy because they `burn easily`

Ok so i have a red curly mohawk my whole head is red.and i bought a blueish green and black real pretty sweater,some black jeggins and some black knee boots and all my jewerly will be either black or siliver.and im wondering would this outfit look cute with my red hair what you guys think?
