Do i have to bleach my hair if i want to dye it red?

i have naturally brown hair and its not that dark. i have never dyed my hair before and i want to do it a black and red . do i have to bleach for it to look like this VV (copy and paste link)

If you use Splat it will show up whether you bleach it or not, how ever, it still wont be as bright as it would if you bleach it. Also just a heads up it's pretty difficult to get red out of your hair, so make sure you really want that color.
