I heard that some people have violet eyes. Maybe it's very rare today, but probably it was pretty common before. Same thing with red hair, maybe it was common before, but they are both almost extinct now.
How do we know if there are other extinct hair/eye colors?
Answer
Red hair has never been common, but it's nowhere near extinction. I'm related to tons of redheads. As for violet eyes, it seems like they're really just a dark enough blue that they appear violet. That's also very uncommon, but there are still people with that deep shade. It would be very interesting to discover extinct colors, though.

What hair color is the least common naturally?
LP's Mommy
Ive been told its red.
Answer
i would think red too... idk...
heres what i found
The red-hair gene is recessive and only four percent of the world actually carries the gene. Due to its recessive nature it becomes diluted when carriers reproduce with those who have the dominant hair, therefore putting redheads on the endangered list. However, many scientists are skeptical of extinction, stating that four percent of 6.4 billion people is too large a figure to wipe out in the next ninety-five years. Dr. David Pearce of the University of Rochester of Medical Center also points out that while the red-hair gene âwill dilute and become rare, but there are a variety of other factors that can change hair color that are not really understood well right now."
