Is it okay to wear all of one colour if it's for a formal event?

Like say if I have a red dress, red hair accessory, red shoes. If not how much of the same colour is tolerated?
where? say if i have a champagne dress should I direct another colour to my shoes and headband for example? if I wear dress gloves do they stay white?

one color is something no one recommends, so try adding one or two colors more
