Why are some people so concerned with blue eyes becoming rare in the US?

Q. It seems blue eyes are becoming more and more rare in the US. Actually only about 20% of the US babies are born with blue eyes. Why are some people so worried about this?

What about dark skin? Now many African-Americans are mixed with whites, so their skin shade is much paler than it used to be. Isn't dark skin in serious risk of extinction, even more than blue eyes?

Answer
Yes, African-Americans are getting paler, but Caucasians are getting darker and less in number. The fact there are shades in between Black and White show that there are many genes responsible for skin color and that they are equally dominant. So the genes never die out, they just spread. But if you are worried, you can go back to the country of your ancestors and look for someone to marry and have children with (or bring them here and start a family with them).

The lightening of African-Americans in America is a good thing. One of the main health killers for African-Americans is heart disease. One of the main factors of heart disease and hypertension in people of color is vitamin D deficiency. The further away from the equator that people of color live, the more likely they will have heart disease, and even autistic children. In places near the equator, there are fewer cases of autism and heart disease. So having darker skin in places with less sun is hazardous to your health.

Blue eyes, red hair, and blonde hair are at more of a risk of extinction since genes for brown eyes and brown/black hair are dominant. If both parents carry the gene for blue eyes, then the chances of children with blue eyes is 1 in 4, with one not even carrying the gene, and half as carriers.
