Going from brown to red - best hair color?

Nina

I have medium brown hair, and want a reddish brown shade. I know I'll have to go with a strong red color to phase my dark hair. Any brunettes go red? With at-home color? What did you use?

Answer
Ferria. Its my fave. I find that they make me have really vibrant hair. But yeah if you have lighter brown hair you will tend to have lighter red hair.
Unfortunately red hair tends to fade faster than any other color of hair.

What are some home remedies for dying your hair, like crazy colors? purple, green, blue, red, ect...?

i cant afford real hair dye right now so im trying cheap home remedies. i tried kool aid but it surprisingly didnt work. it was super concentrated and i left it in for hours but it still washed out. and ive heard about using food coloring but i heard it also comes out the next time you wash your hair. i want something that will stay in my hair for a few weeks. if you know how to use kool aid and make it stay in hair for a long time then please tell me cause maybe i did it wrong last time. and any other home remedies that you know of would be great. thanks!

Answer
The best at-home thing you can use to dye your hair is Kool-Aid, and it IS a little tricky to get the process down. Red and pink colors work the best.

For short or medium hair, you're going to need at least 10 packets of Kool-Aid, make sure you use the kind that DOES NOT already have sugar added.

Dump the packets out into a bowl and add water ONE DROP AT A TIME until you have a paste. Apply the paste to clean, dry hair.

The paste should be about the same consistency as syrup or honey. After you have applied the mixture to your hair, blow dry your hair on high heat until itâs dry. Itâs going to feel like there is a lot of gel in your hair! When you heat up your hair, you open the hair follicle and allow the color to penetrate. Leave this color on for as long as you are comfortable, but be aware that it will stain almost everything, your pillows, towels, etc.

When you rinse, make sure that you rinse with VERY cold water. If it stains your face, countertops or bathtubs, you can remove the stains by rubbing a paste made of baking soda and water on the stain and then wiping it up with a paper towel.
