Ion Hair Color Ratio Question?

Lexi

I bought a Richest Red shade from Ion Hair Color and a sensitive scalp creme hair developer (30). I want to dye my grandma's hair with it and figured I would use a 1:1 ratio, if that sounds correct? In addition to this hair color, she wants blonde highlights throughout, so I bought a powder bleach. Should I put that through her hair during or after coloring it with the red? I am pretty nervous, and I just need a little advice. I have done other people's hair with boxes but I haven't ever used this type of dye.

Answer
for the developer you want a 10, if its dimi, but for others 20.

for highlights, color the hair red first, but waite a day or so, then do the highlights with the bleach., or go to an actual hair place.

Ion Color Brilliance Red over dark hair?

franki

It's winter break right now, and next week I'll be going to my dad's house. He lives very close to a Sally Beauty Supply and they're the only store I know of that carries Ion Color Brilliance. I want to dye my whole head a vibrant red, using 6RV Light Burgundy Blonde or one of their reds like it.

Currently my hair is a VERY faded dyed black with slightly faded Manic Panic Pillarbox Red in random places.
I dyed my naturally dark brown hair black in September and I haven't redyed it since the beginning of October. I bleached a few spots of my hair and dyed over it with the Manic Panic. The black in my hair has really faded and is pretty much my natural color again (which is a very dark brown anyway), and I haven't redyed the red since almost 2 weeks ago so it's fading.

If I tried to put the dye over my hair as it is (without bleaching) using a 20 developer how would it turn out? Would I have to lighten my hair much beforehand? I don't want to have to bleach my whole head because I don't want to have to fry my hair.

TL;DR I know.
Ignore how stupid I look in this picture, but yeah: http://l23.sphotos.l3.fbcdn.net/hphotos-l3-snc6/hs014.snc6/166438_10150145756922388_725332387_8092289_6937861_n.jpg

I don't have that many pictures that show the color well...

Answer
If you want to dye it red on dark hair what i would recommend is what I use, Loreals excellence hicolor hair dye. its available at Sallys for about 6 dollars

Its meant for dark hair. And just use a 30 vol developer. heres a pic of my hair after using the magenta on dark brown hair
