What do you think of the main charcters for my story?

The story is about fate. One girl is kidnapped and forced into child prostitution at the age of nine by a very suspicious rich man. Her name is Charlotte. The other girl was abused by her father for years, he hit her and her sisters and raped the oldest one every night, and then sells her to the same man that keeps Charlotte. Throughout the whole story, They girls are running. They are trying to get away, and find a way to save the girls little sisters. The whole story contains rape, murder, sadness and then serious happiness.

Charlotte
Age: 10-12

Charlotte is a outspoken, independent girl from London, England. She is tough, smart and quick. She acts like she isn't afraid of anything when really she's afraid of everything. She cries to herself at night, and stands strong and tall by day. She is fierce, and firey. She has bright red hair, and she has never known a good man. Her mother had been raped on Active Duty in Canada, and caused her mother traumatic memories of her abusive childhood to come back. Charlotte remembers that it was a man that had robbed their house when she was little. It was a man that beat her mother up one night. A man that took her.

Rebecca
Age:10-12
Age sold: 9
Siblings: 3 sisters, 1 deceased brother.

Rebecca is a very brave, but afraid person and she shows it. Rebecca is always taking hits and punches for her little sisters, stealing food to feed and stealing clothes to clothe them. On the outside, She hates her father. He chased her mother and sister away. He beats her. He rapes her. He makes her sell herself. But yet, on the inside she still believes that he is still the good father she had years ago. Rebecca always wears a yellow flower in her hair, to remember her mother. She remembers her mother loved the Sun, and she loved yellow things. Rebecca is sweet, softspoken, and never really speaks over a whisper.

Sir
Age: mid-30s
Age he began taking kids: 19
Sir has problems. He doesn't allow his girls to know his name, so he makes them call him sir. He has been in the business of ruining lives since he was 19, and he raped his first girl. Her name was Clara, and she was 6 years old. That was his little cousin. He says he'd do it again too.
Sir has a brothel of underage girls, ages 13 to 6 years old. Many of them have been orphans, kidnapped, runaways, and even children of the older girls. Rebecca and Charlotte are his newest girl
Alot of the experiences in this book are real. I am a rape victim, and I put in a lot of my old diary entries from when I was younger. The reason this has alot to do with fate is because those girls are meant to meet, regardless of where when or how. My story is called the The red thread: When will we be free again?

The story and the characters sound very interesting, and the characters seem very well developed. I think that the only suggestion that I might have is to be careful with the happy ending. You don't want to make it too sudden. Make sure you somehow ease into it. Other than that, it sounds like a very interesting story and I hope that you enjoy writing it and that it might even help you. :)

1980's teen book about a girl named Polly with red hair?

I once read a book in the 1980's, a book for teens b/c I was one, about a girl named Polly with long red hair who is very pretty and popular, loves thrift store clothing, who falls hard for a really geeky guy. I can't remember many other details. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Like her father, Polly has red hair. In The Arm of the Starfish she ruefully describes her figure as "twenty, twenty, twenty." In A House Like a Lotus she critiques her appearance as "too tall, too thin, not rounded enough for nearly seventeen". Intelligent and widely traveled, Polly speaks numerous languages including Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Russian and a little bit of Dutch. Despite her abilities, Polly has not yet settled on a specific career path, but may have found her calling as of the end of An Acceptable Time.
