Blue eyed and red head people in ancient years?Loool!!!!!wtf?

ArtemiC

Ok i just was reading the article in wikipedia about redheads and i know that light eye colors started to appear about 10.000 years ago
so it says:
"A fragment by the Greek poet Xenophanes describes the Thracians as blue-eyed and red haired. The Greek historian Herodotus described the "Budini" (probably Udmurts and Permyak located on the Volga in what is modern-day Russia) as being predominantly redheaded. The Greek historian Dio Cassius described Boudica, the famous Celtic Queen of the Iceni, to be "tall and terrifying in appearance... a great mass of red hair... over her shoulders." Also, several mythological characters from Homer's Iliad, (themselves purportedly Greek) are described as being "red-haired" including Menelaus and Achilles."

Well firstly red hair were not supposed to exist by that time so i am confused the same with the blue eye thing also i have read some other articles from ancient greek years that also kind of report the existance of light eyes and blonde hair(when did blonde and light hair appear?)

Is this some kind of bullShiT from internet or what?
Also it is assumed that the beautiful helen of troy was blonde but if blonde hair did not exist how could she be blonde?:pp

Answer
I'm not sure about the blue-eye connection, but recent research has suggested Neanderthal people had red hair too.

Of course some red-heads have brown eyes, like my cousins ! So whether that's an indication of blue-eyes I'm not so sure. They and blond hair probably evolved after people had been living in cold climates for a long time, i.e. after the ice-ages or in the north of Europe, where they needed to extract as much from the sun as possible. The last ice-age was ages ago, so I would expect these features to be pretty old now.

A question about Shakespeare - red hair and villains?

I can't remember where I heard this, and I don't know if it has any substance - an internet search turns up little information:
Is it true that, in early performances, the bad guys of the piece would wear red-haired wigs?
Thank you :)

Answer
Possibly but I doubt it since Queen Elizabeth the First was a redhead.
